I had my favorite - General Tso, but because of the price opted for white rice instead of my usual house special fried rice. The food didn't take long to come out and was quite tasty. In short, it was great - just like what I had back in NY, making this place a spot I may frequent for food. I never write negative reviews. Never. The taste and general quality of this place are fine. Delivery was fine. However I ordered the "6 piece" salt and pepper rib appetizer and it came with tiny ribs literally the size of a quarter. It's like they chopped up one legitimate, small rib into six pieces. It was like a bad joke and showed either a lack of integrity or a lack of awareness of what was being put out. We ordered and knew it would take 55 minutes which was OK. We ordered egg rolls: they were extremely small and I think literally were a thin slice of skin and some cabbage filler. They were tasteless. The chicken fried rice had boiled chicken. Thin strips that were rubbery and lacked taste. The rice was OK but also lacked flavor. The garlic chicken was alright but not especially tasty. It had some broccoli that was good but we could not taste any garlic. So I ate at this place weekly for nearly ten years, my coworkers always ordered multiple deliveries daily however recently things have taken a turn for the worst over at red pepper... .... In March I dined in and ordered a veggie platter with dark sauce, as I'm eating my last few bites I notice a large cricket / grasshopper in my food, cooked in the sauce. No to cause a scene, they were busy, I called over the server and show it to and him he takes the plate away. He wasn't surprised about what I found, like its the norm there or something. He returned later to tell me that they were making me a new one. I told him that I was no longer hungry and I didn't have a problem paying for my drinks or the other entree. He went to the desk and after all of the employees congregating at the desk to stair me down and point at me while yelling in Chinese, he brought me a check with the veggie plate comped. .... YESTERDAY - I was in a rush and needed something fast so I called in a Togo order. Trying to give them a second chance. I ordered a iced tea and spinach dumplings. It was ready before I got there, I picked it up and rushed off to work. I got to work and hurried to eat my food before starting a long shift. I took a big bite, nope, not spinach. It was some type of white meat which I assumed was chicken or pork. I called red pepper to tell them they had messed up my order, being that I was within delivery distance I figured that they would send out the correct order. They said they didn't have a driver and that my order was shrimp not spinach. The guy on the phone told me I need to listen better when he repeats it back, now being that he has a heavy accent it's extremely difficult to understand him. I've been going to this place for over 5 years and have recommended it to friends and family and they've all had great experiences. Every time I walk in I'm always greeted by my first name and a smile. I always ask for the usual and they know what to bring. Since we fell into the medical compromised arena, we preferred the deliveryWhen I ordered my $31.00 dinner , the final bill was almost $20 more. I inquired and they added a $15 service fee plus gratuity . AND, it was crowded so I took that as a good sign. I ordered Pepper Steak and instead of rice I just got an extra egg roll. The egg rolls were seriously the best egg rolls I have ever had. The wonton soup was yummy and the pepper steak was perfect. Plus it is cheap! My meal- pepper steak, wonton soup, veggies and 2 egg rolls was $6.50!
