We transit through Silverthorne frequently and are always on the lookout for a good restaurant. Red Mountain Grill was recommended by a friend so we checked it out yesterday for brunch. The brunch menu is pretty enticing with a number of interesting options. My husband and I both opted for the Huevos Rancheros on corn tortillas. The flavors were great, especially the pork green chili. The preparation was lacking as the plate was not hot, the chili was lukewarm, and the embedded tortillas were cold. Service was prompt but somewhat disinterested. We will go back - mainly due to a lack of alternatives and we will be very specific about our expectations. read more

They have a big menu and a lot of stuff on it, they ran out of or we're not serving most of it. The food was ok we got burgers and the special which was a steak entree. But the price was incredibly high. Gave everyone the super farts the rest of the night. The table we sat at was sticky and the drink glasses had sticky finger prints on it. Our service was on the crappy side and the place wasn't even busy. Did I mention the price for this place was insane. They could have gotten a better review if the cleanliness was better and for the ridiculous price they were charging at least not be out of everything I'm ordering on the menu. Family of 6, kids are teens, not picky eaters. We really would like to give a good review. RMG has been one of our favorites in years past. This trip however, not so much. It's a bit pricey for what you get, but it's ski country, the atmosphere kind of lends to it, but with that, there's an expectation of quality. From the hair in the food, to the blackened chicken linguine with enough red pepper to make a person sweat (we like spicy food, but wow, it ruined the dish), to the incorrect pizza order, and poor table service, this place needs some help with food quality and customer service. We also ordered a beef burrito - ok, French dip - sandwich good, fries cold. The pizzas were good once corrected, but I'd stick with the pizza, not straying into anything else on the menu. Great place if you want a variety! I was in the mood for a burger and this place did not disappoint, excellent burger! Good place for both adult and kid menu options, it's conveniently located. I would of given five stars, the only thing I didn't like too much was that the queso dip got hard really quick and it was hard to eat with the chips, also the kids pasta with Alfredo sauce was a bit dry more sauce would of made it perfect. We stopped by on our way home. The whole experience was very disappointing. The hostess was ticked to seat us. The server seemed put out to take our order. The food - Queso was good, fish tacos - fish was dried out, a drizzle of sauce, not good. Chili not bad. Beyond burger came on dry bun, had asked 3 times for bbq sauce. Food is inconsistent, service leaves a lot to be desired and when they had a chance to come through for a local family who had a flood and no way to cook Christmas Dinner and they just flat out refused. This past Christmas Day my family had a flood which meant no running water and no way to cook our Christmas dinner. Looking through the Summit Daily I learned that Red Mountain Grill had a fixed menu of turkey and mashed potatoes. It's a Christmas miracle! I don't need much for Christmas but give me turkey dinner like my Grandma used to make and the holiday seems complete. Called the restaurant and spoke with the owner/manager (same person whose voice is on the answering machine). I explained our predicament over the noise of the emergency workers cleaning up the flood who had now descended upon our house. No problem, we can call before we want to come pick it up. Fast forward to 5:00 when I call back. Same owner/manager answers the phone. She tells me that there is a wait at the bar and no way can they help us by packing up 3 of the preset meal like we had discussed a few hours ago. I actually begged her. I played the local card. Played the I have a little baby card (true story). Told her about my and my husband's illness. Reminded her of the flood I had and the promise she had made early. She just didn't give a hoot. And now I don't give a hoot about you either, Red Mountain Grill. I have no idea how you are still in business with the food you serve but I look forward to whatever restaurant ends up in your space next. read more

Surf and turf tacos were good with generous portion. Calamari starter was under cooked with generous portions of peppers--not what you normally expect. Need to come back to judge better. That can not be true. First of all don't ask for temps if the chef really doesn't cook them. All our burgers came outt the same, chewy and just about well. I ordered the double R Bulger. The description sounded amazing burger/pulledpork/bacon, Yum!! Unfortunately The cheese was a thin transparent glaze on the burger, just one piece of bacon, barely enough pork to notice and the lettuce and tomato topped it off as a wilted disaster. I could expect this at the resort cafeteria for $15 but felt robbed here. When you walk in you get the vibe that this could be a good restaurant. But none of us felt good after our meals. It was one of those excited to get our meals then instant disappointment experiences. The place is really cool and the staff was friendly. I will be back for a drink and ambiance but I won't eat here until they make some drastic changes with the kitchen. read more

We ate here for a quick lunch on our way back to Denver. The decorations inside the restaurant were awesome, they are eclectic while still keeping with a general Mexican theme. I ate the Calabria pizza which was quite good, and my partner at the southwestern chicken burger, which was VERY SPICY. We were going to go to the Dam Brewery (should have) but went here instead. First, we asked to be seated on the patio (3 of us) and we were, but at a table uncomfortably close to another. There was an open table in the corner of the patio that we inquired about. The hostess mumbled something that meant no. We ordered cadillac margaritas that we could swear were house margs. No way there was any grand marnier in them. Then my friend and daughter both wanted the children's fettuccine. My granddaughter was dying for pasta. Then the server came back and said they were out of pasta (they were also out of pizza that night). I ordered the blackened fish tacos. My friend actually decided not to have anything and my granddaughter had the Kraft Mac & Cheese (over 7.00 for a small serving). My tacos were so salty. Luckily I ordered a side of sour cream that helped, but could only force one down. Everything was way over priced for what they served. I'd gladly pay that or more for quality food. Oh how I wish the food was as pleasing to my stomach as the decor was to my eyes! Red Mountain Grill accidentally became a part of a glorious two day escape from the oddly warm city weather. I say accidentally because we were actually headed to the close by restaurant & brewery when we took a left instead of a right and decided to try a place neither of us had experienced previously. With all concept of time behind us, we sauntered into a bright spacious building at an off time for the dining business. We were greeted by sort-of-friendly employees and quickly taken to a table next to the immense window which allowed a view of those Rocky Mountains I so adore. I stared with wide eyes at the pieces of art that put the entire space together. The walls, the chairs, the beams, the light fixtures, the flickering lights in the stone-surrounded fountain... a fanny pack around my waist, binoculars around my neck and a camera would've completed the tourist feeling I got as I ogled at the details that went into this breath-taking interior. Before we were able to check out the menu selection, there were several minutes of saying things like: "Oh even the tables and chairs! Look at them!" or "Did you see THAT light fixture? What about those over there?" The menu had an interesting selection of food. My impression: A mountain grill trying to appease the eclectic tastes of city folk while maintaining the expectation that tourists will indeed pay extra for food. (Thank you so very much for lunch, Sir... or uh dinner... whatever it was). I chose a salad that told my mouth to water until it got there... then told it to stop. (Yes, I get that I live in a land-locked state and was eating at an unexpected hour, but still.) My expectation for Ahi Tuna entrees has been built up quite high thanks to the city establishments... so I was a tad let down with my first bite into a recently thawed out, dry slab of sesame crusted fish. I will award kudos for the citrus soy vinaigrette which accompanied the fresh leaves, julienned cucumbers and crunchy carrots quite well. Once I drowned the tuna pieces in the dressing and put the Chinese crispy noodles on top, I somewhat enjoyed it. While I was thoroughly pleased with what my eyes took in during my visit to this Red Mountain Grill, I can't say the same for what my stomach took in. I may have heard them arguing over whether or not to add the third star. Eyes won. It's the artist in me. read more

My new favorite happy hour in the mountains! 4-6pm daily with 2-for-1 well drinks, wine and beer. This is awesome because you can get delicious microbrews for cheap rather than drinking $2 Bud Lights like most other happy hours nearby. The HH food specials are $5 cheese pizzas large enough to share and a huge bowl of wings. Both are delicious. This place is packed during happy hour on and for good reason. It's definitely not full of people in ski gear since it's off mountain but not too fancy either. Little bit of an older crowd mingling. Nice lodge feel inside with cool hanging lights and lanterns. We ordered 3 items. Two good. One not. The Cobb salad was very good. Every component of the salad was well presented and generous. No hunting for the blue cheese crumbles, bacon or the avocado. The chicken strips were not all that tasty but the rest of the salad was great. All but 2 of the strips lacked flavor and were rubbery. The House smoked BBQ ribs had no taste, were tough and arrived cold. Slow smoked ribs should be easy to separate from the bone. These were not easy at all. They were tough to chew and with no flavor what so ever. They come with Sweet potato waffle fries. My son is not a sweet potato fan so I asked for regular fries. No problem. The order ended up being prepared with sweet potato fries (which were also cold) but we were also given regular fries (warm) at no additional cost. Thank you. I liked both fries. The teenager ate the regular fries with ketchup. For dessert we had the chocolate brownie sundae. It was very good! read more

Its hard to recommend this place. Jack of all trades and master of none. They have BBQ and Italian and pizzas and burgers and Mexican. None of it is great, its all kind of overpriced, and the drinks in particular are pretty dear. Views are good but I'd rather go to a restaurant for the food. read more

We had a great time. The ambiance is like the nightmare before Christmas meets adobe mountain lodge. I had the triple R burger and it was fantastic. Everyone had a great meal and at a very reasonable price for a resort town. What a great value! read more
