I peeked into this location of Red Mango, which happens to be squirreled away next to an Auntie Annies, and was happy to note that the machines are self-serve. When it comes to fro yo, I prefer to customize my own selections and determine how much/little I want versus having someone behind a counter dictate my preferences. I found the price/ounce on the steeper side, though I did enjoy my combination of original tart and Pina Colada. We discovered this about a week ago and I thought I'd died and went to salty/sweet heaven! Now that BerriChill is no more, Red Mango is my new fav tart yogurt chain in the city. It's a big chain that I tried for the first time years ago in SoCal. But this is the first I've seen that is self-serve! Like a mini version of Yogurtland! Lots more flavors than in the normal Red Mango shops, and of course since it's self-serve you commitment-phobes can mix and match little bits of each flavor. The toppings are self-serve as well and there are TONS. My fav toppings are mochi, fruity pebbles, and these fabulous flavored boba balls they have (mango and strawberry). They're like regular boba, except when you chew them the fruity liquidy gel pops into your mouth. Just trust me... I've read positive reviews of this Red Mango but today's experience definitely resonated more with the reviews of inconsistency. I step in, all the self serve machines are a complete mess...mounds of frozen yogurt and at least two machines are empty. I tried out 3 of the remaining and the yogurt is too soft with a watery mix to begin the fill. I'm in the mood for it anyway and my samples taste good so I keep going. I put some toppings on after filling my cup halfway, looking forward to what I'm thinking will be a delicious experience. I go to checkout and there is one cashier helping someone. I see two other workers doing some mixing of something for the Aunt Annie's portion of this location so I wait. Someone comes out from the back and I ask if I can pay. She tells me to put my bowl on the scale and wait. So I do that, understanding that they're busy. I wait, and wait, and wait....so after about 5-6 minutes, I'm thinking that my yogurt is melting and why the delay. I see other employees that could stop what they're doing to help but they're not. I decide to wait even longer. Then something happens that just takes the cake: another NEW customer walks on in and the cashier ask if she can help them. What?! Okay, this is ridiculous. I walked to her and asked if she could check me out, I've been waiting. She asks me to put my cup on the scale and then proceeds to continue with the NEW customer. After thinking about the situation for about 10 seconds, I'm pretty much done with them. I left. So, unfortunately I cannot review my full serving of the yogurt but can only say that the sample was good. The workers? They need a refresher course on customer service. Whoever owns this location needs to take a second look at the quality of customer service and the ability of the employees to provide a good experience because today they completely lost a customer and seemed to be oblivious to it.
