Red Lobster is not the same. The food taste like it was seasoned with water, baked in water, fried in water, sautéed with water and topped with water. "It's going to be a 25 to 30 minute wait... do you guys feel like waiting?" My mom asked my siblings and I while we were out to dinner. "Absolutely." I answered for all three of us. The amazing smell of the delicious biscuits that Red Lobster makes was wafting through the air. It was a late Friday afternoon early evening, so we expected a wait. Personally, I think it's worth it. When you take your first bite of the perfectly cooked cheesy-garlic biscuit, the wait is automatically worth it. The serving staff is USUALLY on task, polite, and friendly. However, this last time I went I was subjected to an extremely rude and inattentive waiter. Luckily though, the neighboring waiter took care of us without question and graciously apologized for our waiter's lack of courtesy. We decided to skip the appetizer and salad and go straight to the entrees. I ordered the "Ultimate Feast", this "ultimate" meal delivered a rather large amount of scrumptious food: a split Maine lobster tail, half pound of snow crab legs, breaded butterfly shrimp, shrimp scampi and your choice of side all for $24.99. The taste makes up for the big price. All the food is always perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. During dinner hours, the lights are turned down just a smidge to deliver a warm atmosphere. With all the good reasons to go to this restaurant there are also reasons not to. Timing and possible troublesome servers are a couple of reasons. BUT! If you do want to shave some time off your wait and all the members of your party are over the age of 21 you can sit in the bar area. For the servers, that all has to do with your luck. I only ate here twice and each time I got sick. Needless to say, I will never return. Why did I return the second time? Well everybody deserved a second chance, but not a third. There is a reason I do everything in my power to avoid stupid chain restaurants like Red Lobster. Let's start with service... --Was told to expect a 10-15 min wait. 45 min later we had to remind the hostess that we were still waiting and were seated shortly afterward. Oh, and it was a Tuesday --Server was aloof and somewhat rude. She'd ignore our table for 20 min and then come back with 3 baskets of lukewarm biscuits and 2 cherry cokes for me so she wouldn't have to worry about refills. I mean, Red Lobster does make a mean, 1000 calorie cheddar biscuit, but I don't want 10 of them cluttering the table and begging me to let them clog my arteries. Speaking of food.... My Caesar salad was drowning in extremely salty dressing, got a replacement with dressing on the side and couldnt even use it, i don't think I've had such salty Caesar dressing in my life. On Mother's Day, 5-13-18 at 1:00 pm, I went to pick up an online order at the Munster IN Red Lobster. The online order was to be ready at 1:00 pm as per our order. Upon arriving, there was a short line at the online pick up window that seem to be taking a long time. At about 1:10 pm, I got up to the online window counter and paid for the order. I was told my name would be called when my order was ready. There were other people waiting for their online order. At approximately 2:20 pm, my name was called and I got the online order. We asked for a 1:00 pm pick up time because my mom is in the hospital and my sister was flying out to go home later that day. Getting the order 1.5 hours later affected having enough time to eat the meal before my sister had to leave for the airport. When we laid out the food, we noticed the food was not prepared as ordered (no cheese on potatoes, though ordered that way) and no cocktail sauce, sour cream or butter for the shrimp and bake potatoes. It was a busy day and that Red Lobster should have been prepared (had some kind of plan in place) for the upsurge of onsite diners and online orders. People should not have to wait an unpredictable amount of time for an order that had a specific delivery time. It also seemed that Red Lobster did not start preparing my order until I paid for it after arriving at the restaurant. Why bother taking an online order if the food is not going to be prepared until the purchaser arrives to pick it up. It seemed that diners at the tables were getting their food faster than those who order online expecting express service or, at the very least, having their order prepared at the time requested and assured in the online system. read more

Took my dad here for his favorite lobster and shrimp Summerfest dish about 2 pm on a Friday afternoon. First time at this location. Looked to be in pretty good shape with nice tile floors in the bar area where we were seated (see pic). There were several patrons but they were not busy at all. Taken care of almost immediately by a nice, polite waitress who promptly brought our drinks and took our order. Food came out quickly and was reliably tasty as most of our Red Lobster experiences. The biscuits.!! Yum Yum Yummie!!!!! I am not a sea food fan, but the biscuits keep me coming back, along with their perfect Pina Coloda!~ The wait staff has always been great, and patient. I have my best friend's surprise party there, and they helped serve the cakes at the table. My mother has been gone 20 years. One of the last good meals she had was from this location. I went in and explained my mother was house bound, and could not come out, but I wanted a real menu to have her pick her dinner from. The person gave it ot me no questions asked, and my mother was so delighted. We dined on carry-out, watch Grumpy Old Men on DVD. Many nice memories over the years. The renovate regularly, and it always looks nice. The bar area is a nice meeting site. If I liked sea food, I guess I would give it 5 stars. read more

After reading several reviews this seems to be one of those places you either love or hate. Our food was great for 'Red Lobster'. I've been to a few high-end places where the food was only good. To the 'haters' - this is 'Red Lobster'; what did you expect? But to me, what makes this place deserving of 5-stars is of course not the food (again - it's Red Lobster); but the service. I'm handicapped so going out is usually a challenge. Our group of 4 was seated at a booth, (which is very challenging for me). Our group leader forgot to ask for a table before we got seated. So once I managed to squeeze into the booth we asked if there were any available tables. And even though it was crowded and a busy night, they accommodated us immediately. I was even helped to get out of the booth by a wonderful waitress who was about half my size. She was such a sweetie! I wish I'd gotten her name. Once we got re-seated at the table we were waited on by Doty - who was stellar! She helped turn our night from an embarrassing catastrophe; to very much fun! A neighborhood gem 20 years ago has morphed into a high school cafeteria. What once was sought out by multiple communities within a 100 mile radius is a joke now. This is not our first time at this particular spot. We visited the Munster location 9311 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN 46321 on Monday Sept 13th about noonish. The restaurant had few guests at the time so not that busy but the we could tell they were understaffed. After waiting what seemed like 20 minutes to be recognized we asked the visible unbusy manager on the floor to bring us cheddar biscuits since our server seemed to have forgotten us or was busy(questionable). She said "oh he's putting in your order now ( mind you cheddar biscuits come to table without the order necessary). Like I said it wasn't our first rodeo at this location in Munster,IN. She proceeded to conjole with some regulars two seats away. *Noted". Once we had our drink and appetizers PLUS our meals ordered we sat and waited. Drinks came quick im guessing because we sat in the bar area. We had to wait until two other orders in the same area were ready to get served our apps. Odd but we tolerated that because we were hungry at this point. While waiting another two guest arrived and were promptly waited on and served. We gave the server the benefit of doubt thinking his timing was off or something. Then he closed out two whole tables and served the newer arrivals. We decided to leave and were held another 5 minutes because now the manager we alerted earlier wants to kick it in full gear since she sees we are leaving a $100 tab reduced to $18. Now I don't want anything from them because we gave them a chance to correct their wrong but they were idiots. Manager now wants to check on our food to see where it is but not before when we asked for the cheddar biscuits and that was all we asked for in the beginning. She ultimately paid for our apps and I reluctantly paid for our drinks, everything should have been free based on this horrible service encounter. Went there for MY FIRST time on a Saturday afternoon, looking forward to a delicious, FRESH MEAL. I was immediately underwhelmed by the 1 1/2 wait, & the lack of attention to me and my spouse from the server. We had to ask FOR WATER while eating our biscuits. Our main courses came to the table, I decided to order the Shrimp trio. The pasta was dried out and old. The potato was cold and flavorless. The cheese wasnt even melted!! The shrimp in garlic sauce was rubbery. It was an immediate "NO" for me. My spouse ordered the "ultimate feast" and that too was mediocre. The meal wasn't even hot! The lobster was dry and tough, the shrimp was bland, and the crab legs were dry. Just had THE WORST dining experience of my life here. Took my daughter out for her birthday here and knew we would be in for a rough ride when we arrived. I go to step out of my wife's car and almost stepped on a dirty diaper that was left behind in the parking lot. This diaper would be both a metaphor and foretelling for what would come...not just an isolated example of poor housekeeping at the restaurant. We were greeted promptly and told we had to wait about 30 minutes for our table..no biggie. After about 30 minutes we were seated. Awesome...my expectations and reality are still in line with each other. We were seated in a booth right by the kitchen. The server (Rick) came over to take our drink order...he asks my wife and daughters what they want...two sprites....and then my youngest throws Rick a curveball...a kiddie cocktail. The server responds with "we don't have those". Seriously???? I asked him if they had cocktail cherries at the bar...he said yes. I realize he is really inexperienced and try to help him out...I said to bring her a sprite with a dish of cocktail cherries. Then I asked him if he had Coke Zero...he said no we have Diet Coke. I said I would take a Diet Coke then. Drinks show up...all of the Sprites were bitter because the syrup was out and he brought me a regular Coke. At this point...I'm like...okay...even though we did the whole Coke Zero/Diet Coke thing when ordering the drinks...it's an honest mix up. We flag down another waiter and send the drinks back...he said he would get us new ones. Only the new twist...they are out of Sprite...really...sprite...you ran out of sprite? How does that happen? My girls reorder different drinks and they are brought out after a few minutes. A short while later, the waiter comes back and takes our order. My youngest daughter gets popcorn shrimp with fries, my other daughter gets grilled shrimp and my wife and I each get the endless shrimp. She gets scampi with fried shrimp and a Caesar salad with shrimp. I got fried shrimp with shrimp Alfredo with a salad with no tomatoes and no onions. I also asked for some ranch with the biscuits. Pretty simple right? Nope...not today. First the salads come out...first thing we see...no shrimp on my wife's salad...next no ranch with the biscuits. Okay...minor goof up...not the end of the world...we can fix this...we tell the server. He agrees it was his goof and he will fix it. But he then did something where I knew the wheels were about to come off. Rather than go to the kitchen and address the issue at hand by getting some shrimp and a side of ranch...he went to a table of six and proceeded to take their order. In turn, we never got the ranch dressing or the shrimp for the salad. As I am eating my salad...i noticed something that looked funny in my salad...I start moving it around with my fork and discovered (to my horror) that it was a bug. I flagged down the server and showed him...he even confirmed it was a bug. At this point I am now thinking I am going to get sick. He says he is going to get his manager to come talk to us to fix this. In the meantime, our dinners come out and I leave mine largely untouched because upon a brief inspection I find pieces of lettuce in my shrimp pasta. If you think about it...why would lettuce (cold station) be anywhere near a cooking station? The answer...Terrible housekeeping and poor food practices. So I set the plate a side and didn't touch it. The manager offered to remake the dish but I told him about the other issues and told him I am done because given the constant downward spiral I've witnessed since my arrival ...I am scared of what would come out of that kitchen next. I asked him if they are using old food from the bus bins to make the all you can eat pasta...he tried to convince me that this was not the case...but I remain unconvinced. We as a family agreed we will never go to this location ever again. My daughter said this is the worst birthday dinner she has ever had. As she got done saying this...a police car pulled a car over in the parking lot of the restaurant and she saw the lights....sarcastically my daughter said "the cops are her...how bad can this place be???" Bottom line....This place is a catastrophe...but if you don't believe me or like bugs and garbage in your food...this might be the place for you. read more

The food at Red Lobster is very OK. I think it's to be expected. I had the cajun salmon, which wasn't very flavorful or memorable. The place seemed busy but we were seated fairly quickly. The first thing I noticed was how dirty the floor was. It looked like the carpet had never been vacuumed. The waiter took our order and brought us our salad, but we had no silverware. We got his attention and he brought us one set of silverware, saying that there were no more up front and that he was waiting for more. We ordered an appetizer that never came. The food was OK, but small things like that will probably keep me from going back. Oh well. read more

This was the best experience I've had at a Red Lobster. The hostess was extremely pleasant, the young lady who walked me to my table was amazingly helpful and my server did a tremendous job!!! This location has a new General Manager from what I was told and when I requested to speak with her about the excellent customer service, she came right over. Being an out of state visitor and able to find great quality customer service and food makes a huge difference. Kudos to this location!!!!! read more

They dont want white people there. Went with my wife and waited for the host. He ignored me, i am a large guy. Another couple came in and he asked how many and seated them right away. They also had two people. When i asked why he ignored me he stumbled and said that he paged the other couple which would be understandable if he didnt ask how many. The service was awful. No one knew who or waitress was. After complaining twice and hearing other people complain about the service, a waiter came to our table and asked if we were helped yet. He did a great job. I saw a waitress sneeze on someone's drinks and serve it to them. It was horrible. They were cramming big families into booths. We ordered four full dinners to go over the phone. Meals were half the size that they should be. My wife called back and went back to exchange, a trip of several miles. The salmon were small and they stated that that were their usual size and refused to add to their size nor did they compensate my wife for making an additional trip that should have been unnecessary. I love going to Red Lobster to either have lunch or dinner there with my daughter. We have gone multiple times, on different occasions, and have never, ever, had a problem, of any kind. The staff is always attentive, and can't do enough, plus whatever we have ordered has always been delicious. It actually makes me laugh just to read a few of these reviews. Red Lobster gets pretty busy, and you just may go there on a busy day and have to wait a little bit, but like alot of busy restaurants, it's busy for a reason.. it's good(if you like seafood that is). If you don't like seafood you may be less impressed with the place, but there are some pasta dishes and I'm sure one ortwo other nonseafood items. Of course most people go to Red Lobster because they are seafood fans, and it's a good place for that. Their shrimp is delicious, and I'm not sure if they still have it, but they had a special going on where you get all these different styles of shrimp at a very affordable price. That was pretty cool.
