The restaurant opened at 11:30 am. We arrived with a party of 7 at 11:30am. The restaurant was mostly empty and they did not have a waiter or waitress for our table. They said we have to wait a half hour for someone to arrive. We would have left but had 2 small children and a 96 year old great grandmothers with us so changing restaurants was not easy. We watched many tables ordered and get served. We were given bread and water then ignored. We think the bread was reheated from the night before - not as good as it normally is. The website should read open at 11:00am for small parties - 12:00 for larger parties. Then things got worse - our order appeared to be wrong. The fries were very salty. Sunday, we made our first visit to the Dyer Texas Roadhouse. The waitlist feature made check in super convenient! We were seated immediately. They were well staffed and the wait staff were friendly and professional. That being said, it took a very long time to get our salads. The salads were cold and fresh. We had no complaints about the temperature of the steaks. The server checked with me before turning in the order as my family likes their meat well done and I prefer medium rare to medium. My spouse remarked that his steak was very salty as were my grilled shrimp and my steak was rather tough. The restaurant was very lively and busy! At this point, I realized that we don't fit the demographics of this chain, and that is ok. Considering the overall good quality of the food and the very reasonable price point, TR is a great place for families who want to introduce their kids to a sit-down, "cloth napkin" restaurant. This was my first time dining in and everything went well. The greeters were so friendly as was the person seating us and the waitstaff. The food was really good it was my first time ordering the pork chop and I added rice and house salad. My daughter had half slab ribs, baked potato and Caesar salad. Everything the delicious. The young lady my waitstaff person she advised me the rice had onions in it and that it was really good. She was right, delicious and heats up well along with my pork chop. I made it to the restaurant and went inside was told she was the only one working because they are short handed. Ok how long does it take to put in an order, one would think I would have moved up in the que after 10-15 minutes on hold. Would figure phone in business would be a priority as that is potential business. What was even worse was the hold message repeated over and over again. I went because I received a coupon good for a free appetizer during your birthday month. The staff was very nice. The rolls with the cinnamon butter were very good. The server even gave me a bag of them to take home. But the rest of the food and my experience were blah. My free shrimp appetizer was cold. So was my steak. It was also undercooked and the meat was tough to chew. The ribs were okay but nothing special. Ditto with my sides. The salad was good. I purchased a combo. It was loud and crowded. It reminded me of Ponderosa and Bonanza restaurants that used to be everywhere in the 70's. But the prices were more affordable back then. So my friend has a party at this Texas Roadhouse in Dyer. Never have a birthday dinner here. I tell my friend I'm getting off work late but I'll still be there. I walk in. I say the name of the party. The manager (red shirt blonde hair but I won't say her name - we can just call her Karen) She tells me I'm too late and then proceeds to tell me that I can go find the table myself and starts waving me off like I'm a dog or an animal. I'm lost ? Like what's wrong with this lady? So now I'm walking in circles around the restaurant trying to find my friend. She finally calls me to guide me to the table via phone because the staff won't help me. It's 2 tables reserved. I join the end table. I wait 15 mins for someone to come check on me to take my order. No one ever comes. I walk around to get a waitress. The waitress comes to take my food and all of sudden here comes Karen pushing her out of the way to aggressively tell me that I can't be served unless I get my own table across the other side of the restaurant I tell her no - absolutely not Why would I sit on the other side of the restaurant and I just told you I was joining a party for a birthday dinner? Are you stupid ? So she's loud - she's trying to embarrass me She's aggressive - she's rude She's doing way too much So I go order my food from take out and walk back around to eat it at the table And we were there another hour and a half So what was the point of doing all of that? The staff was really nice and the atmosphere was jumping! It was crowded so we had to wait about 20 minutes but it was worth the wait and you didn't feel like you were boxed in. We had the steak and shrimp and it was delicious. Cooked to perfection as I ordered it medium well. It was so big I took some home and it tasted even better the next day. The only thing I didn't like was that we were charged for mushrooms/onions on the steak which we weren't told there was an extra fee. The waitress asked if we wanted it like it came on it. The menu was a little misleading with the flavored margaritas because it also didn't say there was a $1 up charge when it said the different flavors. I like this place, I've been hearing over the years that some don't but hey you can't please them all. Heck I've even gone to a few in other states and still I like them. Who's arguing that those little buns of deliciousness topped with that heavenly cinnamon butter isn't enough to get you in the door and they walk you to your table with them! I always get the bone in rib-eye (medium/slight pink) sweet potato with marshmallows and caramel sauce and a salad. My steak has never had to be sent back BAM ENOUGH SAID about that! Their salads OMG! I'm very particular about croutons and theirs are not too hard and not at all soggy they're just right. The house salad comes with egg. Not many places offer that anymore. This place is always a favorite. Luckily we made reservations because they were overly crowded and there was still a wait. My sis, nephews and I were seated shortly after being confirmed and our server was very attentive. I always order the catfish and fries with green beans, and this time I also had a margarita. Here at this Dyer Indiana Texas Roadhouse I have never had a bad experience. The customer service is so on point. Call ahead and get added to the waitlist. The drinks came out very quick, the waitress Kendra made sure we had everything we needed to complete our meal. The salads were fresh, the lettuce was cold and crispy. I couldn't finish it, nice size salad before the meal. The dinner rolls are alway good along with the butter. It seems like the rolls have gotten a bit larger.
