Salmon New Orleans*
Brandelyn G.

My husband promised to take our kids after sharing a nostalgic story about taking a girl to Red Lobster on his first date. We were seated almost immediately on a Sunday afternoon, which was surprising because usually restaurants are busy during this time. My husband ordered the New Orleans style salmon while I had the shrimp feast with shrimp scampi, Walt's, famous shrimp, and shrimp Alfredo. My children ordered the popcorn shrimp and the chicken tenders and they all enjoyed their meals. The one thing that I was disappointed in was that the salads were no longer complementary as I recalled from when I came years ago. However, what made this visit special was the hostess at the front. I wish I could remember her name, but she took the lobsters out of the tank and showed my children and allowed my kids to pet them. She even gave a quick lesson on how they typically live in the sea and how you have to burp them after taking them out from the water. The restaurant is a bit dark, the booth seats felt a bit sticky and I feel that it could be updated and that is the only reason why I've taken off a few stars, but the staff was great and the service was good.

Ultimate Feast with double Shrimp Scampi, Snow Crab Legs, Maine Lobster Tail, with Baked Potato and Brussels

So I just called Red Lobster a dumpster fire in my last review of another seafood restaurant. On a corporate level yes; this IS my Red Lobster in South Austin. Last review 2009 and truthfully I don't dine here too often as I don't work in town. Another update, Sheryl who mentioned way back when is still there. 42 years at this location! The reason for this visit was two fold. Support the folks that have taken care of me for all these years. Second, Rooster loves fish and chips and wanted to make sure he had a cheddar biscuit fix before summer. The day before Rooster and I spent half the afternoon looking for his retainer in his room. We didn't find it, but I did find two leftover Vanilla gift card he had forgotten about. We had $155 combined to use so why not splurge. GF, son, mom and myself met for lunch. Sure enough Sheryl greeted us and led us to our table. No appetizers consumed because biscuits! Our server was amazing; drinks refilled promptly. All necessary tools provided for the feast to crack those crab legs! Rooster got his Fish and Chip fix; GF had a bowl of chowder and calamari. I settled in for the Ultimate Feast. I do like that it's customizable these days as I usually don't want the fried shrimp. For today I chose the snow crab legs, Maine lobster tail, and double shrimp scampi. Not gonna talk sides except the rock lobster tail I added. Every seafood item cooked gloriously. Scampi was garlic butter excellence; snow crab legs cracked with ease. Maine lobster tail versus the rock tail provided different nuances in flavor. With gift cards used we owed $6. Add in tip and we dined in extravagance for $46. Support your local RL!

We've given this place plenty of chances over the years and I'd really hoped for things to improve this time. Picked up a large order for my father's birthday dinner and not only did they leave out the fish and chips (ordered and paid for an hour in advance + extra fifteen minute wait, forced to refund after they refused to deliver), the cheddar bay biscuits were cold and the lobster in the seafood boil looked more like a mystery nugget picked off of the kitchen floor. Never again.

The bartender Bianca was absolutely amazing. Let me know about happy hour drinks, suggested the crab carbanara and it was sooo good! Only bad thing: the bar tile was making my feet slip. Definitely coming back to see Bianca! What an amazing Christmas experience!

Terrible!BEWARE!!!! Found a roach in my food. This is so gross and unsanitary. I ate some of the pasta where the same spot i noticed that theres little dead roach in it. This is beyond unacceptable! This is a big health risk! I am so upset. G

Tails on shrimp pasta

Red lobster used to be a lovely place to go for seafood without the high prices of seafood, of course the quality was never supposed to be as good either but you get what you pay for. There prices have sky rocketed for worse quality of food. Be pared if you order any pasta to dig the shrimp out and remove the tails yourself. I asked our very nice waitress about the tails on the shrimp and she said that's just how they serve shrimp pastas now. The endless shrimp is only cool if you plan to stay hours and come alone because the rest of your party will be done with their food before your second portion ever arrives. It seems they wait you out so your food settles therefore not full anymore. Never going to any red lobster ever again and that's sad because my family & I used to love it.

Elias was the person who assisted me and the service was fine just a couple of missed opportunities. I asked for recommendation between the shells and cheese or the crab grits, Elias immediately recommended the shells and cheese. There was an add on for Crab that I forgot to ask about and I totally would have gone for it. Missed opportunity number one. Second was for dessert, that wasn't recommended at all. I love me a good dessert so was a bit disappointed. Follow up after the meal arrived was delayed almost as an after thought when the table next to me wrapped up. Anyhoo got the sea bass and the shells and cheese both were and that ma. And cheese is to die for. Soooo damn good. Overall still a solid place jservixe could have used a bit of improvement.

You are given are complimentary hush puppies. Can't comment on those as hush puppies aren't my personal favorite regardless. We ordered the grilled oysters and calamari as a starter. The oysters were nice and had a small kick with the pepper. The calamari was a bit underwhelming, I've had better else where. I ordered the potato crusted sea bass and a side of brussel sprouts. The dish was buttery and well cooked. The sprouts had a nice flavor and cook to them as well. I would definitely reorder that. The table has shared some Mac and cheese which I enjoyed and tasted the red snapper entree which had a more mild, tomato based flavor that wasn't bad but wasn't life changing. Overall, a lot of the dishes sound appetizing and for the most part were. At this price point I'd want all dishes to be equally as good and that's where one star was taken.

This is the Austin branch of the Hutto Cajun Seafood Truck Pete's Seafood…read more They used to be at the Picnic on Barton Springs Road. They have moved up to 5000 Burnet. This shows they have good taste, good judgement and want to be near neighboring trucks that serve fine food. * * * How is Pete's? a) Nearly all Cajun seafood is good. Cajun seafood is like chocolate. There is better. There is worse. It is never bad. b) Pete's boiled Cajun shrimp is completely lovely. I would eat this over and over again. Since Pete's is near my house, I intend to become a regular. c) Cajun seafood is much easier to eat in a restaurant than at a food truck. This is because the final concoction is wet (due to the boiling stock) oily (because the oils make things taste good) and bright red (because of the spices.) You are looking at a dry cleaner's dream. In a restaurant you get solid plates and bowls to eat the good stuff in. At Pete's you get a Styrofoam container to hold the mess. This is like using a cotton bag to take home red paint. Fortunately, the slosharound stayed within the plastic bag the Styrofoam container was placed in. But one pinprick and it would have been upholstery cleaning time. d) The spices in Pete's seafood is NOT even. There WILL be the big bites of salt and the big bites of cayenne pepper. Be sure to order boiled potatoes as your side and save two or three to the end. You will need them to put out mouth emergencies. e) The non-emergency bites are wonderful. Having to put out fires with potatoes is a fair price for a meal with a lot of taste thrills. * * * Thumbs up for the seafood. Double thumbs up for the potatoes.

He did inform me that the drink fridge was down so all the drinks weren't cold, I thanked him and told him it wasn't a big deal. I'm glad he was honest. It is a bit on the pricey side, but if you're looking for amazing seafood with nice big portions, this is the place to come to! I will definitely be back

We tried two kinds of ceviche and a shrimp taco. the ceviche with mango - it was good but was lacking lime and citrus flavor but overall the choices of seafood was greatly balanced with the red onion and tomato and all. 3 Amigos ceviche - this was really nicely done with the zest, citrus flavor and the combo of all i ingredients. it just happened to be a tad on the saltier side ( may have been just today's batch that had too much salt). Really enjoyed that both ceviches did come with good amount of crunchy tostada. We also tried the shrimp taco. The seafood tower was really large and the seafood was fresh. the mango ceviche was another top favorite. The fried fish was overcooked and small for the price.
