My family have been customers of this place for 4+ years. The food is great but the service leaves much to be desired. We have spent thousands of dollars with this place. We placed an order tonight at 7:30pm and it's 9pm and we still haven't received our food. (For context, the place is 4 miles away from us.) We call to cancel, and they first tell us it's a busy night and the driver is on his way. My mom still wants to cancel the order, fearing we are getting not fresh food. So, I call back and my mom cancels the order. The associate on the phone says "if you cancel this order, don't call back again". He proceeds to swear at my mother, saying "F-ck you" before hanging up. If this is how long time customers are treated I shudder to this of how new customers will be treated. read more

I understand that a small mom and pop Chinese restaurant isn't easy to keep as clean as they'd like and that they're going to struggle. However to just kick out inspectors who are trying to do their job so you can at least TRY to fix what's wrong is irresponsible. I haven't eaten here since that article. When me and my family discovered this restaurant two months ago we were so happy about it. We even use to recommend it to others. The food was great, we loved it. We are from New York City so we was looking for Chinese food as good as New York Own. Well, today January 2nd, 2023 we decided to get some Chinese and I now have a story to tell, how a restaurant that was once 5 stars in my eyes just became a 1. I went in today a few minutes after my sister who was currently deciding what she wanted. I ordered a spring roll and shrimp lo mein with chicken wings, no vegetables. The cashier was trying to charge me $28, which was a error, this would be the first red flag. My order was only $18. Fast forward to me getting my order, i was served chicken wing with vegetable lo mein, I immediately alerted the cashier that my order was wrong and he got defensive and told me that I did not say " no vegetables" when indeed I did and who ever else was in the store at the time had heard me. He started to be very rude about it. He told me that he is not changing it even after asking me what was my order suppose to be. He refused, he was insinuating that I order it over again. My aunt was also in the process of trying to order chicken wings in which he was trying to ignore my complaint and continue with anyone else who came in. She told him to please fix my order and then she will finish hers. This man seems to be very bipolar. He went from aggressive to happy about 4 times. He was very very rude. He even told me that if I did say "no vegetables" he will kill himself, he said this twice, idk what was his issue. I told him to run back the camera and he ignored of course because the camera does not work. He kept arguing and then telling me "One Minute" in between phone calls and persons coming in to order. My food sat untouched, unattended, he was refusing to fix my order. He then happily took the food and said something in Chinese to the cooks and they all looked at me ... I didn't trust that, I tried to stay in the view just to make sure they were not doing anything evil to my food and he demanded that I sit down, which is so suspicious to me. He still continued to argue with me and stated that he only like people who order online. He was very disgusting, he didn't even care if other customers were in the store, he still continued. He proceeded to ask me if I came from Jamaica because of the fact that I wanted my food corrected, he was trying to insult me any how possible. Again, he was behaving very manic and bipolar. When my food was finally fixed, he gave me a evil smile and slammed my food down on the table to be picked up and proceeded to tell me "DO NOT COME BACK HERE" he told me this twice. I've ordered from them for years now, probably once or twice a week. The food is declining in quality. The last couple times I requested no onions and I ate the other food I ordered. Today I ordered chicken lomein and specifically said 'NO ONONS" and guess what my food came with extra onions..I called and the man was very rude and said I didn't explain enough and should of told them, I said sir I said no onions, so that means no onions..He was very nasty and rude and I said I've been a loyal customer to you guys for years and you just lost me as a customer and he started cursing... I noticed this place for the first time a few months back, not sure how long they've been in business. China Moon has been our go to for Chinese in the neighborhood for almost 20 years now, but we were very impressed with our first order from Red Lantern. We ordered our regular combos, general tso chicken, sweet and sour pork, with an order of krab rangoon. All three we're dare I say superior to our old standby. The krab rangoon especially stood out, they were quite large and stuffed full of crab and cream cheese. They had very good flavor and were not at all greasy. General tso's was very well prepared, a little sweeter and not as spicy as I would have liked but I will ask for a little more heat next time. Sweet and sour pork was great. Very crispy, not greasy at all served with tons of really good sweet and sour sauce. Pork fried rice was about 98% rice 2% pork and veggies, but it had good flavor and texture. Read the reviews first before ordering, and i I wasn't disappointed. My family ordered the crab ragoon (plenty of filling), general tsao's chicken medium spicy, steamed dumplings, fried dumplings, porklo mein and eggrolls. It was all delicious, plenty of flavor, great portions for lower prices and they honor all coupons on their website. I had a found a coupon for free small order of honey chicken withpurchase of $50 or more. They offered me an upgrade and instead of a small, they gave me medium for free. The lady who took my order and the delivery man were very courteous and very nice. They even gave us a free 2015 calendar lol. We were very impressed and will definately order again in the future. Best Chinese take out we have ever had! We got Lo Mein, Sweet and Sour, General Tso's chicken, and steamed dumplings. The General Tso's chicken came with an a egg roll and it was by far the best I have ever had and that's saying allot because I am not a huge fan of egg rolls. I've ordered from this restaurant a few times in the past and not had any trouble, but this evening I experienced the absolute worst in customer service. My mother and I placed our order online and she received a confirmation email and everything. Fast forward an hour and a half, and no food has arrived. My mother called the number in the confirmation email she received, and was told that they never received our order--and was laughed at. As it apparently turns out, there are two systems in place for ordering on the website--and only one of them works. If you're replacing an ordering system, why would you keep the other one active? The woman on the phone laughed at my mom's complaints and spoke in the most condescending tone I've heard from a customer-facing employee in a long time. How is it funny when a customer who has given you over $100 in business in the past is now appalled at your service and won't have anything to do with you anymore? What is funny about a website that not only has an apparently non-functional ordering system in place, but also leads your customers to believe that they have successfully placed an order via confirmation email, and then there's no follow up? I am utterly appalled at the level of service we received this evening.
