After finding out that my previous go to Chinese restaurant closed, I decided to give China Wok a try since it had good reviews and was close to home. I'm super picky with Chinese restaurants and am always hesitant to try someplace new. China wok did not disappoint! We ordered to go on a rainy Saturday night. Ordering Online via their website was super easy and they gave an estimated 30 minutes until it would be ready. When my husband went to pick it up, he said the credit card machine was down so it took a few extra minutes but everything was ready within the time given. We started with the wanton soup. I added this on a wim since it was raining it sounded so cozy. It was the best wonton soup I've had! Nice and gingery and tasty! My husband ordered the sweet and sour combination dinner and I ordered the honey chicken combination dinner. The dinners come with fried rice and an egg roll. Good portion and plenty for a leftover lunch the next day. I was a bit bummed that the chicken had the sauce on the side but not that big of a deal. The egg roll was a little over fried as well. Food was not that good at all. Different from most other places and the fried chicken was so greasy it was almost inedible. Total waster of 128. We ordered for a group of 6. If you're going to China Wok don't think in terms of Cantonese, Szechuan, or any of the classic styles of Chinese cuisine. Instead think New York Style Chinese street food; a culinary insult to the wonders of what are real Chinese. When Chinese began immigrating into the United States, they were faced with the problems of available ingredients, lack of Chinese foodstuffs and having to Westernize in order to satisfy local palates. Hence dishes such as General Tao's Chicken and Chop Suey, which you won't find in China, were created. And if there ever was a restaurant that epitomized this rather disgusting stylization of Chinese food, it's China Wok. China Wok is just a little counter order hole in the wall of a fast Chinese food place. No décor or ambiance to speak of and the menu seems to be an overhead board with pictures of their offerings. Though it has a couple of tables, its focus clearly seems to be towards take out. For my meal I ended up sharing a General Tao's Chicken and a Pepper Steak with Onion. The taste, flavor, texture totally exemplified the worst of these knockoff imitations of what is Chinese food. Tao's Chicken was way overly sweet and the thin sliced for tenderness steak of the Pepper Steak full of untrimmed fats, grizzle and obviously of the cheapest cuts of beef, which left me hoping it was in fact beef. On the good side, however, it really was New York Style, the variant of what was Chinese as sold on the streets of New York; something unheard of in China. So for having New York stylized as does just about every so-called Chinese restaurant in Broward, Two Stars as though I have even, if you believe it possible, had better. read more

I was craving sweet and sour chicken (a childhood favorite), so I ordered the dinner combo which came with generous portions of chicken, pork fried rice, and an egg roll. This is overdue for me. China Wok is great. Everything I get tastes delicious. And it's affordable as hell. I seriously order from here like 3-4 times a week. I don't get out much. Is China Wok authentic? Hell no. The owner and staff might be Chinese - they're also friendly :) - but the cooking is Americanized Chinese as hell. When they say "New York Style" they sure mean it. Don't expect anything close to authentic Sichuan cooking here. But that doesn't mean China Wok is bad. For American Chinese food, it's very good. Everything is cooked well. They will kick up the spice a little bit - not anywhere close to true Sichuan Spice, but enough for a typical American to enjoy. I don't grade "Chinese" restaurants on authenticity (though it never hurts). But this is damn good, affordable American Chinese food. I recommend it if you are into that type of thing. I certainly don't mind it, so I keep coming back. And as long as they keep up the quality, they will have my business. 5 Stars. read more

I'm gonna make this quick. I've seen much nicer and cleaner Chinese takeout restaurants. The pictures of their prepared food over the counter are always a dealbreaker for me . The windows are dirty. Signs are held up by scotch tape, as well as the broken light switch. The tables all have duct tape around the feet holding cardboard to them for stability. Doesn't bode well for the food. I heard from friends the food here is good, so I threw caution to the wind, ignored my instincts and dove right in The employees were all polite and nice. I have no complaints with customer service. I ordered bourbon chicken, the mystery meat was rubbery and could honestly have been anything My favorite part of Chinese food is the egg roll. Their egg rolls were not bad, not greasy, but not flavorful either. The fried dumplings were VERY GOOD. BBQ ribs, I don't eat, my husband said no, threw them out. Orange chicken....again, rubbery chicken. Fried rice, meh. Okay, so my review wasn't THAT quick. They get one star for the dumplings and one for customer service.
