For a take-out only restaurant, we were surprised at the quality of the food -- as well as the quantity. I'd driven by this place before, but there'd never been any open parking spots. It's in a different type of location -- a very small strip of businesses with only a few spots in front -- in the middle of a residential location. We were driving by between lunch and dinner and decided to stop to bring some food home for a later meal. When we stopped by, we got to meet the owners and chef. They were both very welcoming and friendly. He told us about some special meals and made suggestions. He was preparing some blue crabs for his own lunch, and they looked wonderful. You can get some special meals here, off menu, if you preorder. We went with a couple of our usual choices so we could see how they compared. We ordered some pork with Chinese vegetables and an order of Singapore rice noodles. Plus, for me an order of egg roll. The rice noodles were such a large portion that it filled two containers. And we wound up eating several meals from our take home food. The eggroll was very good. I ate one right away! There were two to the order. It had a different crispy wrapper -- it seemed house made. And it was filled with larger bits of meat. I really liked it. There was a lot of large flat pork slices in with the vegetables. In a brown sauce, there was broccoli, bok choy, pea pods, etc. It came with a side container of white rice. The rice noodles were fragrant with curry, but it only had a slight kick (as in not too spicy). There were lots of shrimp, chicken, and pork strips mixed in with the thin noodles. This dish was addictive. We are so glad we stopped to try them. Really one of the better Chinese places we've tried and certainly one of the better take-out places. I recently moved to the area and just finished working out at the gym and wanted to pick up something to eat on my way home. I quickly scanned what was around and found this unassuming Chinese restaurant nearby. It had good reviews so I placed my order to pick up. It said my order will be ready in 15 minutes, but since it was so close, I arrived early. A gentleman came out from the kitchen and greeted me by saying "hello friend, i'm still working on your order. It will be ready in a few minutes." a few minutes later a sweet lady appeared from the kitchen with my takeout containers neatly packed in a box. I'm guessing it's a husband and wife team. They did everything right and they are the sweetest people. The food was absolutely delicious. The portions are plentiful and the food flavorful. I love getting my take out Chinese from May's in Pompano, but based on the reviews on Pagoda, I decided to give it a try. - Online Ordering. They have a website where you can order online right at the moment or schedule for future pick up if you get on when they are closed. So I placed a lunch order at 9AM for pickup at 12:15 pm. The price on the website said $12.04 total, but it would not let me pay online, it said Pay at the Store. OK, I said. - Pick up. At 12:15pm I arrived at the restaurant to pick up my order and the lady said there was no order for me. She even checked her phone and she said...No Order. So I had to tell them what I wanted (Lunch #17 Boneless ribs with pork fried rice and egg roll). As I handed her my credit card, she said their land line phone was not woking so they could only take cash...and she told me it was $13.04. Prices have gone up she said. I was very upset on the lack of transparency from their website and from their menu. - Food. I finally got home and had my lunch. I placed the egg roll in my toaster oven for even crisper texture and it was good. The pork fried rice was also good, not a lot of pork in it, but not bad. The boneless ribs were not fresh. My family used to own a Chinese restaurant and I can tell when the Char Siu (Boneless spare ribs) are day-old ones. This was not a fresh batch. It also had a lot of fatty pieces in it, not lean as it should be. Overall not happy with my experience. I don't think I would be coming back. I'm originally from New York and have been searching for something that comes close to the flavor and quality I grew up with--and this place absolutely nails it. The food is soooo good. I purchased a chicken lo Mein for lunch. The portion size was huge and shareable! The chicken pieces were sliced small and there were pieces throughout. White onions and peppers were also toppings included. I would suggest adding sauce to give it more flavor as the dish wasn't moist throughout. I had takeout from here last week and was very impressed! The owner was so sweet. She kept thanking us for ordering and even threw in a 2 liter sprite for our large order. Very nice. The crab rangoons are delicious. Egg rolls were solid. A little thin and not like the ones I love but still very tasty. Pork fried rice was huge! A very large serving with nice chunks of roasted pork. It wasn't overly greasy like some other places. I really liked it! Chicken chow mein was good too. I don't know many people that order this but my dad used to always get it when I was a kid so I always order it. It's just vegetables (celery, onion and bean sprouts) and chicken in like a clear sauce. We also got a shrimp dish that wasn't my favorite. It was ok, but probably won't order that again. I stopped by Pagoda recently after a workout- I was starving and craving Chinese food and since I have never been I wanted to give it a try. I live in the area so adding a new place to my ever-growing list of take out options is a plus for me. Now since I was on foot I already I walked in, but this is merely a take out place. She asked me if it was to-go, but honestly there isn't any place to eat it inside if I said otherwise. But there is a bench to sit and wait for your food to be prepared. I ordered a bunch of things. First off, I tried their Sesame Chicken combination platter which came with an egg roll and soup- I got wonton. And I got an order of crab rangoon. Overall it only took a few minutes for everything to be ready. She packed it all up nicely and I walked home. The food was fresh and hot, which I really appreciated since I was on foot. I liked the Sesame Chicken a lot. It had a ton of sauce to it and the sauce was so sweet and tangy. The crab rangoon were okay- I'd say they needed some more sugar in them as it just kind of tasted only like cream cheese. I loved the pork-fried rice and the wonton soup. Overall it was great. Located within the showing its age 38th Street Plaza which is in fact more a strip mall than a plaza, you'll find a strictly takeout Chinese restaurant named Pagoda. The Chinese food, of course, isn't really Chinese as far as any authenticity goes, but more on the order of the ever so common New York Style Chinese even though they don't have General Tao chicken; thank goodness. Overall it has a really good complete menu, even with kid's selections and portions. For my meal I had their steamed shrimp ($13.95) with what turned out to be a really large varied assortment of nicely done vegetables. The lady taking my order and doing the cooking couldn't have been kinder or more polite. But of course everything is served in Styrofoam or plastic, nut such is life when doing takeouts. read more

The prices are absolutely astronomical for the blandness of the food.you get a large portion.. however I think that's where they rip people off. Best Orange Beef around! This is our favorite takeout spot as there is no seating. Wonderful couple that are so very sweet. Everything we have ordered over the years ordering from here has been fantastic. Hot wings are fire! Chinese style wings with scotch bonnet hot peppers and onions on top. Szechuan tofu with vegetables Is always on our order as well. Not all things on the menu are always available (special section on bottom of the menu) you just need to pre-order the day before. I went to this spot because Bamboo Asian succumbed to the pandemic and had to close (so sad). I wanted good chinese food and since I read Blue's review I decided to give them a try. The spot itself is pretty small. Not in the best area and I went by myself at night. The Kwik mart next door had a lot of men outside drinking and smoking. Some sitting on the curb near the restaurant. I suggest women go in the daytime or just have them deliver. I will do that next time I order. This place is only takeout and delivery......no seating. I was so sweetly greeted by the owner. She smiled and said "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!" I love speaking with people and developing relationships with them especially when it comes to where I eat. She proceeded to tell me they would be open New Years Eve as she so sweetly smiled while shaking her head as to say they are so busy already "Work, Work, Work!" I thanked her for being available to us during her holidays. Now on to the food! We ordered the jumbo shrimp fried rice and salt and pepper shrimp. The shrimp fried rice was 3 days worth of food (for 2 super greedy people like us) for like $16! Wow....when I order jumbo fried rice anywhere else it just comes in a bucket.....this place gave us a half pan of rice full of shrimp! It was pretty good needed a bit more seasoning or.......something. I have had better but I would buy it again. I asked them to add broccoli and they gave us a generous potion. The salt and pepper shrimp was awesome! It came with a super spicy pepper sauce and I have to say, my husband and I love EVERYTHING spicy this was too much but still sooooo good. Best quality of Chinese food that is delivered. We have tried about three places, and this one is the best. I'm honestly starting to think Chinese food here in Lauderdale is just different than what I'm used to in the Midwest. So while I wasn't a huge fan, the food itself was so HOT and fresh. My boyfriend really liked it, and he is picky. You get a ton of food for the price. We ordered the generals tso chicken and sesame shrimp. Although we received two chicken dishes, no shrimp. I'm not sure which was what or if they were even different. But they were both good. Lo mein was a favorite for the boyfriend. What can I say other than 5-stars all the way. The best Chinese fast-food in Oakland Park and Fort Lauderdale. While in a neighborhood and strip mall that is showing its age (who cares) and that they do not have dine-in (who cares) they just plain and simple have the best take-out! What a great mom-pop restaurant with the most friendly people you could meet. Their son sits behind the counter and does his home work and is so polite, friendly and incredibly smart! AMENDED REVIEW!!!! Now I understand the terrible reviews. Placed an order for $70 worth of food - which they made me prepay for. Odd since the owner recognizes me every time and remembers my vegetarian requests. Was told 20 minutes. Drove our out of town guests back to our house and returned promptly 20 minutes later. Waited over an hour and half and NEVER GOT MY FOOD. Husband and wife owners were screaming at each other nonstop. We had company in town with a house full of hungry guests. Kept asking owner lady to refund my money and she kept SCREAMING at me that I had to wait. She was literally screaming at me. I finally ended up walking out and had to file a grievance with my credit card company. I will never as long as I live set foot in this place again - ever! Worst. Service. Ever. After reading some of the other reviews, I was a bit hesitant to try - but - our regular Chinese place (of 15 years) we learned, had been closed for rodent droppings and other health violations. To address some of the other posts 1. Yes, the neighborhood is scary. It sits right on the border of the nice gayborhood and a really rough neighborhood on Andrews. I watched the doors to the kitchen several times and it seems very clean regardless of the scary shopping center. 2. It's not a sit down restaurant. Take out only. 3. The front desk lady and her husband were SUPER friendly. Their child was doing homework behind the counter and never looked up - so maybe other reviewer confused that for being ignored. The lady at counter was super helpful with my numerous questions about the menu - and she helped me modify some dishes to make them vegetarian for me. With those things said, the veggie lo mein was excellent. The flavor - perfect. The veggie fried rice was great. They gladly made it with no egg for me. The veggie spring rolls were very good. Ordered today based on previous reviews we were told 25 minutes I got there in 30 minutes and was told "order not ready" she did not even ask for my name I believe they started cooking my order when I arrived as I waited 30 minutes before she gave ma a total then when I paid I reviewed my order and asked why is it more than menu sitting on the counter she said due to COVID prices are .50-$1 more I was charged $15 more on a $50 total. I was charged $65 and when I got home I ate the hot & sour that was so spicy I had to throw it put after asking for not spicy on anything. The pork fried rice was yellow rice like a paella. We ordered the sesame and general tso chicken which came with pork fried rice, egg roll, choice of wonton or egg drop soup. All were great in portion size but both the dishes tasted the same, just one had sesame seeds. Everything was tasty and the chicken was great because it didn't have a lot of batter.
