I'm from Connecticut and good Chinese food is hard to find down here. I have to say this is one of the best places I've tried down here (after giving up several years ago lol). I got the pork fried dumplings and they were perfectly crisp on one side with very tasty soy sauce. I also got the sesame chicken dinner which came with enough food to last 3 meals and I really enjoyed it. I will say I wish there was more rice, but it was packed with chicken. I just wanna grab something and relax at home. I picked up my phone and searched on Yelp for restaurants near me. Bamboo Wok appeared on the top of the list...ok, let's do Chinese. Located in the Westcreek Common Shopping Center, Bamboo Wok serves up a vast variety of Hunan, Szechuan, and Mandarin cuisine. Upon entering, I greeted a male employee behind the counter and placed an order for a pint of house special fried rice. The food was prepared really quickly and it was cooked to satisfaction. Filled with tender pieces of roast pork, chicken, shrimp, onions, and peas. It wasn't greasy or salty. There's a table with boxes filled with utensils, sauce packets, napkins, and fortune cookies. Ordered Bamboo Wok for the first time as I really wanted to try chow mein as I've never had it before. I got a pint of chicken chow mein which comes with a side of white rice and crispy noodles. In case I didn't like the chow mein, I also ordered a combo of the boneless spare ribs with pork fried rice (also comes with an egg roll and wonton soup) and an order of krab rangoon (8). I'm writing this review being transparent as I've never had chow mein before, but it was horrible. So incredibly wet, bland, soggy and there were absolutely no noodles in the dish at all. All the chow mein recipes I looked at online had noodles in it, similar to lo mein. And it just seemed as though all the chicken and veggies were boiled in the same pot and then put straight from the water into a container. I'm really happy I got my backup dish, because the boneless spare ribs were incredible. Crispy and chewy, not a lot of fat on them at all. The pork fried rice, wonton soup and egg roll were pretty standard that you would find at any Chinese restaurant. Not spectacular, but satisfies your craving. The krab rangoon were also a let down, not a lot of filling at all, and I didn't taste or see any crab. Everything I got was $45, which seems reasonable, except for the fact that the chow mein is completely inedible. Again, I don't know if that's how chow mein is supposed to be, but you could see from the photos how insanely bland this dish is. Also, on other menus, I've seen that they notate that some of the chow mein dishes do not contain noodles, that was not the case on this menu, so I had no idea it didn't have noodles in it. Went to this take out place for the first time - 2 days ago on Friday. My husband and I thought the food was too savory with too much gravy and salty and then realized it must have MSG in it. It was my own mistake for not asking them BEFORE ordering. My husband got really ill from the food but surprisingly I did not. It is not very fresh tasting either. There must be better places out there. I guess I will stick with the Panda Express from now on. read more

Despite the fact that I do not find all their dishes to be all that good, the ones that are good in addition to the efforts they've taken in the COVID pandemic, have won me over. After numerous disappointing visits to the Chinese take out by our house, this one was recommended and we gave it a shot (along with some others that we disliked). First impression placing the order was the girl was friendly... and the order (as with all orders) are prepared quickly. Chinese take-out restaurants always have this stigma of not being the cleanest... or maybe it's just me, but this place is kept clean. The food was decent, some dishes are very good and some dishes have sadly disappointed. The dishes we've enjoyed over the past year are the Egg Foo Young, Moo Shu Pork, Honey-Garlic Chicken and some of the noodle dishes. One dish I have always ordered as an appetizer for decades is Boneless Spareribs; for some reason it's always off here (either too oily, too over-cooked/dry or too fatty) and I don't like their Egg Rolls; but don't get me wrong, over the food is quite good (just skip the Boneless Sparerib and Egg Rolls). As far as the COVID pandemic... they were closed for a few weeks until it was safe as they were one of the first places I saw install the plexiglass barriers; and theirs is better than others. Most places (like grocery stores, fast food places and even Home Deport) have a single panel that most people just stick their heads around the side of, so the staff member and the customer are no longer getting the benefit of the barrier wall. Bamboo Wok has a full wall and even the food is passed though a double door plexiglass box. They have handsanitizer for you to use (after you use a pen to sign your credit card slip or touch anything). They require a mask (as all places should) but if you don't have one, they have free ones in individual bags (where other asian take-out places I have been have been jumping on the bandwagon to sell overpriced ones). You'd think it's easy to find good Chinese food around Broward. We tried some clunkers I tell you. This place is different. Fair priced, generous portions and above all it tastes good. Great broth on their WonTon soup, we have had their dumplings which are excellent steamed or fried. Great Chicken skewers and Boneless pork. Main Courses, Chicken with Cashew, Garlic sauce and Kung Po are my favorites there. They all have similar veggies but the sauces differ greatly. I was somewhat reluctant to do Chinese take out during this virus. Bamboo Wok was prepared and met the challenge!! They had acrylic barriers and lots of touch free stations and hand sanitizer and all wore masks. They were great and well protected! There was only one customer on line without a mask and no comment was made. We ordered eggdrop wonton mix soup which was very good. Great steamed dumplings with a nice amount of ginger. The spare ribs were great. Enjoyed the cold sesame noodles. I think they chopped up peanuts to mix in. Then we had the moo shoo pork. All winners! Flavors were great and they were organized. Thanks. FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY i found a place to get chinese food that is not only good but the place claims new york style and when i ate it i felt like being back in new york. The food was really good and unlike a lot of chinese take out places, Bamboo Wok is clean. And the staff is all very nice and each time I come they give us cans of soda or seltzer; they must have some sort of promotion but I'm not complaining. And I just found out they have 2 other locations in Boca and Boynton. Ordered 2 dinner specials and 2 appetizers and there were issues with almost everything. Meat was very fatty. A couple of the crab lagoons had no filling in them and had a napkin inside the food container (please let it just have been used to pick up the hot ragoons!!). We were always a fan of Great Wall side to distance and the food was pretty darn good. The past 4 out of 5 times, quality had gone down. So, we decided to try something new and found Bamboo Wok. Just a little bit further away and extremely well worth it. The portion s are the same as any Chinese restaurant, however; the ingredients are so much better and I guess the best work is larger pieces of meat and veggies. I love the Food at Bamboo Wok. It is consistently fresh and hot when I come to pick up, usually after fifteen minutes. My daughter loves their shrimp lomein. There is plenty of shrimp in the lomein and they are a nice size and perfectly cooked. We have tried many dishes and have always been very satisfied with the freshness and quality of the food. By the time we get home, the food is still hot and ready for us to eat right away. They have taken many precautions during Covid-19 and the restaurant is clean and very efficient. They keep free individually bagged disposable masks near the door, ready for anyone to take who doesn't have a mask on to take one. read more

Never have been disappointed, ok I lied only once rice was undercooked but it was an easy fix they made me a new dish. They are part of our community and one of the best Asian Restaurants around. OK.....the food was fine. I only had chicken fried rice which had large pieces of fresh white meat chicken however there were a lot of onions, which I am not a fan of. Other than the onions which I pick out, it was good. I also had the shrimp toast appetizer. When I was in New York I had some toast all the time oh, it was my favorite. I've been in Florida for decades and have not been able to find anyone that makes it so I was excited when I saw them offer this on the menu. It was okay, nothing more, nothing less. I would go back to this place if I'm in that area again. It's just a small take-out place with only two or three tables but they had shrimp toast.
