Came just in time before their lunch special ended at 3pm. There were a couple of people inside ordering take out when I entered. A female employee greeted me as I looked at the menu on the counter. I decided on the bourbon chicken which was served with my choice of fried rice and wonton soup. I asked the female if wonton noodles came with the soup and she assured me that she would put a small bag along with the food. It was about a 15 minute wait. There are adequate table seating if you want to eat your food inside. The wonton soup was just the right size for me...usually the container has too much broth and I end up throwing it away after eating the wontons. Broth wasn't salty and wontons didn't have a chewy texture like it was sitting in the broth for too long. The bourbon chicken was nicely prepared and complemented the fried rice well. I used the duck & soy sauce packets provided to add some flavor to the fried rice as it was cooked with no salt. This is a convenient and local take-out place for us. We ordered our dinner to be picked up. It takes me about 10 minutes to get to the restaurant and when I arrived, they were just bagging our order. The Singapore Rice Noodles is one of my favorites and my wife wanted to try the Mongolian Beef dish. Driving I got to enjoy the delicious wafting aromas from the food in my car. When we opened our container dishes everything was quite appealing and upon digging in, delicious as well! The Singapore rice noodles had plenty of chicken, veggies, pork and lots of tender shrimp. Last night I ordered Moo Shu pork, and Mongolian beef. The Mongolian beef had a good flavor but you would have a difficult time finding any meat, it was mostly onions and brown gravy. The same goes for the Moo Shu pork, had a good flavor and very hard to see much in the way of meat, that's even after paying $2.00 for extra meat. We called in our order and specified some spice but not mild in our dishes. We were told 15 minutes -- which is the usual answer to everything. Imagine our surprise when we got there on time and they actually were just bagging up our order. We got everything to go, but there are a couple tables in front of the counter where you could eat... should you want to. It really is more of a takeout place though. When we got home, the food was still piping hot. The Singapore rice noodles had lots of shrimp, pork, and chicken plus veggies mixed into the aromatic curry flavored noodles. With a touch of spice (red pepper flakes), it was perfect. We also got Mongolian beef -- thinly sliced tender pieces of meat mixed in with a ton of onions and scallions. A very tasty sauce -- so much so, that I was spooning it over the white rice that came with it. I think they're better than they were a year ago. Maybe a new chef? We are staying right next door in the Wyndham and wanted Chinese food. Googled it and found the number. Found a menu online which seemed old because after ordering the food, the total was a lot more than expected. Ordered wings with a quart of white rice, quart beef lo mein and a combination of boneless spare ribs with house special fried rice. The total was $30 and some cents. The portion was not worth the price-- it's definitely pricey! The lo mein tasted good but there was hardly any beef in there! The portion of the boneless spare ribs was small as well but according to my husband, it tasted real good. read more

It's authentic Chinese but only to the extent of having that "cheap Made in China" quality. Basically it's a nothing of a place, a mere fast food or takeout. For whatever reason if you long for Asian food, few Chinese restaurants with the possible exceptions of Silver Pond (simple but very authentic) or Rainbow Palace (gourmet, pricey and upper class), can possible hold a candle to any one of the Thai or Japanese restaurants. I've tried several of the China Star slopped together Americanized Chinese concoctions and failed to find any that were very good. read more

When you go to a different state for vacation, you go to places that the locals favor. You try different things. Me, I stick to what I know...Chinese food! This place was right across the street from our resort, so I decided to try it out.. I ordered the General Tso's chicken with lo mien and my sob ordered the same with fried rice. Let me tell you, this was the best damn GTC I have tastes...EVER! The chicken was so full of flavor with no gristle like you get at most restaurants. POOR VALUE. 3 Shrimp in their $14 dish!!!! Hi folks. If you want really really bad Chinese food with horrible customer service, than enjoy your meal at China star. I've tried twice to get the order issued resolved with perhaps a manager, the Asian woman at the counter. I ordered a premium dish for $14 that was supposed to have shrimp and scallops in it. There were only three shrimp and over cooked vegetables mostly carrots. When I informed them of it they said they would provide a credit. I just came in and now they're saying their are NOT going to honor their promise. Then she quite rudely informed me that they only put three shrimp in their premium dishes. The other dish I've ordered twice is eggplant and garlic. The second time I let them know that the first time I ordered it the eggplant was barely cooked. They promised me to cook this time. I took the food home to eat and discovered that it wasn't cooked again. Really really despise my experiences this restaurant. I do not recommend. read more

The staff used to be really friendly and the food was surprisingly delicious for a small "fast food" restaurant. Just recently they had a change of ownership, the quality of the food had gone down. The dish that I used to always order- Singapore rice noodle- now is so dry and tasteless. And I tried the new pai Thai for the first time, the noodle was drench in dark sauce and extremely salty... I'm happy to have China Star nearby. The food is good enough--it's your typical Chinese takeout, but it's definitely some of the better take out that I've had. And with that, I'd say it is hard to be overly picky with their prices. Whether you're ordering a lunch meal or a dinner platter, I don't spend more than $10 AND there is always leftovers. This is one of the best Chinese take-out places I've encountered around this area. I only gave it four stars because the name of this place along with its dingy-ish environment aren't exactly alluring factors that would draw people in. But it's take-out! My boyfriend and I usually order the chicken lo-mein and the sweet and sour chicken. The sweet and sour chicken is fried with some sort of batter that we dip in sweet and sour sauce. Yum, yum, yum! So good and crispy. We often order the crab rangoons that's also really good. There's a freshness to the food that I don't often taste at other Chinese take-outs. FYI, however, I've never tried anything with beef there. I'm often afraid to order beef dishes at any Chinese take-out restaurants since I've gotten one too many stale, extra chewy plates of beef dishes.
