My wife and I usually go to Hong Kong Islander for our Chinese food. But, we decided to try Red Lantern, which is located inside the Thunder Valley Casino. We were kinda weary since casino restaurants, other than in Vegas, tend to be more catered to local crowd tastes. We were surprised at how good our food was, how the kitchen took their time to make the plates coming out as appetizing and delicious as was the presentation. We started with the seafood soup with tofu. The order was good for at least 6 people and of course was very delicious. Then, we tried the Shanghai dumplings and they were like food for the angels of Heaven. Moist and very tasty. Next was the seafood Hong Kong style pan fried noodles. This has always been our favorite noodle dish and the quality was as good, if not better than the ones we tried in Hong Kong or Chinatown in the bay area. Afterward, I ordered the Crab claw shrimp ball. My wife was full but she still tried a bite and liked it very much. I loved it, although the sauce could have been a little more different than just sweet and sour. The service was extremely good. We met the maître d and already felt very good about the place offering smiles and welcoming us with that good feeling. Our server was really patient with us as we ordered our food one at a time since we didn't want to be overwhelmed and also wanted to have that Cantonese style dining. Everything was fantastic. I recommend this place if you want to have a really good Chinese/Cantonese dinner. The only problem I had was that since it's inside a casino, the cigarette smoke can be devastating. My husband and I sat at the bar for a quick bite and ordered the pupu platter. 50 minutes later, the most pathetic plate of cucumbers, cold yet deep fried straight out of the freezer appetizer plate arrived. We had such high hopes! They removed the pupu (insert joke here) from our bill but it will take at least another star on their Yelp rating to return. read more

It's a wonderful place if u want to inhale disgusting gas and get sick! They r AMAZING at messing up ur orders too. I ordered CHICKEN fried rice and got SHRIMP fried rice. The Red Lantern took over the old Koi Palace location inside the casino. This place is not good at all. It's suppose to be the same chef that was working at Koi but the food is definitely different from before. We ordered 3 dishes and 2 appetizers and the bill came out to 167.00. The couple sitting next to us had the same treatment and ended up just leaving. After being ignored from the servers we decided to leave. Never coming back. This place used to be great when it was Fat's/Koi but now the food is a tad too salty for my taste. I waited over 45 minutes for a bowl of noodle soup. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad. Zero stars, reserved a table at 9:30 waited 1 hr for our table. When arrived at 9:30 table was not ready. We had a party of 6 and there was only 4 plates available we waited 10min for water. Waited 30 mins for server to come take our order while she was busy cleaning tables while we were raising our hand to get service/order taken. I had my son's baptism reception at this restaurant and i was really happy for the service that they rendered us...this restaurant deserved an award for best authentic chinese food and excellent in customer service...Jack Wu (the manager who handled my party) he is the best...he went beyond what is expected, all the food that he suggested for our party menu was amazing all my guest were complimenting for the great choices and they love everything...Jack Wu thank you so much you are the best i cant thank you enough for what you've done for my son's party...by the way i ordered their cake and it is one of the best cake that we've ever tasted and everyone at the party are asking where did we get it...to the management of Red Lantern please take care of Mr Jack Wu because you'll never find someone like him...he is great on what he does and that is excellent customer service...from the bottom of my heart thank you...our guest even said they are coming back at this restaurant...the smoked sea bass and fish maw with crab meat soup is our favoritebut everything is great read more

We went for The Chinese food restaurant for a late dinner also. Don't waste your winnings it is not tasty at all. Bland won ton soup. Greasy spring rolls. Honey walnut prawns tasted very fishy . Worst Chinese ...cold room.. Table have nothing on them. They give u a fork and chop sticks and some hot sauce. Ordered a special noodle soup at $14, a special fried rice at $14 and cashew chicken. All horrible,,lacked flavor..veggies not cooked. Took 7-8 minutes for server to take order and then she bought it to us in about two minutes all at once. Had to ask for soy sauce. $54 with two beers. I could have got a a huge. meal at a regular Chinese restaurant. The buffet at TV is also horrible. This place needs a new chef. Will never return. read more

Wife and I went to have all you can eat sea food at the buffet, but forgot today was Mother's Day as in they got there welfare checks! Line was out rages so we did it for almost two hours and we were almost close, but the VIP came in with all there family's so we had it. Came for the lunch special with my husband. Ordered the pot stickers and spicy wonton apps. Then got the Honey Prawns and Broccoli Beef lunches. Everything besides the prawns was not good at all. The pot sticker filling was tough and dense. The spicy won tons had a weird gelatinous center with hard bits of meat. The beef in the lunch was grey and rubbery. I usually like Red Lantern but tonight's service is horrible. They seemed to cater more to the larger groups than couple diners. He forgot our drinks, wow how simple is a coke and hot tea, had to ask another server to bring it. They brought out our main dish but no rice. I am still waiting patiently, 20 minute wait for rice. By the time it gets here the main dish will be cold. Not impressed with them tonight. The food is always consistent and good but you need to work on your customer service. read more

Great food! We ordered General Chicken, Honey Walnut Prawns, Pork Fried Rice and Seasonal Vegetables and everything was delicious! It reminded me of PF Changs (I love their food), and the service was great. The portion sizes are large like PF Changs so two people could definitely share a plate. read more

We stopped by Red Lantern for dinner the other night to celebrate a friend's birthday at Thunder Valley Casino. It wasn't packed as usual and service was still slow. We were actually just about to get up and leave to eat elsewhere when a waitress finally came over to take our order. She apologized and promised the food would come out quickly. The hubby ordered their Vietnamese beef pho noodle soup (salty & nothing special) and I ordered their wonton soup (flavorful broth, wontons were huge and delish). Other than that nothing really stood out. Not really sure if we'd return any time soon. read more

I love this place! My favorite dish is the Mongolian Beef (medium spice). The decor is very nice.

Mojito not that good. Thai salad extremely salty. Sushi seems old and pre made. Only nice thing about our experience was the friendly waitress. read more
