Had a craving for Chinese last night, J's Cafe that we normally go to was closed. Thought try Red Lantern. Before I opened the bag I should've know it wasnt going to be good when my husband said Wow they arent very nice there. I didnt order anything difficult. Chicken Lo Mein extra Veg, pork fried rice, eggroll. They didnt even have to deliver, carryout. The cost was close to $40. Instead of the rice, we got 2 Lo Mein. Which was thin spaghetti noodle, the only Veg in it was several several huge pieces of broccoli and some snow peas, didnt even get the standard Veg. No sauce at all, only tasted the oil the cooked the chicken in. Had to make a 2nd trip to get the forgotten rice. Same thing no flavor added, the only reason the rice had color is the red stuff that's on the pork. The only part that was hot was the premade frozen eggroll, asked for several packs of hot mustard...that was a No, forgot that also. I have worked in retail food service for 40yrs. I understand how things are. Dont think I've ever commented on a restaurant. Well had to make 2 trips there I'm out $40. Sad I would have been better off getting frozen Chinese from King Soopers. Next time someone asks me a good Chinese place I will tell them where not to go read more

I don't live in Arvada, but I was down there the other night to run an errand, and I stopped in for dinner at this place. I was very pleased! I had the dinner special, which included soup, three appetizers, and the main course. I had the wonton soup, which was tasty and was sprinkled with nice, crispy lettuce--not soggy at all like you frequently find in wonton soup. The appetizers were delicious; I was worried at first b/c the beef skewer had a very wide slice of beef and there was no knife on the table. But it was tender enough for me to cut it with my fork. The entree I ordered was cashew chicken, and it was perfect--full of yummy veggies cooked firm enough, not soggy. The only thing that I'd say was possibly a little uninspired was the fried rice that came with it on the side, but the rice was serviceable enough, not bad. And the service was great--polite, very attentive. Even though I got there only about an hour before closing time, I never felt rushed at all, which was a relief--there seems to be a trend in restaurants these days of staffs wanting to start the closing process a couple hours before closing time and try to push the customers out the door early, but this place wasn't like that. Great experience--I would def. eat there again if I'm down that way, and I def. recommend it! read more

When I called, I asked specifically if the driver would bring the very simple items of hot mustard and sweet and sour sauce. Nope, it didn't happen. When I called to complain, the person on the phone said, "Oh, maybe they were busy." No apology whatsoever. As for the food, we ordered Kung pau beef and got kung pau chicken, tasteless. The lo mein was the worst I've ever had. Everything else, well, again, pretty tasteless. My husband can't taste because he had COVID-19, and I now know how he feels, because this meal had no taste whatever, and I haven't had COVID-19 and can generally taste food. But not this. I cannot understand all the good reviews. For New Year's Eve, this was a complete letdown. Going back to J's next time, or probably any other Chinese food restaurant. read more

This restaurant does not skimp on the food including the protein. I ordered combination egg foo young and it was packed with pork, chicken and shrimp. I ate a good amount of food and it looked like I didn't touch it. It was too good!! ;) I was a little disappointed...I wanted some moo shu and it wasn't offered. While they make a special concession for me and make szechuan chicken, they cannot make the pancake and plum sauce. Maybe, next time! read more

Oh my gosh, I just had to write this update...Last night I decided to try the #48 Pepper Prawns, since I usually order the normal. Well needless. To say it is By Far the BEST I've ever had! It was Soooooo literally D-m good that I ordered another as soon as they opened.. My only regret is that I didn't order two.... When ever I love something I order Two, one for now and another for later, I though of ordering two, but decided to get something else instead. Crazy me sould've stuck with my first instinct, but hey the good thing about it is that I'm gonna place another oder today and get two ordersm heck I might even get three.. The peppes and spices are so deliciously flavore I don't even need to use soy sauce.. Just this alone makes me give them a 5 star.. I can't believe I never ordered this in the past! I guess I'm not use to getting this dish cooked so delicious and devained. Most place don't devain their shrimp which is why I'm hesitant to order this any where else, but back ayt home in Hawaii at the nice places. This place is amazing. I love the food here.!!!!! Good Asian food is hard to come by. Freshly made and not bought from cisco where it is frozen. Lo mein has a smokey flavor that is so delicious. The egg rolls are freshly made everyday, so fresh you can taste it. Wonton soup is equally fresh and so tasteful. Crab Rangoon is also good and actually has Crab meat and not just cream cheese. Chicken is white meat and not just thighs. Nothing like other Asian restaurants where the chicken is always full of tendons and gets stuck in your teeth. You cannot go wrong here. I love so many dishes. Pork dishes are all great. Their shrimp dishes contain juicy and succulent shrimp. Sometimes hard to get through as they only have 1 line so your call might go to VM but fear not... keep calling, try something new. I've gone about 10 times now and have not been disappointed. We just moved into the neighborhood, and as the contents of our fridge right now consist of some baby food and a wide array of ketchups, curry pastes, and some wasabi mustard, we opted to order some carry out (BEFORE checking Yelp - shame on me). The food was made quickly, and to its defense, the Red Lantern evidently does make some tasty lemon chicken, according to my husband. I had the beef fried rice, which was pretty OK. I mean, it was beef fried rice. The crab rangoon, though? I believe they're called cream cheese wontons by folks of the non-midwestern variety...well, they were ass. There was no crab, no cream cheese - hardly anything inside the wrapper. I believe I might have inadvertently discovered a sliver of scallion, but I'm guessing that was a fluke. I thought the food and service was really good when I went here on the fly and had to switch dining in to take-out. Usually at Asian restaurants like these, I expect to have poor and rude service but our waitress was incredibly friendly and helpful. We got moo goo gai pan, beef lo mein and sesame chicken. Ordered a dish with lobster sauce - it came with canned vegetables in the dish. Yeah- you read that right, canned mushrooms, canned carrots, and peas. Just horrible. I am used to South Florida food. This city does not appeal to my pallet and I can understand why natives think the food is so great while those of us who moved here think the food sucks! I still have yet to find a chinese place I like. This one is okay but it's very bland. Even the person who took my order said this was American Chinese. The eggrolls were mediocre, the fried rice was barely friend (if even) just look like white rice tossed in butter, I was not a fan of my chicken dinner. I grew up eating at this place. Yep, I have been eating here for 20+ years. The owners and staff used to recognize me by the Buzz Lightyear toy I always brought with me as a kid. Love the people here! Anyway. The restaurant's interior has gone through many subtle changes over the years, as has the menu and quality of the food. Sometimes its too salty, but wait a few months and it will be good again. Soup is always good, I was raised on their egg drop, but now I'm a huge fan of their hot n' sour. Egg rolls are always good, not too greasy. The Pu-Pu platter was my favorite treat as a young'un. Loved roasting the skewers of meat to perfection, even if I was afraid of the popping fire sounds when fat dripped into it. Never forget to order crab cheese wontons! I love those things so much, and they are always excellent here!! Their veggie chow mein is really good, I just love the medley of veggies in plenty of savory sauce. We moved to Arvada about 2 years ago and have always looked around for a good Chinese Food Resturant. We kept receiving mailers for Red Lantern and decided to try it out. I'm not sure about you, but I always get a little nervous trying new Chinese food resturants. I checked Yelp for reviews and they were actually not very good.... but I gave it a shot anyways. I think they must have been taken over by new management or new cook or something because the food was delicious! The crab and cream cheese won ton's are full of filling, light and tasty. The chicken is always extremely tender, not over cooked, and all white meat, which is very hard to find! I recently tried a beef dish and it was tender and full of flavor. The only reason this does not get a full 5 stars is because of the wait time. I understand they are probably a very busy place but it takes a good 45 min-1.5 hours for your food to be delivered. You are better off driving and picking it up youself. read more

Outstanding! First time here. The gentleman up front was helpful and provided excellent service. Dinner was plenty of food for just one person (Got lunch for tomorrow). Pork Egg foo young was great. Eggs rolls crunchy and tasty. Overall 10+. Definitely will be back to try other dishes. If you're picky about the texture of your chicken, this is probably a safe bet for you. The red lantern chicken is lean, white meat and fried in a crispy, airy batter. The sauce is kind of like a mix between sweet and sour and general tso's. It's pretty good for your casual standard Americanized Chinese food, though a tad too sweet for me. If you dine in, they'll give you fried wontons to snack on. Half of mine were stale. Shrug. Lunch combo also comes with a soup and egg roll. The wonton soup is standard. I have been a customer here for at least 10 years. I can't think of one time where I have not enjoyed the food. They are very friendly and consistent. Some of the must try items are their lo mein, hot and sour soup, twice cooked pork, and of course their crab cheese won tons. My wife and I moved to Thornton from Denver about two years ago and since then we have been looking for a good near by Chinese restaurant and I believe we have found it. With this virus going on we were unable to eat in but the dining room looked fine. The food was hot and fresh. And customer service was good. We did have an issue. With everyone doing take out I would suggest everyone double check there orders before you leave the restaurant. Unfortunately we did not. But the restaurant quickly resolved the error. This is great Chinese food! I have been coming here for years! The customer service is superb and the food is wonderful! I am classic and always order sesame chicken or beef/chicken fried rice. Ordering these dishes is like ordering tacos at a mexican restaurant. I feel if they can nail these, then you already have something going for you. The portions are large, so I always usually have some leftovers for the next meal. Recently just ordered some of their bbq pork for appetizer and love it!
