Giving it 4 stars... this place is worth your visit for casual dining in the area.
Food is basic barbeque, grilled items, sandwiches and the like. Nothing too fancy (nothing over $20), and the drinks are margarita, mojito-ish...with the always steady martinis and wine. Cost about $45 p/person with appetizers and drinks and tip... Not overly priced with a lot of people trying the appetizers. Basically, instead of wings and burgers on a casual friday or saturday night go here instead.
On the Yelp reviews, a lot of criticism is placed on the staff... although those comments have a place, I feel they were undeserved after our experience. Although these were not the most professional staff I ever experience, we (a party of 12) had 2 staffers helping us, and all (food and drinks) were adequately served. No one waited too long for anything, all the apps were all brought at the same time, as were the meals (all brought at the same time). Kudos to the women serving us and the owner who came over to introduce himself, as well. He even sold one of my friend a long sleeve tshirt, which is an incredible feat that he'll finally wear a tshirt from a place other than rings end lumber ($3 each) or lenny and joes ($6 each).
This place is for local band fans as they seem to have bands all the time. So, if you're a local music lover, odds are you already know about this place.
The food was tasty. Very unique apps were had by all. Pork "drummettes" which were tiny pork ribs (or something) with a chili mango sauce, fried string beans (eh.. fair), fried pickles and okra (really great), and chicken wings (also great). Dinners ranged from fried chicken breasts (diner thought they were crispy and terrific), fish tacos (fresh, grilled (not fried), light but filling), duck wrap (tasty, unique), airplane chicken (terrific), salads, (great), etc... Out of a group of 12 no one was disappointed.
Most of the drinks are really unique and tasty. I had 1) mango jalopeno margarita, 2) a pink grapefruit margarita, and 3) a martini with jalopeno/bacon infused vodka. They seem to make special tequilas and vodka by infusing flavors, and then putting simple mixers (like syryp and other ingredients) to make drinks like margaritas, mojitos, bloody marys, and others... There wasn't too heavy a syrup/sugar base for the margarita (all were light and flavorful without being too syrupy) and the vodka really did have a baconny heat from the bacon and jalopenos. Personally, I loved the mango jalopeno margarita over all... My friend Lynn had 2 of those, and frankly, she's really not a drinker (save a glass of wine now and then). I might pass on the bacon jalopeno infused vodka next time, unless its put into a bloody mary... Its probably good for brunch.
This was a very enjoyable visit. For a group of 12 with heavy liquor, our bill was $435, not including tax or tip ($36.35/person for apps, heavy drinks, dinner). We enjoyed the service, and although they have the right to add 18% automatically (to large groups), they did not so, we added more (than 18%) in gratuity because we had such a good time and they did such a lovely job accommodating our large group of 12.
This really is a fun place, worth your visit. I'm not sure they have the capability to serve many large groups at one time, but they capably handled ours well and we appreciated their efforts. We all had fun, which frankly, is not always easy to do with our group of 12. I saw three other couples we knew there and they seemed to enjoy it as much as we did.
I heard they have an outdoor deck which is opening soon. Neither saw saw it, nor was I aware where it was.
