In town on business and decided to stop in. I try BBQ places all the time and I really like the ribs here!! I got the 16.99 ribs and brisket. I tried all three different kinds of ribs and I am SUPER glad I did. The ribs were Honey Bourbon, regular and spicy. Plenty of meat on each rib and a great crust. I am glad I tried the honey bourbon because I never would have tried it otherwise. Really good!! With the 16.99 - there were also two sides I could choose. The mac and cheese was recommended and I can see why. Overall delicious!! And at the very end of my meal, the owner came over and chatted with me. Wonderful woman!! This place is great - check it out!!! I will be back because the ribs were really good!!' If you're rolling through Tehachapi you gotta come here. They have a pretty full menu of awesome BBQ, a few different bbq sauces, and good portions for what you pay! I had the tri-tip which was perfectly cooked and think sliced. Fried pickles are Spears (not chips) but good batter and didn't fall apart. Chili had a nice spice to it. My buddy got the shrimp and it was a lot of work to eat (if you're a seafood fan). Very friendly staff and the for came out very quickly. This place is GREAT! One of our favorites! The best BBQ you will ever have and it's really fun to hang out. From the moment you hit the parking lot and smell the BBQ roaring out in their "shed" you know it's going to be great. The staff is so friendly and it's like coming into a person's home for lunch or dinner. The owner is ALWAYS greeting the customers and refilling your drinks...the whole staff is great. I love all their meals but my three favorites are Brisket, TriTip, and you have to try their Catfish...I love catfish and this is the best you'll ever have. Delicious BBQ. This restaurant has its own unique taste, unique enough that my husband and I drive two hours a couple times a year to eat here. The food here is legit. You can't really go wrong. I favor the Indian taco. I can't make that at home, so it is worth the trip out of the house for it. I like that this business supports the local causes and that they give discounts for cash, ASB cards and bulldog cards and such. Oh my!! If you ever happen upon this spot. The Indian taco hands down!! Staff and family are very sweet and kind. They check up on you to make sure you have what you need. They welcome you back when return if they recognize you- I'm a bit of a regular. The atmosphere is very unique and fun. My only disappointment is when I come too late in the day to get the bbq pulled chicken. Seeing this establishment had 4-1/2 stars on Yelp, we figured we would give it a try. Boy, do we regret that decision. When you walk in, it seems like an establishment where you wait to be seated, but not the case. Not a huge deal until you've been standing there about five minutes waiting to be seated. Next trying to find where you order is your next adventure. You would assume the counter to order would be at the front of the establishment or at least facing the front door. Again, not the case. If you follow the false wall around, you will find the place to order facing the back door. Again, not a huge deal until you've been standing in front of the point where you can first see the menu thinking someone will come take your order. Once we finally found where to order, we were greeted by a girl in maybe her teens wearing a tank top with major cleavage showing, which is not cool when you are trying to teach your children modesty and is definitely not business appropriate. The girl's gold scrunchie matched her thick eye shadow possibly highlighting her lack of maturity. We ordered a Pick Two Meat combo. When I tried ordering both pieces as the 1/2 chicken, I was told the two meats have to be different, so I ordered the 1/2 chicken and pulled chicken. I'm not sure what difference it makes whether the meat is the same or different, but apparently it does in their eyes. That meal came with two sides so I order a salad with no croutons and a macaroni and cheese. I was told they ran out of macaroni and cheese but would have more in ten minutes so I figured I'd get it anyway since by the time my food came out it would be just about ready. I'm not sure how you run out of macaroni and cheese at lunchtime to begin with. I also ordered a side of the Fried Buffalo Cauliflower, as well. Another younger girl delivered our food. She had a ton of makeup on too and was really unfriendly. Both the 1/2 chicken and the pulled chicken were dry and overly sweet. The side salad had crouton remnants in it even though we asked for none. The Fried Buffalo Cauliflower were about the only good food we tried at this establishment. We ate most of our food when a young man came over and told us that they were still waiting on the macaroni and cheese. He said it would be 10 minutes. When I told him I was told the same thing over 10 minutes prior, he apologized and offered another side, so we took fries to go. Aside from those things, we noticed thick layers of dust throughout the restaurant, tables being wiped down with white towels that were almost black. The door was wide open with a screen on it, but if you look closely at the screen, you'll notice the screen material has deteriorated leaving about 1/4" x 1/4" squares for various bugs to creep into. And to top it off, what looked like a manager or owner was sitting at the table next to us, writing a schedule up and taking a table away from a patron. I'm not sure what I'm missing, but this is definitely not a 4-1/2 star restaurant, but maybe I caught this business on an off day. read more

I don't know what happened (change in ownership?) but after our experience 2 nights ago, I would not go back. After waiting in line to place my to-go order with a cashier who could not have cared less for 20 minutes, I was pressed by a cheer-leading asian lady to order a drink, even though I told her I didn't want a drink as she that it would be ready in 5 minutes. 30 minutes later I had my order and was not pleased when I opened it back at my hotel. NO BBQ sauce on the side as requested or anywhere else for that matter, dry brisket, cold limp sweet potato fries and fatty pulled pork that took my overwhelmed body 2 days to process. And, oh yes, several of the items I ordered were "not available" - no chicken? How the hell do you have a BBQ joint and run out of chicken strips? Never again. read more

This really is a phenomenal BBQ eatery. I'm from the south, our BBQ tastes are VERY picky. The food here passed with flying colors. The mac and cheese was creamy and perfectly cooked, by far my favorite side. There are complaints about the portion size of the mac n' cheese for the price, but I think it serves to be fair to this restaurant that because this side is made from scratch, literally, homemade from the bottom up; Its going to be pricey because of the price of high quality ingredients and prep time. The taste of this dish, to me, more than makes up for being a little pricier. If you want out-of-the-box priced mac n' cheese, than that's what you're going to get, be fair. I had the ribs. They literally melt in your mouth and the sauce is rich and full of flavor, an absolutely delectable treat. I balance the price of the food with the factor of how soon you become full. The food is rich and it fills your stomach fast, you really don't need to eat a lot to satisfy the ol' rumbly in the tumbly. So with those two factors, I'd say this place has very reasonably priced food. They cook everything on site and nothing is frozen and reheated, which is true and honest BBQ. The wait time is based precisely on this factor. It takes a lot of time to BBQ meat right; the BBQ of the gods lol. I see poor reviews based on wait time. If you know your BBQ, then you know the prep time and the cooking times are a lot longer, especially when the staff is not large. Better to wait longer and have it done right then rushed and have a poor meal. -Staff was awesome and friendly -The owners are very cool, and down home and, from what I've seen, been very attentive to customers. -The decor is casual, eclectic and fun to look at, so if you have to wait, its not like you'll be bored. -DEFINITELY my favorite BBQ joint, and I've been to many; I will be returning. read more

They had outdoor seating only and staff wore masks. The menu was hard to understand since we were visiting for the first time. My husband thought he order a pulled pork sandwich but got pulled pork and French fries with coleslaw. He enjoyed the pork though. Lots of smoke flavor. I had the mac and cheese and it was good. The ribs were tender, just not very flavorful- just salty. The pastrami sandwich was *not* good at all! Unless you like sweet pastrami and sweet pickles- then I guess it would be right up your alley.
