My stylist was very nice, but I don't plan to go back and don't recommend this salon. One stylist working when I was there was a man who was speaking with his client about how he wouldn't have been disappointed if Trumps assassination attempts were successful. It was uncomfortable to have to sit in such a negative environment, but my foils had already begun so I couldn't leave. I observed the other more experienced stylist put color on clients and either leave them for an extended period or take other clients in between. The client who sat when I was processing booked with one stylist and was sat with another. Super unprofessional and weird to not notify the client of that change. My stylist at the recommendation of the more experienced male stylist toned my very light hair with an ash toner which I told my stylist not to use in my formula. This left me with an overall darker tone probably three levels too dark. I'm unhappy and know I can't go get the toner stripped for another week. My hair is much weaker because I was over processed and I'm very disappointed overall. read more

I went in today for a cut and color. The over all experience was pretty good and my color turned out great and the over all cut was good. My bangs however turned out AWFUL. choppy and uneven. I thought it may have been the way she styled it so I came home and washed and dried it and it was worse. I am embarrassed to even go out. Never again! And for $210 after tip! I always love the haircuts I get at Red 115, and especially appreciate all they are doing during COVID-19. I appreciate how Red 115 is doing everything it can to ensure the safety of their staff and clients. The salon has strict protocols in place, like mandatory face masks, one client at a time, disinfecting each station after use, and even asking clients not to set their belongings on anything. The salon is always so clean, and the employees are warm and welcoming, which is especially appreciated during the strange times. Shannon cut my hair today, and am SO in love with the outcome. It's definitely one of the best haircuts I've EVER had. She is so fun, kind, and knowledgeable, it was a delightful experience to be with her today. My hair is glowing, and she took it's needs as well as my preferences to heart. I look forward to future haircuts with Shannon, and highly recommend her as a hairdresser! read more

I had my hair cut by a middle aged gentleman (maybe mid 50's) mid August. I don't recall his name but he had a young female student with him and told me he had moved from Phoenix where he had his own salon to Flagstaff. When I sat down he instantly started talking about putting various layers in my hair. This was my first time getting a haircut in over a year because of COVID and prior to that I had had a not so good haircut so I told him all I wanted was a trim-straight across because I was growing my hair out. The initial results seemed good and I was pleased overall. I treated myself to a Brazilian blowout yesterday. During the treatment the stylist pointed out how uneven my hair was. She took a picture of it, as below. She was able to fix the back, but not the sides. I can't believe I've been walking around with such a bad haircut! I'm just glad I spoke up and told him I didn't want any interesting layers!! I wish I could remember his name but I 100% would not recommend him; the photo below speaks for itself. read more

I wanted to treat myself to an early birthday present, and decided to get a spa pedicure. I wanted a nice, relaxing experience, so I knew I didn't want to go to one of the nail places in the mall. I called Red 115 and was able to make an appointment for the next day. I went in this morning and they immediately offered me their specialty tea or a water, I chose the tea and it was delicious. I got in right on time to my appointment without waiting. They had a large but not too overwhelming selection of gel polish to select from. The chair for the pedicure wasn't a "massager" chair but that doesn't bother me, I never use them anyway. The nail tech was extremely friendly and took her time. I love the smell of Aveda products, so it was nice to have them used on my feet. The tech used a stress relief lotion/exfoliating paste for my legs and feet, and also gave me a good ten minute foot massage that was so relaxing. I appreciated the care she took- the pedicure was an hour and a half long! Not a complaint! I loved relaxing, drinking tea and absorbing the good smells knowing that my feet and nails were being well taken care of. The total came out to $50 for a gel Spa pedicure, which isn't too much more than the blow-and-go places where I've had poor results and a rushed/chaotic atmosphere. I had the worst haircut here. I asked for a pixie cut and the girl destroyed my hair. She didn't follow my instructions and I walked out looking like a young boy hairdo. It was awful! She didn't apologize but kept cutting when I told her to leave the top of my hair alone. The sides were uneven. I still had hair on my neck. My part in the middle was off. I had to do what I could to fix it at home. I was going to go to a barber to fix the sides but decided not to. She didn't use hair clippers but a mini clipper for my sideburns only. She cut my sides with a small pair of scissors. That's why it was so uneven. I shouldn't have tipped her but I did. Ugh! read more

I was hesitant about going to this salon because it had so many bad reviews but decided to make an appointment anyways because I desperately needed a haircut. I have never in my life been disappointed by a haircut before but I cried after this one. I do not know how someone who does hair professionally can mess up so badly. I ended up buying a pair of shears from target and tried to fix it myself (which actually made it better) but now I'm waiting until I have enough money to get it fixed professionally. I wish I could give 10 stars to this salon and stylist Shannon who spent 40 minutes consulting with my 16 year old daughter before her first ever professional hair color appointment. Then she spent three hours turning her brassy yellow head of hair into the most gorgeous, nuanced, subtle, natural combination of high and low lights and beautiful tones. She stated that first timers tend to have high expectations, hence the careful consultation before they got started, and boy did she ever blow us away. My daughter is thrilled and I think she looks stunning. All COVID precautions by the salon were appreciated. And the touching base and request for photos ahead of time insured perfect scheduling. I love the owner, Janesa and the front desk gal KaLyn is amazing. However, I was really annoyed today going for a pedicure. I had my mask on when I entered even though the salon did NOT say I needed a mask. Sitting in the back I had no interaction with other customers or staff, except for Natalie who was providing the service and she never said a word about the mask. However, I was asked to put one on. I felt terrible for KaLyn who asked me to do this since a stylist demanded I put one on. What I had hoped to be a relaxing morning left me angry! If this was a requirement for the shop great but this stylist who was working on her mask-less customer put KaLynn and myself in an uncomfortable situation! read more

I've been an Aveda girl for, well.....a lot of years. Red is a very good salon. My stylist/colorist Erin B. is just great! Perfect cuts and great color, she always gets it just right. They offer hand messages while waiting for the color to process, tea or flavored water when you walk in, and the staff is knowledgeable of the services and products. I love the product selection. Aveda products are some of the best in my opinion and the company philosophy caring for the world we live in is exemplified wonderfully in this salon. read more

This was my first time here and unfortunately I won't be back due to the price and the quality of work. I don't mind paying for professional hair coloring but the quality of work should match. I honestly could have gone and bought box dye and done 100% better and saved 115$ for root touch up. I went at the end of December and left with hair dye all over my forehead, my ears and the back of my neck - that stayed on my skin for a week. I had a huge line across my forehead about 1/4 down that was just pure black dye on my skin. When I left I still felt like I had dye in my hair around my ears and lower skull area. I would have said something to the stylist but they rushed me out and walked away immediately. The stylist did ask if I liked it and I mentioned I have way too much dye on my skin and that it looked rushed and they ignored me. When I went home I immediately took a shower and the water was black from the dye. During the time in the salon the stylist seemed preoccupied and rushed putting the dye on my skull and I had patches that were deep black (I have medium brown hair) and some grays still showing. It seemed rushed and like I was at a beauty school. I wanted to just drop the experience due to everyone being short staffed and having trouble with COVID, but now my grays are 100% showing. I legit had them covered 2 weeks ago, that should not be happening. All in all, this place is highly overpriced for the quality of work. If I was at a beauty school I would be more understanding of the mistakes that were made. read more

I was a bit nervous to try a new nail salon because the one I tried to go to 2 years ago here in Flagstaff was really bad and left me with a horrible manicure. I was definitely proved wrong with Red 115, with the tech, Natalie, taking her time and really focusing on my nails. It's apparently the nicest salon in Flagstaff, according to the Daily Sun newspaper and Grand Canyon tourist guide (that's how I found the Red 115 in the first place). Got a goodie bag of samples tailored to my hair needs. My hair dresser was a complete doll! She gave me a massage and they served me orange juice. And the manager of the salon is a retired clothing designer from San Francisco. LOVED IT. One issue -- the location. It's very hard to find. if you find yourself lost, just give the salon a call and tell them the closest intersection. They will stay on the phone with you and give you detailed instructions on how to get to them. read more

I'm really surprised as well by the negative reviews for the Red 115 salon. This is the only place I trust with my hair and my skin - even now that I live in the Phoenix area, I make sure to book my services with Tessa (for cut and color) and Paloma (for my skin and waxing) whenever I make a trip up to Flagstaff. I usually tell Tessa (or whichever stylist I get - never had a bad one!) to do whatever they feel best and I've never left with a bad cut or color. I'm super excited about the blondes they carry now, although Aveda reds don't do well in my hair - I understand they're difficult to make stick. I love the service here and Bill, the manager, always accommodates me since I'm an out of town customer. They still remember me after the time I spend away and know what I like, what I prefer, and what not to do for me. My experience here has been hit or miss. I have gotten fantastic haircuts most of the time. However, there is always that odd instance when I leave looking just plain bizarre. One time my hair was uneven and another time my bangs were way too short. Most of the time the haircuts have been good, but when they didn't go right they were just plain awful. As for other spa services, their facials are divine. It is a blissful experience, and, if you are willing to take their advice, a great lesson on health and skincare. The massage I had was iffy. I went in for a 90-minute hot rock massage. However, the stones were not used to massage me. They simply sat on my body as she massaged my back and legs through the blanket. Massages through blankets are not the same as quality, full massages. Also, hot stone massages only feel good when the stones are used as a tool not a makeshift heating pad. The other two services I received at this salon were eyelash and eyebrow tinting. I was very pleased with the outcome of the eyelash tinting, but the eyebrow tinting was the worst experience I have ever had with a salon service. I stressed that I wanted very light brown, but ended up with a dark brown (almost black) that looked absolutely garish by comparison to my my pale skin and naturally blonde hair. As an added negative, the dark, dark, DARK color of my eyebrows did not fade for a month and a half causing me to look downright terrible during many important events in my life. read more

I live in the wilds, and sometimes go a bit long with out a cut or color, and yet, Bill is always there for me! We have such a lovely low maintenance relationship. I come in with a new idea or shade of Manic Panic, and he hooks me up with the perfect stylist. (If you are a punker, make sure you ask for someone with experience with funky colors.) While I love the reds coppers and purples Aveda provides, thank goodness, they let me bring in some Ultra Violet and Atomic Turquoise, or purple and pink colors from a slightly less "organic" source to be applied to my noggin. I love their lip saver, skin care products and kitsch. Also, the masseuse, Jenny, is AH-MAZING! The only reason no 5 stars: the organic waxing product does not actually do its job, and sticks to my skin, so I suggest going elsewhere. After having a less than ideal experience at another salon earlier this year, I was still on the hunt for a good color. I had been to Red 115 a few years ago and absolutely loved the results of my hair (ombré) but wasn't particularly wowed with the experience. However, knowing that I was pleased with my hair the first time, I came back to Red 115. I met with Denise yesterday (5/8) for a hair consult and to go over what I wanted done. She told me that it might take a couple of sessions to reach exactly what I wanted, but I was anticipating that. After going over these details, she was able to get me in today (5/9) for what would be the first session. Let me tell you. Wow. From the moment I walked in to the moment I left, I'm so happy. Denise is truly a gem. She's sweet but very professional and most importantly, she knows what she's doing! She lightened my hair first before toning then cutting and holy crap. I've never been this in love with my hair. She did such a great job, I don't think I want to go any lighter! Denise was able to achieve the effect I was looking for in one session and truly made me fall in love with my hair. I so badly wish I had come to Denise sooner so she could be my go-to in Flagstaff, since I am relocating to Phoenix. Since I've moved to Flagstaff I have a hard time finding a place to get my hair done because I have such a great place back home. I hadn't gotten a haircut in over a year so it was in need of one. After hearing recommendations from a couple of friends I decided to give it a go and I was pretty happy with how it turned out. My stylist was friendly and we were able to keep a pleasant and steady conversation. The only complaint I have is that they really push the product on you. If I was rating just my stylist, hands down a 5. My missing star is for the girl who I booked my appointment with over the phone. I live in Phoenix and had engagement pictures scheduled in Flagstaff. My fiance and his family live in Flagstaff, so I was referred to Red 115 for makeup. When I called to make an appointment, I asked how long to expect it to take and she told me about 20 mins. I thought that was pretty quick, so I planned my schedule around 40 mins just to be safe. My stylist, April, was AMAZING. She was so sweet-- I literally felt like I was hanging out with a bestie. She did such a great job of making it dramatic but natural enough. Played with colors I definitely wouldn't have done on my own and covered some serious blemishes. It took 75 mins though. I wish they would have quoted me a better time frame because it put a seriously cramp in my timing and I ended up having to be a little late to our session. Also, the quote on the phone was much lower than reality. ($25 vs $40 in real life) Was pleased with the option of paying spending $50 on product and being waived the make up fee. Thought that would have been helpful upfront as well. Overall, highly recommend April. She was AMAZING! read more

I really enjoy going to Aveda for hair cuts and brow waxing. Paloma is wonderful at waxing brows and is always fun to talk to. I've had my hair cut four or five times and have had great experiences every time. The scalp massage, shampoo, cut and style are definitely better than anywhere else in town and are worth the price, which I think is really reasonable. The staff are really knowledgeable about the products and they always have the new OPI collections. I went in today with a somewhat vague description of what I wanted (I'm not very good as describing hair) but my stylist gave me EXACTLY what I wanted. If I wasn't moving, I would continue to be a regular customer. read more

Although salons aren't essential businesses, I felt completely safe from the moment I walked in. Client numbers are limited, everyone properly wearing masks, even separate sanitized pens for use in signing a health disclosure form (and my receipt). Unfortunately I really wish I loved the salon as I love Aveda products and haircolor. I saw a Rhonda for a root touch up and cut. I specifically brought a picture to guide my haircut which looks nothing like what was requested. If she was not able to do that I wish she would've been honest upfront as I would have never proceeded with the haircut. She left dye all over my forehead while tending to another client which of course stained for the rest of the day. She then charged me for a full color even though it was just a root touch up. I wish there was a good stylist there but they seem to change so frequently and every time I get a recommendation from somebody that stylist has already left for a different salon. read more
