Amber RUINED my hair. These photos are from the haircut she gave me a week ago. My previous stylist knew how to create well blended layers, but sadly she moved out of state. In one sitting, Amber destroyed more than a year's worth of perfect haircuts. I have texted her about this (see photo) and her response was "unfortunately there are not many people who can have a cut that is layered, thick and course, well-blended, air-dried, kinked from a ponytail and not freshly brushed and still look great." (My hair had been brushed before I took the photos and had not been in a pony tail, not to mention the fact that previous stylists have been able to make my hair look great.) I asked for a refund. She refused saying I had to give her a chance to "stand by her work" and let her try to fix this. I refused - for obvious reasons. I also discovered that she charged me for my generous (and much regretted) 30% tip based on the cut PLUS merchandise (see photo). When I brought this to her attention she said that's the way SQUARE calculates tips, and if I'd wanted to know how the calculation was being performed I should have asked! I asked her to refund at least the tip since I am clearly not happy. She also refused. So much for standing by your work. Finally after several exchanges she decided to refund only the portion of the tip calculated on the cost of merchandise since there was "some confusion." Luckily I was able to have most of the damage repaired by a competent stylist, though it will take some time for the damage to completely grow out. The stylist who fixed my hair said the cut Amber gave me was "objectively bad," and it looked like she either didn't know what she was doing or didn't care. Either way, buyer beware. read more

At the last place I went to I was set on getting a pixie cut and my stylist voiced that she didn't think I would look good in one so I ended up just getting my hair cut to chin length. Unique Salon is a true gem. It's super clean, chic, uses the highest quality products for hair services, and has been diligent and convenient with their excellent covid practices. Cesi does a gorgeous job on my hair, even when I've done damage to it in between styles. In the past I have been there for manicures and was similarly really happy. The location is convenient. She didn't hear the word 'wedding' and try to overcharge like many other surrounding salons, rather she accommodated for my last minute requests and listened to my needs for my big day. We did a trial run and that hair did not work out. I told her what I wanted for the actual day and she was able to change it and it was phenomenal. My fee started at $130 Then went from $120 to $190. I was never told I would be charged an extra $70 for extra bleach when highlighting my hair. Would have been nice to be told in advance. My shoulder length hair took 5 1/2 hours to highlight and cut an inch off the bottom. I have had my hair highlighted my entire life and have never sat in a chair that long. My friends with longer hair take half that. The highlights came out very good and the cut was simple but she was unprofessional and very rough on the scalp. She blew her other client off for almost an hour and said it was their fault for texting her late at night. The establishment is gorgeous though and most of the staff are very professional. They took extra caution with wiping things down during COVID. read more

I made a pedi appt. with Tameka (kind of last minute for the next morning) and she was very accommodating. When I arrived 15 min early, she was already there and had the pedi spa ready for me. I am a full-time RVer, so finding a good stylist can be a daunting task. I have short hair, and I rarely find salons that have pictures on their websites/FB/Instagram of short hair. After doing some research on salons in the Flagstaff area, I found Ceci Findley of Cessified, one of the stylists at Unique Salon. I really liked her bio and Instagram so I set up an appointment online. Within a few minutes, I had a confirmation and instructions about their Covid-19 protocol. When I arrived, I texted Ceci to let her know I was there. When I came into the building, my temperature was taken and I was instructed to wash my hands (masks are required). I then sat down with Ceci to talk about my quarantine hair and what I was looking for. I had my obligatory Pinterest photos, along with pics from my last cut. She asked what I liked/disliked about that cut, how long I spend on my hair, whether I like a sleeker or messy look, and my overall day-to-day life and how the cut fits into that. She did such a thorough job of discussing what I wanted. We decided on a plan and off to the shampoo we went. The talk was easy with her and I thoroughly enjoyed learning about her, her family, and her business. She quickly and efficiently cut my hair. When she was done, she asked what I thought. I loved it already, but I asked her to texturize the top of the crown a bit more, and to take out some more of my very thick hair. She happily did that with no complaint. I asked her to take some pictures so I could show other stylists in the future. She seemed so excited that I would ask and we went over into a side area and she took three pictures and texted them to me. I really love my cut. It is so easy to style and hardly needs any product, which I love. I would highly recommend Ceci for anyone looking for a great cut and excellent service. We will be traveling through Flagstaff again in October and I will certainly be setting up an appointment for another great style. read more

I've never had to wait past the time that my appointment was booked for. That atmosphere is great with friendly faces .
