I'm really low maintenance with my hair so I usually just brush it and go. I feel like with this cut I can style it however I want and it'll look great! I chose this salon because it had the best reviews. I called to see if I could get a consultation and was able to come in that day. I explained everything I wanted and showed pictures of what I had in mind. I was able to schedule an appointment for two weeks out and was looking forward to it. I went in to get a balayage and my stylist was very pleasant. I explained to her when I had it done before, it took 5-6 hours. She was finished in less than 4. I never did get a chance to look at the back of the hair in the mirror or different lighting. She had me stand against a wall and took a picture with a professional photography light. She showed me the picture and it looked nice. I paid $230, plus tip and bought product for $50. I went home and when I was looking at my hair in different lighting I noticed it really did not look like a balayage. The next day waking up, I just really felt like it wasn't what i was requesting and reached out to the stylist. She told me to curl my hair. I was told there is a big difference and, she's sorry I feel the way I do, but I need to pay if I want anything else done. She also said I would have paid way more at another salon because I have thick hair.I wasn't offered to come in so she could take a look at it or any option at all. Everyone close to me was in shock of how much I had paid and the result. I decided to return my products because I felt I didn't want to spend the money at a Salon that I wasnt satisfied with. When i went in the owner wasnt there. I decided to give it through the weekend to reach out to her. I called and she wasn't available. So I wrote an email and four days later, still haven't received a response. My hair does not look horrible, but its not what I wanted nor what we discussed or what she said she could do. I have been going to Salon Bloom for just over a year and I gotta say I'm obsessed. It's sometimes hard to find a stylist that will not only listen to what you want, but execute it. I also love that Barbie will sit and talk to with me before she even starts so that we are on the same page. She isn't going to do something that isn't going to work for you. So many stylist will just do it wether they think it will look good or not. When you're going for a vibrant color you really want your stylist to know what they are doing or you could end up looking like a clown and unless that's what you're going for it's not good. Haha! Barbie and her team are FANTASTIC! I wish I lived in Flagstaff so that I could always have my hair done at Salon Bloom! I discovered Salon Bloom on Yelp when looking for someone to do my hair for my wedding (which was at the Grand Canyon). When I called to ask Barbie about an appointment, she was incredibly friendly and professional. I set up a trial hair and makeup session with Barbie. She did a phenomenal job of listening to the look I was going for--she asked for photos of my dress and questions about the vibe of the wedding itself. She did a FANTASTIC job with my hair, both at the trial and on my wedding day, but what really blew me away was the airbrush makeup. I'm not a big makeup wearer, but both times that she did my makeup I was astonished by how flawless and glowing my skin looked. Barbie is truly an artist--she mixed different colors together to truly create a masterpiece on my face. Not only is Barbie fantastic at hair and makeup, she's super fun (and funny!) to be around! She lights up the salon with her jokes and her bubbly personality. I had a ton of fun during both appointments. I can't forget to mention Ashley, who did my mom and sister's hair for the wedding. Ashley was extremely sweet and did an excellent job with my mom's hair (she got hers blow dried and styled) and my sister's hair, who had a low updo. She was great to work with and I highly recommend Ashley. Overall, I'm jealous of Flagstaff residents that you all have such an amazing salon. She called ahead to request a stylist that could help her come up with a style/look that would look vest for her. Well this stylist started going ON AND ON about how she just couldn't believe it was thinning so much (she's not balding, only thinning at this point). A direct quote of one thing she said was, "My God, I know you said you were thinning, but Gawd, I didn't imagine it'd be THIS MUCH!" which she said so loud, others started looking! What else would these stylist make fun of, people that are obese, have mental or physical handicaps?!!! My fiancee was more upset than I've ever seen her before my entire time together. Disappointed. After weeks of going back and forth with going lighter with my hair, I decided to go for it as a birthday gift to myself. I did a bit of searching to find reviews of salons in Flagstaff and stumbled across Salon Bloom. It sounded promising, with great stylists/colorists and a fun staff, so I decided to give this salon a shot. After calling the salon and explaining what I wanted done, I stopped into the salon for further details. The woman that helped me was wonderful. Super nice and honest about lightening my hair and she sent me home with some clarifying shampoo to prep my hair for a strand test, scheduled for today. Great, awesome. I arrived at the salon about five minutes early and was told that my stylist stepped out for a few, that she'll be back soon, and that I could have a seat. After half an hour of waiting, I finally just left. I don't have time to sit around after my scheduled time. I can understand running behind if a client is still in the chair, but as far as I know, the stylist wasn't even in the building. The excitement I had for getting my hair done at Salon Bloom is still there but after today, I think I just might have to go somewhere else. read more

I was stopping through Flagstaff and wanted to do something drastic with my hair, so I looked around and found Shear Irony through the Brazilian Blowout website, and couldn't be happier my results! I'm a half and half woman with very curly, textured hair, and Barbie was nothing short of excited to see how the product would work. She said it would change my life, and I think it has! Wish I could post before and afters! When I called to make the appointment, Barbie said she could even squeeze me in last minute, and she stayed overtime ( I've got a LOT of hair) to finish her work. My appt was made during business hours with a live person with appt book in hand; so I dont know what happened. If I needed to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances then it would have been nice to get a call. Ball dropped. I hired Amy at Salon Bloom to do wedding hair and makeup for my bridal party and I. Amy was absolutely awesome from start to finish, and was always easy to reach out to for any questions I had. At my trial, Amy tried all of my hair suggestions until we found something I completely loved, and I left my hair/makeup trial feeling extra excited about the wedding. On the wedding day she and Faith joined us on site and tag-teamed with hair and makeup. Amy did my hair and makeup perfectly - I have naturally fine, blonde hair and have had difficulties with other stylists in the past that have made it look wet from the products they use. BUT, Amy did my hair so that it held up all night long and kept its natural light blonde color, so extra kudos to her! I also asked for a more natural look for my makeup and she was spot on with it.
