Laid off workers during "remodeling" but did not call back my relative even though they promised they would after reopening. Allowed workers to function under terrible work circumstances and did not do anything until recently. Majority of workers are lazy and rude, giving my older relative the majority of work at the time. Issues with materials coming up short likely due to theft. Daniel is a terrible manager and person. He employed his daughter to a managerial position due to his sway of power. Relative would constantly complain about workers being lazy and rude to them and customers, but did absolutely nothing. Needs to be shut down and potentially sued for negligence and discrimination. Do NOT give this barley legitimate farce of a recycling center any of your business. read more

This is a nice little recycling center, where the instructions are easy on how to accommodate cans and plastics in each bin. -1 star because it is very filthy around this lot and inside their office. No maintenance what so ever And another -1 because I came with around 10 big bags with plastics and cans, but got roughly $30 back. AVOID this place! There is little to no leadership or organization at this place and because of that you will waste a LOT of your day waiting in line. The place is a dump and the people working there are rude and not motivated to process your orders in a timely fashion. There is lot of confusion as to when they come back from break - their signs are of no help as they don't follow them and are not updated. This weekend's experience was a trial of patience. I've been there in the past, but this was the last staw - I will not return and I would advise anyone else to take their recycling elsewhere for faster, more friendly service. read more

So I see people here complaining about how dirty this place is. It's not a hospital, it's a recycling place. People are turning in dirty cans and bottles and metal. What do these people expect? And yeah, it is dirty. The ground is covered in goo and crap from whatever has fallen off the millions of bottles and cans that have passed through. There are so many different types of bugs walking around on the ground that you'll find yourself counting how many different ones there are. And you'll have plenty of time to do this because you'll be in line for a long, long time. I usually get here about a half hour before they open and there will still be 3-4 people ahead of me with hundreds of cans and bottles. I'll be there for around an hour and 15 - so I imagine coming later you're going to be there much longer. One time I was here and the guy doing my cans starts pulling out cans and tossing them away. I'm yelling at him "what the hell are you doing? I paid the crv fee for all of those." He did not answer. I think it was IPA cans that had paper on them but I don't care, it says I can return those for recycling, this guy has no right to pull those out. I see people complaining about the prices here but I think they're okay. I always get about what I expect or a little more. The main problem here is the clientele. Now most of these folks are very nice people. But you have the usual Pittsburg/Antioch dreck too. The other day I was here and waiting and some idiot decides to pull in and park his truck right in the middle of thoroughfare, so he's blocking me and other people parked in the parking spots from getting out, he's blocking other people from getting in and out of the actual property. He and his wife walk over and wait for some cans to put his recycling in. It's baffling how selfish morons like this idiot are. Just screw everyone else, I'm going to park my truck in the middle of the road and literally block everyone. Then I watch this idiot as he declares himself the "Recycling Police" start yelling at some guy "hey, he was waiting for that can before you, give it back to him." What does he care who gets what can? This is the perfect kind of jerk you see at places like this. Just looking to fight someone. Finally, the young lady who gives out the money in the office at the end comes out and tell this idiot to move his truck and a couple of the other buffoons who were parking in places that are not parking spaces and blocking people. But you have to remember, it's Pittsburg, no one in Pittsburg understand manners or courtesy. That young lady was hero in my book. One moron drives onto the property in a big, raggedy camper painted black with a hand written sign on the window the reads "go the f away" (grammar is also not something a lot of these folks understand) and he's blasting rap music so loud, they can hear it in Martinez. He drives down the entrance a ways down the road and parks, still blasting music. Then he walks up and goes over to another guy parked over the by the bushes (he was another one of the guys the young lady told to move his car) and these two just sit in the car hanging out. So I guess people go hang out at the recycling place in Pittsburg, if you can believe that. "Hey, what do you want to do today?" "I don't know, hang out at the recycling place?" "Let me get my camper..." The worst thing about this place now, is the two guys driving fork lifts around with bins getting large quantities of bottles out of line. I watched these two guys drive around without a single thought of safety. The one guy almost ran me over, I jumped out of the way and I still don't think he even knew I was there. I watched these guys back without looking behind them, assuming no one was behind them or any cars. There are no mirrors on the lifts, they're just backing up without a thought of safety. Someone IS going to get injured or killed by these idiots - it's just a matter of time. You heard it here first. I just wonder if OSHA can get involved or some agency because these two guys are dangerous. I've been to this place for the last time. I'm tired of dealing with the idiots around the area and you take your life in your own hands with the fork lift drivers, it's not safe and I at least hope no one brings their kids here, there is a disaster waiting to happen. If you like hanging out in line for 2 hours and dodging fork lifts, then this is the place for you. read more

We had scrap metal we needed to get rid of. Not much, small trailer full. Recycling Zone was a great choice. This was our first trip here. We pull in and ask one of their friendly employees where we go. He tells us to drive around the building we will see where we can leave the scrap. There are several other business located in the complex. For us, easy in easy out. They don't pay for the scrap metal, not sure of anyplace that pays here in the east bay. There is a place in Stockton. Recycling Zone is conveniently located right off of highway 4, across from Wal-Mart. Parking is limited and it gets busy. I reported these crooks and fraudsters to the State of California for their illegal conduct. I'm also going to report them to the BBB (Better Business Bureau). That's how fed up I am with them! This afternoon I visited the Recycling Zone located at 181 Clark Avenue in Pittsburg, CA.  I've been to this location many times in the past. Today I brought with me to he recycled both aluminum cans (29.5 gross/10.5 net tare wt)  and empty containers of cat food (steel, 40.5 gross/19.5 net wt).  I've attached the receipt for this transaction for your reference. Each time in the past this center accepted and paid me for the steel cat food cans.  As you can see from the attached, this time I was only given 2 cents (2 CENTS) for 19.5 net tare wt. of steel. When I realized the inconsistency,  I immediately confronted the manager about this error.  His reply was that they don't take steel (even though the rates for steel are CLEARLY posted on the signage at the entrance to the building.  Also, as I mentioned, they've ALWAYS accepted these steel cans from me previously. I would like this recycling center investigated for fraudulent activity.  It would be much appreciated if you could get back to me with an update on this situation. Also, please note that NOTHING was said to me about their inability to process my request for the empty steel cans when I presented them on arrival at their facility. Rude employees! Very unprofessional. Yesterday my husband and I went to this place. We unloaded out sorted our recyclables. My husband gathers our plastic bags (garbage) to throw away. My husband not reading a sign that says, no garbage asks an employee where to throw his garbage away and the employee is RUDE body language and eye contact and the way he said , "you got to take it with you!" Very Rude!! My husband walks away and on accident my husband dropped 1 garbage bag ON ACCIDENT! Then the employee follows my husband yelling at him harrasing him about the garbage bag he didn't know he dropped!!! At this time my husband is upset and I'm getting offended by the UNPROFESSIONAL RUDE EMPLOYEE BRANDON! This guy thinks he owns the place!! Brandon then tells us he's not taking our recyclables! So we basically got kicked out!!! They treated us like we were wrong little did they know BRANDON IS THE BAD GUY!! It's ok WE WILL NEVER go back! Rude employees. Manager is a joke! I would like to report that today, while waiting in line with MANY other people, the forklift driver almost ran me over. While coming through the line the first time, I carefully moved for him while he transported a large metal bin to a vehicle. However, when backing up, he did so at high speed, and without looking. I screamed at him, "HEY, HEY, HEY!" And jumped out of the way. I said, you almost hit me! He turned around and screamed at me, "THATS WHY THE LINE GOES THAT WAY!" It's very busy here today, I am standing in a long line with other people, and he knew where I was because he had just cut through the line to deliver the metal bin. I yelled at him that he was the forklift operator, and if he hits me, he is liable. He screamed back at me, saying NO IM NOT!! Had I not jumped out of the way, this employee would have hit me at high speed. He was rude, and extremely reckless to go that fast in reverse on a busy day without looking. Had he hit me, recycle zone would have been fully liable for my injury. Yet he did not even apologize. His photo is below. After months of plastic bottles and cans accumulating on my patio; I decided it was time to do some recycling. I googled recycling centers and the closest one was Recycling Zone so I made my way there in the morning around 10:30. It was pretty packed when I arrived, but I managed to find a parking space. I then had to make a line to get the bins to place my cans and bottles in which took a little less than 10 minutes. My recycling was already organized so I placed them in the bins and made the line to recycle. The line wrapped around the building.. I honestly thought about leaving at some point, but I stayed.. I was genuinely curious as to how much my recycling was worth here.. I haven't recycled in a while, but when I did, it was at those small recycling centers that were next to your local supermarket ( Lucky's, Raley's- you get the picture). Well, when I recycled- it didn't take as long, was much cleaner, and I definitely got more for my goods. Back to Recycle Zone- There was no social distancing whatsoever, people were less than half a foot from me, some people weren't wearing masks - including the workers, who would pull their mask on and off. Most people that are recycling are really hauling in a lot. I mean some people had about 10+ bins. All in all, it took over an hour to recycle and I got a measly $10.20. This was for almost a year of recycling. I had a few garbage bags... There were atleast over 15+ packs of 24 water bottles there and a good amount of cans. I eye balled as I usually do and I guessed anywhere from $18-22.. I don't think they're being honest or something is up with their counter.. I won't be back.. It's really a shame, but it won't stop me from recycling.. I will continue to save my cans and bottles and put them out for those who collect recycling. read more

I went to this place on August 26 with 9 full bags of aluminum cans. They placed the cans in the large hopper then started them up the conveyor belt to the hopper. When half the cans had gone up they stopped the machine and declared the weight. When I asked about the cans in the machine they said that included those even though they weren't on the scale. Approximately 4 bags of cans remained. They wrote out my ticket, then I watched as they then turned the machine back on, weighed the remaining cans and wrote that number on a separate ticket, why I don't know. This place is a scam. It was good for a brief span after it was placed under new management but it is back to being the scam operation it was before. read more

The person I went and turned my scrap copper and a couple radiators was real nice but the only problem is the weight of all the copper I brought in just doesn't add up the said I only had a total of 23 pounds of copper altogether and I had 6 8 foot long pieces of copper flashing and those alone weighed fifteen pounds not to mention the almost a whole roll of 12 gauge stranded wire that I stripped and turned in plus a bunch of scrap romex wire I also had stripped and turned in all at the same time I feel like I got screwed somehow the weight of everything just doesn't add up plus at Antioch recycling center aluminum radiators u get .50 a pound for them these guys only paid ..27 cents a pound that's half price wtf that's a big difference but Antioch recycling center can't take scrap metal right now cuz a permit thing but u can bet I'm not going back to this place again I think I will stick with Antioch recycling center since Christensen on loveridge messed up and got caught taking stolen goods they were the best place to go til they got closed down they have the best prices for scrap metal easily twice what Pittsburg recycling center pays The guy that helped me was a nice guy but I don't think my total poundage in the end was right read more
