Chicken Bao
Darren G.

The service is really top notch, very friendly and patient, asked me after menu how I enjoyed the food and what I liked best. So sadly the steak was not ready so I went to choice two chicken for the bao buns and ramen. The buns were pillowy soft and held up well, the chicken filling was very seasoned and very generous in portion. The slaw was very good and normally I never eat slaw and they made so good I enjoyed. The ramen, chicken was amazing, I appreciate it was grilled and seasoned, over a pan fry, had alot more flavor that way. Eggs were runny and yummy. The noodles, were alright, not biggest fan of organic noodles. Broth was well seasoned and definitely the first place I seen seeds placed in to the broth, but a pleasant surprise, now the shiitake mushrooms were even better the chicken, seasoned and cooked like a piece of steak, wish I had more mushrooms, plus I found out they marinate the mushrooms before grilling them, definitely something that will be a new favorite. This place itself is small, but I can tell definitely pride themselves on quality.

Ramen and Bao

Great place for a quick, quality meal ! Tacos, Bao buns, salads, quesadillas, ramen and burritos are all good. They try to use seasonal, local ingredients too which is awesome

We had lunch here today, and it was fresh and delicious. The ramen was amazing. I had the pork belly with marrow broth and wow was it flavorful. With the cold weather approaching, grab yourself a bowl of comfort! Chef Cruz is a delight and genuinely wanted us to enjoy our lunch. He even gave us a "taste-test" dish of cilantro lime garlic rice to try out, which was really good too! My husband had the tacos which were equally as fresh and yummy. It is nice to support such an upbeat, friendly and positive establishment with such fresh and delicious food!

It's not a big place but comfortable. We had a new server, seems pleasant. She didn't rush me, as I take my time to decide what to order. I settled for the chicken soup and of course guacamole The soup is delicious. Pure chicken flavor. I also was given rice and typically J don't eat rice at restaurants. But the rice was good. I enjoyed it. everything was exceptional

I did come at an in-between time (around 3pm), so it's possible that this was a one-off, but it was so meh that I'm not sure I'll be back to give it another shot (if I do, I'll come right at lunch or dinner time). The good: the mole was fantastic! Even with a mediocre meal, this stood out as amazing. The portions were generous. I thought at one point the woman asked if I wanted chicken or beef enchiladas, and having never had beef enchiladas I said "beef please." It turns out, I received chicken enchiladas with a portion of skirt steak on top (see photo). Again, very generous. The decor was lively. The misses: The beans were quite bland, to the point where I was surprised...it's such a foundational element of Mexican cuisine, but they needed more spices / a touch more salt. Also, my wife ordered the veggie wrap and it was bland. It contained lots of different vegetables, but somehow they weren't seasoned. I know vegetarian burritos aren't all the craze, but when I took a bite of it, I agreed...it was just vegetables, no seasoning at all. Nice to have it on the menu for folks like my wife, but why not season them first? Maybe it was an oversight. The horchata was different from what I've had in the past...not bad, but not something I would recommend either. It was watery, lacked any cinnamon flavor, and had ground almond on top, which was interesting (maybe this is regional?). Without the dynamite mole and the generous portions, this would be a 2 star review, but I can't, in good conscience, give less than 3 stars with mole like that. But the beans...womp womp.

It's just hard to get a good photograph because the lighting is constantly changing. Ivan has been our server a few times already. Today was a rough afternoon for him. He was the only one on, and the way it looked. You would think there were no other restaurants in the area. It was busy! But, being the professional is; he handled it very well. The menu and photographs are on a tablet. Pick out what you like and it comes to the table, it will look exactly like it does in the photograph. The food is very well seasoned, it's not excessively piquant nor spicy. You can taste the main ingredients. Plating is done aesthetically. Portions are more than ample. The dinner plates are imported and made in Mexico. Nice touch. On several occasions, I've seen families there with three generations, enjoying their meal. It's family friendly. Fortaleza has an App and a customer loyalty program. There is a spacious private parking lot in front, and the parking is free.

I believe it's the owner who was serving at the time and even aside from my interaction, she was super kind and helpful to others. There's plenty of classics on the menu but there's also some more unique foods like Sopes or Tlayudas. I ordered the Tlayudas with chicken tinga and devoured it (apologies to anyone who saw me sloppily making my way through) Tlayudas reminds me of a giant tortilla chip with its toppings piled on top. Think lettuce, queso fresco, avocado and beans. A knife was provided but I found it easier to tear into the tortilla and eat with my hands. Paired with a Tamarind Jarritos and free chips and salsa, it was a satisfying meal after a long day of hunger. Overall, if you're in the area looking at the foliage, stop by El Azteca for some marvelously delicious Mexican food!

Having food allergies can sometimes be a bit review - disabling to be fair to the restaurant owner…read more My reviews are therefore based on the establishment's ability to accommodate food, allergies, service, selection and presentation, and the flavor. LOCATION: This is a pleasant restaurant in a high traffic area of a dying mall. You'll find it in what used to be T.J. Maxx, Plaza this is the same plaza. That house is Midas, and Millspaugh furniture. The restaurant is actually larger than it looks from the outside with a pleasant patio space that was well-kept. it's what you expect of a Mexican restaurant: the paint, palette, tile, flooring, and artwork or appropriate and pleasant. This is not a fancy place still bring the kids. Although I was not there to drink, it does seem like they have a pretty big variety of tequila so specialty cocktails should be no problem. THE MENU: as always, before taking a seat, I explained to the host that I have food allergies and asked if it could be accommodated. He said, of course, and I was seated at a very clean table. The selection is very straightforward with an added option of a three-course meal. $21 got me a small appetizer, small entrée, and a dessert. Perfect for a lunch, or someone who does not have an enormous appetite, as my case. They were able to accommodate my food allergy without serving me a salad. You may be laughing, but this is usually my option. I was grateful for the opportunity to have some Mexican food prepared at a nice little place.RECOMMENDED: FLAN. The flan was creamy and rich. Really delicious. Service was very nice although I don't know that he is Latino. He did speak Spanish and communicated with others in the restaurant.
