I have had the same guy on each occasion NOT help me. I don't know if he is the owner or an employee, but whatever he is, he obviously has absolutely zero interest in being helpful. I'm not sure that he knows the front from the back end of a bicycle. Perhaps he had just smoked way too much on each occasion I happened to stop by...bad luck for me. He looks like he's crawled out of a very small dark hole. Now I really do not care what somebody looks like, honestly, I don't, but if they're completely useless and have no ability or even a modicum of interest in why they are there or what are they are doing... well you may ask the same question as me. How did you get this job and how did you manage to keep this job? Leads me to think that perhaps he is the owner, otherwise I can't imagine why they haven't fired him yet.. The most recent occasion I was there I was having problems with my brakes going down a hill. it was concerning enough that I thought I better stop this ride and get this looked into ASAP. Cove bikes were not far away, so I thought they'll be able to sort this problem out. The guy spun the wheel a couple of times, squeezed the brake lever, and said "it feels fine to me, can't see what's wrong with it." Honestly, that's all he did. He didn't look at the brakes. He did nothing but spin the wheel and squeeze the brake lever, that's it! I know I just repeated myself, but I can't believe that's all he did. Anyways, I left the shop, and I carefully rode back into Vancouver and I went to BiCi on Adanac. The guy didn't spin the wheel, he didn't squeeze the lever, he went straight to the brakes and had a look. what a concept! Turns out I had worn my brake pads right down. There was nothing left, metal on metal. He diagnosed the problem in five seconds or less! Problem solved and fixed, NO more problem! I really wish I could say something positive about Cove bikes. They've been there for a long time, and I hate to say bad things. Usually, I can find something redeeming to add. I certainly won't be going back there ever again. I'll walk home if I have to first. Maybe selling bikes is what they can do, but obviously repairing bicycles is not on the menu.

North Shore Road Bike had a bike unboxed and built for a test ride after calling in the day before for me. They also took into account my wide foot size and tried several pairs of shoes (both road and mtb) to try to come up with a solution. They also took the time to explain the differences between the various Focus bikes. My friend also threw them a curve ball with his cleat/pedal install since he had a rounded allen bolt and questionable screw threads. In terms of selection, their variety of bikes, shoes and helmets blew Giant Vancouver away despite the store being smaller. As someone who's new to the sport, I couldn't think of a better resource at a great location on the North Shore.

After my initial failed attempts, Pat seated both my tubeless tires and inserted sealant. Helping one on the spot with free labour and kindness is not often found in busy bike shops. Walked my bike here (since the tire isn't working properly and rubbing against the Mount) at the end of the day to see if I can get it in. 'No sorry we don't have space.' 'And we don't take appointments' So no appointment. Well do you think you'll have any space later? Like can you give me a better time to come by since I can't make an appointment? When you might be less busy? 'Nope. Oh we can put air in your tires for you though' My tire that isn't working...yeah cool...uhm no thanks. 'You could try this other bike shop at this other address you'll have to walk to' I guess thanks for wasting my time. I'll just trudge back up the hill I guess.
