With midsummer sun and with the population of the West Coast out riding bikes, Steed Cycles is predictably busy. Nonetheless, the friendly and skillful staff invariably have time for quick fixes, advice and a chat. Today Pat saved me from deep red frustration. After my initial failed attempts, Pat seated both my tubeless tires and inserted sealant. Helping one on the spot with free labour and kindness is not often found in busy bike shops. Kudos to Pat and the great service team at Steed Cycles! read more

Ben Moore, Steed's service manager, has me locked in a customer. That man is so helpful, kind, and always feels like he's excited to get customers back on the road. I appreciate that he's a straight shooter and does his best to take ALL of my concerns into consideration. I've fretted over so many things that he simplified and helped me take care of at very reasonable prices and timelines. The web team is also great. I pester them a lot about inventory and they're lovely, quick, and communicative. read more

Knowledgeable, Personalized Advice, Great Inventory From my initial phone call to my visit to the store, I received excellent and knowledgeable service from multiple staff members. I purchased a bike, shoes, helmet, trainer, and kit for my adult son's first proper road bike. Pat, who took the lead during my visit, quickly grasped my priorities and built a respectful, friendly rapport with my son. With my own background of years spent as both a bike mechanic and in retail bike sales, I was able to recognize Pat's deep and broad expertise in all things cycling. They expertly set us up, including a bike fitting. I've used Steed before for my own gear and have always found their stock and shipping to be top-notch. Steed has definitely earned my trust. read more

This is the first biking store and my first time buying a bike but Unfortunately the service I got was unhelpful, disappointing and an awful experience. It didn't seem like they care or wanted to sell the bike to me. It might be that my bike is a cheap low class bike? Who knows ?! but what I got out of this experience was not a positive insight. The next day I came back to pick up my bike I got another sales rep. His name was Greg and he was a lot more friendlier and more supportive with answering my questions. If it wasn't for Greg... I wouldn't recommend coming back to this place!! read more

Great service from sales people to management. Clean open shop with parking in the rear, and lots of great lines. Thank you Steed Cycles!

I've been here a couple of times now. I didn't buy anything since they didn't have any bikes my size/color cuz of covid. Both times I came here the staff were very nice and friendly. I have also emailed them in the past and they are very professional and always return my emails unlike a lot of bike shops in these times. If I ever need any bike accessories or anything I'll be back..... read more

Solid 3.5 stars, you are definitely paying for service here. they're bike specialists but you can walk out here with a great bike for $500. Better quality than SportChek and Canadian Tire, with higher quality parts and lighter frame. Good size store with Oakley glasses, helmets and shoes too. Paul good service, worth coming back to. Like their unlimited service package in 1st year. Free parking. read more

While with coronavirus most bike shops had pretty bad service this guy's kept the good energy. They are friendly, not pushy with sales and very knowledgeable, their prices are also good even when you compare with online prices! read more

I really had a great experience at this bike shop, super clean and well managed. I ended up buying a new mountain bike of my dreams there and the service was excellent. Thanks guys I am a customer for life! read more

I get regular tune-ups at a shop in my neighborhood, but when summer hit and my regular spot was booked solid, I gave Steed a whirl. Now I'd be better off riding my neices Big Wheel to work for all the good they did. Don't. Just don't. read more

what a great place! I went in with a used bike I wanted to purchase and the owner let me take it to a bike place to gauge in what condition it was in; so, I went to Steed cycles that was close by and the mechanic took a look at my bike, offered great feedback, very honest opinions and lots of suggestions; he took the time to explain things to me and was very professional and kind! the selection of products there is also impressive and the service phenomenal; highly recommend this place! cheers read more

Steed Cycles is a North Shore institution. I've gone through no less than two dozen high end mountain bikes over the last decade. I've broken about every part there is to break on a bike, multiple times. And I've inevitably spent a lot of time in bike shops... In fact, I'm pretty sure I've bought something from every bike shop in North Van. The staff at Steed are consistently the most helpful, most knowledgeable, and just simply the friendliest guys out there. On many occasions they have bent over backwards to get me a part, or to squeeze in a repair. The advice on new bikes is always objective, and I've never felt pushed. The best mountain bike I've ever owned came from Steed, and my next bike will come from there too. These guys ride a lot, so they definitely appreciate the benefits in higher end bikes. If you're looking for a dirt cheap commuter bike, Steed is probably not your best bet. But if you take cycling seriously, or your looking to get started in the sport, then this is your spot. read more

Not happy. Paid for bushing replacement and they only did the top. Problem still exists and I am left running around trying to fix what I asked them to fix. I do not think I should have to do this much work to have a Santa Cruz bike fixed. Makes me question Santa Cruz and this shop. Look around. Plenty of bike shops. read more

They are very helpful and accommodating especially for drop ins They charged 20% less the same job on a different bike done by another bike store ! read more

Well staffed, and staff are helpful. I was looking for a commuter bike and Miriam helped me narrow it down to a Giant Escape. This included a couple test drives around the neighbourhood, pulling down bikes for me to look at, and testing the bikes and adjusting where necessary to make them road ready. They also sell a good selection of bike parts and have a shop in the back. read more

I bought an ebike from Steed Cycles one year ago and they have been amazing with support and service. Sam fixes everything on my bike when needed and taught me how to oil my bike chain, which I knew nothing about. I discovered Steed Cycles through a friend of a friend when I was looking for a new bike a few years back. Although I live in East Vancouver, I felt it was worth the drive to go back for all my cycling needs. The staff is friendly, super helpful and you can tell they love what they do. They have great deals for anyone on a budget and will take the time to help you walk out with the best bike for you. read more

Greetings to all, Just want to share my recent experience and thoughts. I always like to start with the positives... Steed Cycles was clean with good looking bikes and accessories. The negatives... I brought my bike in for minor service (I didn't have time to repair it myself). They simply did a visual inspection based on the age of the bike and made assumptions without any real investigation. My bike serves me well riding it hard at Whistler Bike Park and the technical north shore trails. I know my bike inside and out so I can tell when people suggest an "easy out" repair versus having to do their "homework". I read another review that Steed likes working on newer bikes only because it's less effort... hmmm perhaps true? Speaking of new bikes, my bud just spent $4K at Obsession Bikes, he unhappy with the sales service at Steed (he wanted me to add this). Let's turn the negatives :( to positives :) Happy Ridin' & Peace Out!!! read more

My new go-to bike shop. Over the span of a couple of weeks, I went into a number of North Shore bike shops trying to find a small 26" full suspension frameset for my wife. Most just brushed off the hassle and said they wouldn't know where to find one or to just try Pinkbike. Jason at Steed however took the time to find us a great deal on a warranty holdback frame from one of their suppliers. When we went in to pick up the bike, I also asked for his opinion on racks. Though they don't sell racks, Jason gave me a ton of helpful insight which proved to be invaluable to my buying decision. Always nice finding good, honest people that know what they're talking about and are willing to take the time to help. read more

Awesome, awesome bike shop. The guys are friendly, zero attitude and just love bikes. I knew what I wanted, they gave me a couple of options, let me know the difference and what I might want to try. They new what upcoming bikes would be available, considered my budget and let me take a couple for a rip. But the best thing was that when I made a decision and they didn't have the bike i wanted, they phoned around to other bike shops and found it for me. They lost the sale because it was "More important to get you on the right bike." People, that is awesome service, by people that genuinely love their job. Can't recommend this place enough. I didn't buy now, but when I get the wife a bike and/or the kid it will be from Sean and the boys at Steed. Great great bike shop. read more

I can't help but compare this shop to John Henry because they seem to both hire younger boys. But the difference is, the guys at John Henry are friendly and want to help. Steeds seems to be full of guys that are full of themselves and don't really care about matching you with a bike that is right for you. When I was looking for my Nomad a couple of years ago, he had asked me if I had looked anywhere else. I had mentioned looking in the states and he went on to tell me that there was no possible way to get the bike for any cheaper. Needless to say, I did find the bike for a lot cheaper!! I know many people aren't willing to drive down and get things like this, but it's worth it. I've only bought my road bike here in Canada. Mountain bikes just seem to be inflated in price, and Steeds seems to inflate beyond what all the other stores do. Price aside though, as I realize the states are just cheaper, the customer service was nonexistent. They have much to learn from John Henry!!!! read more

Went to the store to buy a road bike with my wife and experienced basic services. A salesperson eventually woke up from his day dreaming session and immediately asked for the budget. He showed us a bike with the price at the top of that range. Then when we asked for anything else (cheaper or other models on the display floor), he would just either disregard our questions completely or proceed to tell us that the bike he suggested is the best for us (yes of course the most expensive one). Eventually we decided to buy the bike which is even slightly out of our price range, but the service was again quite bad. At this point we got handed off to another salesperson. The new salesperson said that fitting is extra (even though most other shops would at least offer some basics version of the fitting). When asked, he just suggest that I ride around the back of the store. After riding like a circus monkey he said it looked good enough. He took no attempt to even try to understand how I physically fit onto the bike. In addition, by the time the resident mechanic tune up the bike, the frame and the handle bar tape are filled with smudges. I also asked about the basic functions of the bike (given that it is my first road bike), the salesperson just said don't worry about anything, that I should just ride the bike and come back after few days for a tune up. Overall the people in the shop were very friendly (three stars!) but also borderline useless. I feel there is very little difference between the serviceS I received at the store than if I had ordered a bike off a random shop on the phone. read more

I cannot say enough good things about the phenomenal customer service at this bike shop. I was given great direction on an affordable bike choice for my 10 year old when I first went in. I was told that it would take a couple of weeks for the bike to come in (selection was limited and it was coming in from Montreal). Last minute my family decided to do a bike trip to the island and the shop made every effort to bring it in ahead of schedule. Unfortunately there was a mixup and the bike I thought was waiting for me went to another buyer by the time I was able to leave work. Not the outcome I was hoping for given the circumstances, but what the shop did to rectify the situation was far more than I expected. They called me to let me know what had happened (I was on my way there) and the rep, Max told me to still come in and they would work something out. I thought most likely I would be given a used loaner (to use for the bike trip) until another bike could be brought in - I would have been totally fine with that as that would have been perfectly adequate and would have made things right (can't overlook the fact the bike was coming in a bit ahead of what I was originally told to expect and it was me that changed the requirements on the timeline after I ordered it without having paid for a rush shipment - the shop did rush to get the bike in and put together the day it came in, but mistakes do happen...) But regardless the owner went above and beyond and had a new replacement bike waiting for me when I arrived - one that was better and far pricier than the model I had purchased (without charging me a dime more). Now this is true customer service. I don't plan on purchasing a bike anywhere else because this is obviously a business that cares to make things right (even when they don't have to). read more

I was really impressed by the professionalism and work ethic of this bike shop. I brought my custom-built electric bike in, needing repairs in multiple areas (gears, brakes, levers, etc.) This was because the place I got my e-bike built did a really sketchy job. They looked at it and suggested some of the things that needed to be done, and I booked an appointment. I brought it in a few days later, and they got the job done in the same afternoon (since I told them I would otherwise have to bus home). The guy who repaired my bike spent considerably more than an hour on it, but charged me for only the one hour. They looked after every detail, and suggested some of the things which might wear out in the future. They even made some improvements which I didn't ask for. I would for sure go there again for my biking needs. They were also courteous and kind. read more

God awful service, I feel like they were trying to hustle me. Plus they tried selling me the most expensive items. Go somewhere else

Epic Fail! I went on June 8th, to buy a Specialized helmet (a birthday present, as it was my birthday the day before). Unfortunately, the helmet that I saw a couple of weeks earlier had been sold. They offered to order one in for me, as it was confirmed on their computer that they had them in stock back east. They took my name\number etc and told me that they would call when the helmet came in. On June 30th, I dropped in, as I was in the area. At first, nobody knew anything. They finally found the order on the computer, and told me that it was now out of stock, and no longer available. I was under the impression that nobody was going to call me with this information. They did apologize, and offer to give me a "deal" on a different helmet. Unfortunately, there weren't any that were comparable to the one I wanted in the first place. Very disappointing experience. read more

I am not exactly an extreme rider. In fact, I think as a dad of 2 with an urban bike which I use to ride to work and for fun, I am the opposite. Service was good, prices were fair and the bike works so much better! read more
