Misleading Range Claims The bike was advertised with a 50-100km range, but from the very first ride, it only ever displayed a maximum range of 48km on a full charge. Even after a warranty battery replacement, it never exceeded 70km, still falling well below advertised claims. I fully understand that terrain, assist mode, and weather can affect range, but when a bike is never capable of reaching its advertised maximum under any conditions, that's a problem. Poor Customer Service & Deflection When I reached out to the shop, I was initially met with condescending explanations about how e-bike range works--insinuating that I simply didn't understand power assist mechanics. I had to push repeatedly before they finally agreed to test the bike. Even after a battery replacement, the issue persisted, and I was given even more excuses about speed regulations and riding habits instead of a real solution. No Accountability & Stalling Refunds When I asked about a return, I was told it might be possible if the bike was in like-new condition--only to have the shop later stall the process by requesting an odometer reading that was never recorded at the time of purchase. This felt like a deliberate attempt to push the bike beyond return eligibility rather than a genuine effort to help. Final Dismissal - "Sell It Yourself" After months of back and forth, I was finally told that nothing more could be done, and that I should just sell the bike myself on Facebook Marketplace.

First stop was Trek Bicycle on Westwood Street. No stocks available, and they seemed too busy to answer questions. Hmm...that kinda layback and hipster attitude seemed far too familiar as I'm in the coffee business for 20+ years. Then we rushed over to Kinetik Cycles. Sales person seemed way too passive, and when we were shown a couple choices (my goddaughter needs a small or an extra-small frame), not much help was given about the seat height adjustments. I understand that the Kona we first tried was built a certain way where the seat stem was way too long for a small frame. The minimum seat height was so tall that it defeated the purpose of calling it "size small". We asked how we could make it possible to accommodate the height so my goddaughter could do a proper test ride. (Of course I know of a solution...just find a shorter seat stem and substitute it for a few minutes worth of test ride)...Nothing from the sales person, just a shrug of the shoulders, and followed by "if you buy the bike, we will saw the seat stem short for you". The more senior looking person behind the counter didn't offer any help as well. So basically it's like take it (for a spin) or leave it situation. I was seriously not impressed but as I mentioned earlier, I was on a mission to get a bike today. We've finally decided on a Devinci. Next, I asked about bike lock choices, and I forgot the brand I've recently bought (ARBUS...I later recalled). So I described the lock as metal plates folded together kinda lock. The sales rep said they do not carry such style, except u-shapes, and chains. As I proceeded to pay for the bicycle, helmet, and gloves I realized the ARBUS locks were just stacked in boxes, right next to the other locks. So after this long story, I guess one can comprehend how lay back and unenthusiastic the service was. And I'm about to make a point here...Kinetik Cycles, you've dropped the ball. I could have bought the second bicycle for myself on the same visit, but I've made up my mind to make that purchase somewhere else on my way back to Vancouver the same day. Please refer to the enclosed receipts...one purchase from Kinetik Cycle (which I reluctantly went through due to a tight time window), one purchase from Rad Cycle on Fraser and Broadway (very pleasant experience from real people working, and providing real service and advise at a greasy and not very rich looking shop). I did not hear from West Point Cycles - West 10th. I decided to stop in to find out when to bring the bike in, they told me to bring it that day. They had a date to repair my bike and was told the bike would be ready for pick up on Tuesday, April 8. I called on Thursday, April 10 - as I did not hear from them on Tuesday, or Wednesday, they advised they had my mobile number listed as a landline (why I received no notification) and why I did not receive anything via email is another mystery. Thursday's call advised the bike would be ready that night, or Friday, April 11. I decided to call Friday, April 11th and told me my bike would be ready tomorrow Saturday, 12. Then the manager Dave called (unprofessional) advises that the bike will not be ready until Sunday, April 13, as a part needs to come from their Langley store. They did not have a repair date like they told me of Saturday, April 5, or Sunday April 6? The bike was able to change gears prior to taking it - now it won't. They never advised this when I picked it up. I have lost confidence and trust in West Point Cycles - West 10th - I feel that I have been strung along, and they keep coming up with excuses why my bike is not ready. The lack of customer service is mind blogging and how does an organization operate with this much lack of service and care to the customer. It is the customer who is doing leg work when you want a bike repaired here. They did offer me a discount on the repair - which I refused.

They also took into account my wide foot size and tried several pairs of shoes (both road and mtb) to try to come up with a solution. They also took the time to explain the differences between the various Focus bikes. My friend also threw them a curve ball with his cleat/pedal install since he had a rounded allen bolt and questionable screw threads. In terms of selection, their variety of bikes, shoes and helmets blew Giant Vancouver away despite the store being smaller. As someone who's new to the sport, I couldn't think of a better resource at a great location on the North Shore.

He allowed our daughter to give the bike a test in the parking lot and didn't rush any decision. In fact, another employee did a quick tweak to the bike and let my daughter go for another spin to see if it made the use of the gears any easier. We also learned that they have a buy back / trade in program for children's bikes since the kiddos tend to outgrow their bikes quite quickly. I recommend anyone in the area to include this place when seeking out a bike. I bought my previous bike from them about 10yrs ago and remember the same high level of service and support.
