    Ube Shortbread

With just one visit I'm smitten. Service friendly. Vibes relaxed and unpretentious. Although they could boast how smooth and tasty they curate their matchas. I'm not a matcha connoisseur by any means but I've had matcha and then i had THIS matcha. Easily top 5 matcha drinks I've ever had. I really hope they offer a matcha flight one day so i can try more in one sitting. Looks like the menu changes from time to time and i was so happy that the Ube Shortbread was on menu when i visited. It was so pretty! Dunno if my pictures could really capture how this place made me feel but i hope you get the same feel when you visit. Cheers!

Finally got the chance to try Recess after discovering that I actually love matcha! I ordered the banana split iced matcha with a vegan donut, and both were absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. I'm officially obsessed. The line was a little hectic, but honestly so worth it. The atmosphere is such a vibe -- whether you're hanging outside enjoying the fresh air or inside surrounded by music, art, and good energy. If you're a matcha lover, this spot is definitely a must-try.

Cute, trendy and Indy's first matcha bar. The twenty something's are all hanging out here! Matcha is not always my thing - it's very earthy and I usually think it tastes like grass but apparently if it's done well, even the casual matcha drinker can find something they like. I ordered the "It's My Jam" off the seasonal menu. The matcha was layered with berry, milk and that beautiful green tea and topped with a lemon. The flavors were very nice. Not too sweet but very balanced. My husband also liked it (he usually likes matcha). Downsize is the hefty price tag. This drink was almost $10. I know they import their matcha and it's supposedly better quality so you are paying for that. But that means, for me, this can only be a once in a while stop because that is pretty steep for a drink. Everyone was very pleasant and nice, which created a welcoming atmosphere. I'll be back, just won't be a daily stop due to the price tag on those drinks.

Stopped by recess while driving through Indianapolis, as I saw on TikTok that they have very good matcha! I was not disappointed! My mom and I got the banana bread matcha latte and the blueberry lemon matcha! The flavors were well balance and the color was good. I'd give the banana matcha a 7 and the blueberry lemon matcha an 8. The line was quite long on a Sunday afternoon and the line moves slowly but they make each one to order so that makes sense. Staff was friendly. We had no problem finding street parking but there is no parking lot. There is some indoor and outdoor seating!

Very impressed by Recess. The matcha is very very good. I got the sprinkle matcha and it was so sweet and tasty. The decor and seating was set up nicely and very appealing. It is definitely busy but we went on a Sunday morning and didn't wait long. The presentation of the matcha is very nice and unique for the area!! Definitely recommend if you like matcha.

I'm the new kid on the matcha block but now I'm on the hunt for my favorite in the city! They close at 4:00pm & I made it around 3:45pm (I don't love being that person BUT it was now or way later lol) & despite me showing showing up right before close, they were still very friendly! I would say the atmosphere feels light & refreshing. Perfect if you want to enjoy the weather because they had the patio doors open today. I landed on the banana biscoff matcha latte and it was good. I wish I could have tasted the banana a little more but I enjoyed it. I would get it again.

This is such a cute place! The aesthetic is really chic. This is my second time having matcha and it was good! I liked it very much. I got one of their specials but was able to try the other ones from the menu since my friends all got different ones. Plus they had an Oat milk option which is a plus for lactose intolerance. The girl at the counter was really sweet. She offered to move some tables for my friend so we could be more comfortable. It can get busy at times with long lined sometimes.

I'm OBSESSED with Recess! I wasn't really a matcha girlie until I tried their drinks! Their matcha is ceremonial grade from Japan and their drinks are smooth and sweet - just the way I like them! Their rotating menu is fun and gives you something new to try every time you visit. If you're not a huge fan of matcha, they also offer a couple cold brew options which I've loved too! The ambiance and vibe of the shop is perfect. I love that they've added a good amount of outdoor seating and patio furniture, they can open up the garage doors on nice days! They're also dog friendly and give out pup cups 10/10 highly recommend!

I am normally a coffee girlie, but when I heard this spot opened up, I knew I had to try it. There is a beautiful space to meet up witu friends, bring your laptop and get some work done, and also a fun patio space. Once I took the first sip, I knew I would be back. The matcha at Recess is extremely delicious. I tried the berry matcha latte, the cinnatoast matcha latte, and the tiramisu. All three delicious in their own way. If you like matcha stop here. If you've never had matcha, stop here. The staff will be happy to guide you toward a delicious option.

What a cool spot (plus, woman owned). As a new matcha lover, I've been looking forward to checking this place out. When you walk in it gives cozy neighborhood/community vibes. There are only a few tables, with a soft seating area with a couple chairs. I ordered the bananagram matcha which was banana bread matcha and it was very very good. I didn't get a pastry, but learned their pastries are from Three Doll's - another new woman owned biz! Can't wait to go back and try another flavor. Ps - for coffee drinkers, they have cold brew.

Such a lovely first visit here this morning! From the friendly staff to the cozy and charming vibe of the space - I was bummed I had to peel myself away for another meeting. What to expect: -clever matcha creations - think banana bread, sprinkle cookie, s'more, etc. alongside classic matcha offerings -baked goodies from local Three Dolls Bakery -friendly staff -Clean and cozy space with a variety of seating options -location one block off the Monon Trail (Kennedy King neighborhood) Can't wait to work my way through the menu and visit again soon. Congrats to this new business for brining something fresh and fun to the community.

As a matcha lover, i've been patiently waiting for my chance to check out Recess! I'd seen the videos of the lines down the block so I knew it had to be something special, and I definitely agree with that. The decor is so cute + they were playing Taylor Swift so bonus points in my book LOL To be completely honest, I didn't care for the drink I got, but the cinnamon roll was DELICIOUS. If i'm ever in the neighborhood on a weekday when there's no line, I'll definitely stop in and grab one of the fruity matcha drinks to see how it compares.

    Hang D.

It's so cozy in here that one of these days they might catch me setting up shop to live in the little sofa corner for a bit. How would they know? The matcha is dark green as God intended. God could theoretically be a girl and all girls know good matcha. I took time to enjoy my berry matcha. My partner slurped his banana matcha at a disrespectful speed and I think that was frankly rude. Men should learn the drink is not going anywhere and no one will hurt them for taking polite sips.

The aesthetic is there. I want to be here. But at your price point, the experience needs to match the atmosphere, and lately there have been a few things quietly chipping away at that. First -- the syrup situation. I shouldn't have to order a specific menu latte just to get a flavored drink. A little flexibility goes a long way in making a customer feel like a guest and not just a transaction. Let me build my drink a little. I'll spend more, I promise. And the pastries, baby. I ordered a croissant and watched it get placed in a bag with a thin sheet of paper like it didn't deserve better. By the time I got home, it had made up its mind to be a different pastry entirely. I know there's a microwave back there -- I've seen it working for the breakfast sandwiches. A warm croissant is a small thing that changes everything. I'm not going anywhere. But I need you to know I notice these things -- because I care about what this place could be. Still yours (for now), A regular.

The Pinky Swear has a strawberry tea base with peach popping boba, and it's exactly what I order when I get boba at Harmony or Kung Fu Tea, so I knew I was going to like it! The "croffle" (a croissant in the waffle iron) is out-of-this-world delicious! It was the perfect balance of flaky and fluffy, and the Biscoff drizzle and fresh whipped cream made it even better. Now this is definitely not something that you can eat every day, but is a great occasional indulgence. On my most recent visit, I mixed it up and tried a coffee drink this time! I got the Biscoff latte, and it was literally perfect. The cup was lined with Biscoff cookie butter, and the rich espresso balanced out the sweetness and made it impossible to stop drinking. The only thing that would make this latte better would be if it came in a bigger size! One of my favorite things about Good Vibes is the half and half cup, where you can pick a drink for each side of the cup! It's a great way to enjoy everything Good Vibes had to offer without being forced to make a decision between two equally delicious drinks, plus it costs the same as a large drink! What's not to love?
