Did my first float today and was not crazy about it. I would not do it again. Let me explain why. I did 25 minutes of Infrared Sauna first before I did the float. So, I was pretty warm. I have a couple of friends did the floats before. One of them said she was cold the whole time. Since I am a person who is always on the cold side, I discussed the temperature with the staff. She assured me it would be fine. However, after I got into the float pod and started floating, I felt cold on the parts of my body that were not immersed in the water, but at that point, there was no button to call for someone. So, I put up with that. I started floating without any head support, after a few minutes, my neck started to hurt. So, I tried one of the two head supports. That didn't work. So, I tried the other one. That worked, By the time I found my groove, it was probably 20 minutes into the session. I finally started to relax, and I felt nauseous. I realized I was getting a mild sea sickness from the first 20 minutes of moving around! I actually got out of the float a little bit earlier. Another thing don't like was the lighting in the pod. It was changing from one color to another. I couldn't make it stay at one color. I could see the light changes even with my eyes closed. I found it not inducing to relaxation. Ear plugs they provided didn't work well either. I know there are a lot of 5 star reviews of the float, but I have to say, I would rather have a hot bath at home with Epson salt. By the way, the place is clean and staff are very nice. It's just not for me. Some people seem to love it. read more

Your arthritic knees will thank you after only 2 minutes of cryo. I also hear you lose a few hundred calories with each session, which is fine but doesn't help me much since I'm already pretty swole. read more

I have very painful rheumatoid arthritis and will try anything recommended. Makes sense to me the concept of cold then heat. Place and staff a five but the float experience was awful for me. I am 5 ft and 100 lbs, so the water temperature at95 is cold for me. The depth of the water too shallow. The stuff they give for neck for floatation accessories uncomfortable. I left after a minute and they refunded money. They said they would turn the temperature up for another try but even 3 degrees wouldn't do it for me. I am used to my home jacuzzi which I make so stem is coming out. I would still recommend based on the friendliness and cleanliness of staff. The feedback from other friends also was quite good. I think it was mostly that I am too thin for the cryotherapy then float. Maybe if I have courage I will try just the float with their recommendation to increase water temperature. I am a believer in trying new things and this place is definitely worth a try. read more

I came in recently for a float and cryotherapy, having never done either, and was blown away. First of all, the place itself is gorgeous--it feels like you're stepping into a James Turrell installation. Then there's the staff, who are extremely friendly and helpful. They've done a really great job of creating a welcoming culture and atmosphere. I admit I was slightly concerned about feeling claustrophobic in the float tank (I didn't), and being painfully cold during the cryo (I wasn't), and instead I had a blissful, centering and invigorating experience. First time floating. I have been wanting to try this and when I saw they opened in Rockridge I made an appointment right away. The staff was great and helpful. The room is nice with everything you need. Floating itself was great because you completely disconnect and found it very meditative since you have earplugs in you can focus on your breath and it's extremely relaxing. Did my first float today. Feel Awesome! Great staff, clean facilities, front desk guy (sorry, can't remember his name...) was low-key, informative, helpful, great guy. Float pod is in a private room. Go in, lock the door, strip down, wash up, get in the pod. Pointers: 1. Don't scratch your nose while floating. Drops of super salty water going into the sinuses, sting! 2. Don't sit up suddenly (see #1 above). This will cause the salty water on your hair to run forward into both eyes. 3. If the freshwater spray bottle should malfunction after a salty mishap (see #1-2 above), just unscrew the lid and pour the freshwater into your eyes. Don't fruitlessly try to spray it while growling at your own stupidity. 4. You will be slippery when you emerge from the pod. Don't slip while getting into your flip-flops in your relaxed state. 5. The pod is roomier than you expect. Pull the lid down before you recline. I'm 6'2". I lay down first and had to sit up to reach the lid handle. 6. There are options for music. The first 5/last 5 option works great to give you a wind-down warning with 5 min to go. Also, the light in your room will go off, so don't worry about the minor light leaking in when you start. It goes out momentarily, leaving you in darkness unless you choose to illuminate your pod interior with the light switch inside. The Awesome Woman gave me this float for Xmas. I loved it! Wish it wasn't so far from my home (2hrs). read more

What an incredible experience! The facilities are super clean and modern, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the float rooms each have private showers. The float pod itself is very roomy and not at all claustrophobic. You can listen to music or display ambient lighting while floating, but I prefer the sensory deprivation. It's so relaxing to float in thousands of pounds of epsom salt--not only does your body feel totally weightless, but the magnesium really helps sore muscles and joints. An hour floating feels like 8 hours of sleep. The prices are reasonable, and I'm always happy to support a local small business. read more

I love the float spa and am hooked. The first time, I felt like I had been hit by a truck! I was exhausted and drained but felt good. The second time I recovered a little faster. I think it's great for your body and very relaxing. I tried cryotherapy the other day for my knee and the juries out on that. I hope it helps! Tried cryo for the first time and it was amazing! Felt lasting effects all weekend long. I am so happy that Reboot is now in Oakland. The facility is just like the one in SF where I've floated before, where you immediately feel relaxed when you enter the building. Plus plenty of easy parking too. I had a hard time meditating the traditional way, because either I couldn't focus long enough or my back hurt from sitting still in one place. So I thought I'd try floating to help me meditate. We did a fair amount of research on floating places (I am a picky germaphobe) in the East Bay and choose ReBoot on College Ave. The service and cleanliness were top-notched, the experience amazing. The two lady receptionists were helpful and friendly. Seeing as it was my first time floating one of the ladies gave me a tour. The floating pods themselves are beautiful, glowing with LED lights, and sanitary too. I do wish they had shown me how to use the audio jack though, I was a little bummed that I couldn't play my Tame Impala songs at the end when I had my post-float shower.
