The steam was very relaxing. The ambiance was perfect, dim lit, relaxing music playing. Fresh Fruit, chocolate and beverages. The tech was very knowledgeable and informative. Very friendly and professional. It was a great first time and and everlasting relationship. I will definitely go again.

This was my first time doing a steam and it def won't be the last. I did my research and booked through their online. Super simple process and paid my deposit. The day of I Got a text and was instructed to go fill out my intake form which we did. When we arrived the place was sooo clean and decorated really cute. They had strawberry and chocolate served for each of us and those strawberries were so sweet and delicious. We were offered red or white wine which def adds a different touch to the relaxation. The lady was super nice also I loved her (can't recall her name so sorry) she was very knowledgeable and we were able to just talk as if we knew each other. She had both set ups for me and my friend and explained the differences in what each of us had and why they help. They soaked our feet as well. I will def be back next month.

I've been waiting to make an appointment just to have some me time and I finally did it! This was just the very thing I needed to kick off my new work week and relax. The atmosphere is so calming. This was my very first time having a #vsteam and I'm hooked. You won't be disappointed ladies. GO ahead, schedule yours.

She didn't just help me understand and regulate my hormones, she supported me through the full experience of perimenopause in a way that felt deeply holistic. She took the time to talk through the psychological, emotional, spiritual, and physical shifts I was going through, which made me feel seen and understood in a way I hadn't before. Now, I feel like I have my brain back. I have energy again. I can work out at the level I want, which is incredibly important to me as a dance teacher, and I feel happy and present with my child. Most importantly, I feel hopeful about my future again. I truly don't think I would have been able to make some of the big life changes I've been navigating without Dr. Jenn's support. Initially, as you enter the space, you feel (and smell!) the magic and love in the air. As within, so without. Sophia is beautiful on a soul- level and has created beauty all around her physical space. As we sat down and settled in, Sophia listened to me in a way that I don't think I've ever been listened to before. She closed her eyes allowing both my words and energy to be heard and seen. I felt totally safe as I let down my guard and shed some tears. Sophia is full of insight & wisdom and is clearly a natural born intuitive. I felt as if she already knew why I was there. As the healing began, Sophia was all love and light, shining her "flashlight" into all my dark places, flushing them out, and filling them back to pure love. I was so comfy and relaxed. My regular doctors were unable to help me with a skin and inflammation issue that I've had for years, and after speaking with Dr. Korza and following her advice I was able to solve the issue. She was able to help me with supplements and nutritional advice almost immediately as opposed to years of multiple doctors not being able to help me. Most recently she prescribed that I do some blood work and it showed that I was one point away from being pre-diabetic and that I had extremely high iron/ferritin. Again, through her help I was able to get within a normal range, so I am no longer in danger of bing pre-diabetic and my iron/ferritin is down to normal levels. She did a very thorough assessment of my health history and background, listened to my concerns, and ordered a variety of lab tests. For the first time, I had a doctor sit with me for an hour and talk through each lab result, what they meant, and whether or not certain things were issue areas of concern. She was able to point out something I had been concerned about and gave me just a few supplements to address the issue. I've only had two appointments with Dr. Korza and it's been about four months since my first appointment, but I finally feel like I'm in control of my health and on a path to fully understanding my needs. I have flat feet…read moreand am pigeon-toed, but otherwise have developed a posture that is pretty typical of a lot of people in my generation who did not follow their teachers' instructions to sit up straight. I began seeing Diya after researching both Feldenkrais and Alexander practitioners. She was referred to me by Giora Pinkas, one of the founders of the certification program at the Alexander Educational Center in Berkeley, which happens to be one of the first created in the country. We began working immediately, and after the first session I knew that this was right for me. Ever since I was very young I've had coordination issues with my body - whether with exercise-induced asthma, discomfort in sitting or sleeping, or, more recently, anxiety and tension caused from stress. But even in our first session, Diya showed me how to sit and to stand in a way that was more optimal than I was now. The principles are pretty simple: allow the neck to be free, lengthen and widen the back, "think" UP along the spine, breathe deeply and from the back of the stomach. But if you've been taking shallow breaths for 15 years or more, the difference in comfort and freedom is night and day. Like anything else, results do not come easily. Diya expects a certain level of commitment from a student, and you really have to make it a long-term goal if you intend to truly improve your comfort. But Diya is professional, kind, and definitely one of the most patient people I've ever worked with. As someone who has had a repetitive-stress injury from working with computers, she is very sympathetic to the daily insults upon the body that are a part of modern life. I recommend her work to anyone who wishes to develop better posture, awareness of their body, and overall health. Her rate is very reasonable, especially considering what you get out of it. As a side note, as someone who worked with autistic children and be interested in somatic psychology, I think that Alexander Technique, as a practice, is ideal for individuals on the high end of the autistic spectrum, or for parents who are looking for alternative therapies. I believe the connectedness to the body that is taught with Alexander is absolutely key to working with autism in others or in yourself. Go for an initial visit. You won't be disappointed.

I went…read moreto her feeling skeptical about the idea of Alexander Technique, but she introduced me to the concepts and the skills through easy step-by-step motions, starting with the "simple" act of sitting down. I had so much back pain and hip pain when I started seeing her, I thought nothing would help. At first, I didn't see any difference, but slowly over a few weeks of sessions, I saw amazing changes. Even my yoga practice started changing, as I realized how much of AT can be applied to yoga. I started walking differently and going up stairs differently, and that decreases my hip pain so much. I work at a desk job and I also work at a very physically demanding job. Diya helped me trouble shoot activities for both jobs, and decrease the amount of back pain I feel in both of them. Diya is kind and gentle. She wants you to understand this for yourself, and she will help you get to the "ah-ha!" moments on your own. I feel so much better in my body because of our work, and she helped me build a set of skills that are useful in all kinds of activities.

Core Wellness Functional Medicine - Dr. Carolyn Finnegan, IFM Certified, Core Wellness Functional Medicine, Oakland

Core Wellness Functional Medicine

North Oakland

Update to my original review:…read more I was hoping to update my original review to add a positive twist. While I'm apologetically correcting how she referred to herself (see below), I can only add that Carolyn seems now to be practicing the fine art of "CYA". Backpedaling and claiming innocence. She has reached out to me via voicemail with a request to discuss supplement policy - NOT her profit making off of them. (GREED?) Overall, with her dismissive attitude, defensiveness regarding supplement profits, TREMENDOUS PUSHINESS to purchase supplements from her preferred provider (which would increase her bank account + lack of transparency) and questioning her associate's decisions in my presence, I would still 100%, encourage others to seek holistic healthcare elsewhere. ORIGINAL: I've read off a lot of great reviews regarding Carolyn's chiropractic care. But this is not that. Carolyn is a true business woman first; a functional medicine doctor on the side. Her bedside manner could use a good dose of polishing. She needs to keep in mind who is working for who and keep her ego in check. I sought a functional medicine doctor to address my gut and stress issues stemming from decades-old C-PTSD. From the moment we met, Carolyn went to work on treating these conditions. She provided me with supplement treatment and valuable suggestions, which I followed and began feeling better. Carolyn didn't stop there. She immediately showed interest in replacing specialists I've been working with for years, which was a red flag. I hadn't made these requests, and her interest was unnerving and aggressive. I told her not interested on a couple points yet she continued to push her agenda and added more unnecessary supplements to my treatment plan. Carolyn's website states an option to purchase supplements from other sources than those she prefers. That was appealing to me. What she does not disclose is that she receives a profit off her clients when they make purchases from her preferred supplement provider. Upon learning that Carolyn's preferred supplement provider allows practitioners to set their own price to charge clients, I questioned her about what percentage, if any, she profits. Her response, a DEFENSIVE; "I am not legally or ethically (clearly, MORALS don't count) required to provide a separate written disclosure regarding practitioner margins on supplements or lab tests. Because supplement purchases are optional and not tied to care, a commission disclosure is not mandated." Yet her website states: "Supplements prescribed by our practitioners as part of a personalized treatment plan are considered medical necessities." SO WHICH IS IT? OPTIONAL OR MEDICALLY NECESSARY? "I provide patients with a 10% discount through Fullscript, and the practitioner margin I receive is approximately 25%, which is well below the typical margin received by practitioners." (The other practitioners do use verbiage which disclose a profit.) "Recommendations are made based on clinical judgment and patient need, not financial incentive." So then WHY all the unnecessary additions, even after I told her NO? $$$ I did not purchase every supplement added to my plan In 3 months time, I did purchase $2,781.12 in supplements from which she unapologetically PROFITED. No transparency required. None provided. Icky. A huge turnoff, learning this from a third party. The last time I met with Carolyn, I reported several personal gains. Yay! The treatment was working! Each one of my gains was met by sadly dismissive remarks; followed by her admission of being "nitpicky". (Apologetically edited from original review.) During that same visit, she admonished the nutritionist she works with for recommending an OTC Collagen/Peptides for me. "I'll ask her; we we have a meeting tomorrow" and "you can buy that stuff anywhere". Followed by.....another supplement addition to my plan which she could profit from! The WHY is clearly because Carolyn wasn't making a profit on the OTC brand. By the way, the nutritionist, Magdalena, is lovely and down to earth. If you've read my review this far, I hope you will think very seriously about taking your health concerns to an honest, transparent naturopath with morals (they do exist).
