OMG! I was not a fan of pizza, that is until I got a meat lover's pizza from Reba's. The crust, not too thin and not too thick; Crispy, yet tender and the meat was oh so flavorful, my pizza was baked to perfection. (FYI, I live in San Antonio and am very tempted to take a road trip for my next yummy slice.) Then there dessert...well, located within a rocks throw of Brenham, you know what to expect, and it ain't just yummy cookies and cake. Yes, ladies and gentlemen (drumroll) you guessed it...BLUE BELL ICE CREAM!! Spoiler alert they failed to have my favorite daiquiri ice but you're not going to lose me over that. (Hint: just saying for future options. I'll be on the lookout next time I'm rolling down 290 East.) All good and well, the girls behind the counter were attentive and nice. And the restaurant rang of a good place to go after a go hometown Buffalo's Friday night football game. (This is Texas you know.) Reba's is easy to find and quite convenient. It's a large restaurant with a very nostalgic feel. The place is open and lots of seating. Music is great! We grabbed a menu and sat down. I noticed it's a bit limited on burgers and sandwiches but perhaps good for the area and easy for the staff to make. We ordered and added some pies, paid in cash for the discount and left to fill our cups. The cashier and another employee had conversations amongst themselves while we were ordering and paying. Felt a bit awkward since we didn't want to interrupt their hugging and or whatever they were doing. The sweet tea stayed mostly empty but lots of unsweetened tea. We dove right into our pies first. The Almond Joy didn't taste like the candy bar as much as an amaretto coconut pie but really good! The buttermilk pie was really good too. I ordered the chicken poblano "burger". The lettuce was sadly very soggy as was the whole sandwich. Thankfully the bun was toasted because there was way too much mayo. I noticed right away that it was just bland. The chicken was thick which is great but it was bland on bland on bland. No poblano flavor. I looked for the peppers. They were grilled/sautéed and thin. Soggy sitting under the lettuce. No flavor. The fries weren't anything special but the crunch. The tea was sadly tasteless as well. I really wish there was more to say. My mom's sandwich was just sort of...there. Nothing special to talk about. I'd go again for pie and coffee alone and only if I was desperate for something to eat. There may be better places to eat in town. It's slow paced inside. Food was delicious and just what I was craving. I ordered the truffle shuffle burger with extra crispy fries, and my husband got the Chipotle chicken sandwich (they used pita bread). We were both very satisfied with the food, ambiance, and customer service. We went right after the lunch rush hour, so it was perfect for us. Unfortunately, the bathrooms do not have a baby training station so we had to use one of the booths to change our baby. But no one gives us trouble about having to do that. This was a pitstop for us on our way up to Georgetown. We're glad we made a stop here and if we ever pass through again, we plan to make this pitstop in the future. read more

This place came recommended by one of the locals we talked to at another local business. There is a large parking lot behind the restaurant otherwise street parking is available. If you're walking in from the main street, you'll notice they serve ice cream and fudge as you enter. Off to the left, there is a bar and bar service starts at 4 PM. On Thursdays, you can get half price drafts on certain selected beers after 4pm. A lot of Yelpers mentioned this surly old lady at the register........ and yep she was there. This is one of those businesses where you order at the counter and they bring it out to you. I was surprised they did not flip around and tip screen, but you can add $ to the tip jar. This place is known for its pizzas, burgers, and sandwiches. We decided on the truffle burger and a side salad with a scoop of chicken salad. For the money, everything was on par with fresh vegetables and worthy of ordering again. In my younger days, I would've added a bluebell shake to the order as well, so we shared a slice of coconut pie instead. Cute little place. Parking was easy peasey. I like the cleanliness of the place and nice spacing for seating. We ordered at the counter and they brought it out to your table. I was so excited to finally have time to actually stop in Giddings for lunch to check this place out. I had driven by so many times going back-and-forth between Austin and Houston. What a cute place. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Good selection. I felt like my food was a little salty for my liking, but the other three really enjoyed their sandwiches. They also have bluebell ice cream you can order at the counter, which, of course was my favorite part. They have a medium sized bar, which at another time of the day might have been a stop of ours. Decorated so cute. I recommend going in the side street entrance rather than the 290 entrance. Definitely a great place to grab a quick bite while passing through, but it looks like many of the locals dine here as well. read more

Nicely decorated, spacious and love the vibe. However, things went bad when the food arrived. Not a fan of raw bacon on my Club Sandwich.

The woman at the register was rude: so rude in fact that I was afraid to order exactly what I wanted or ask further questions. First I had asked about the soup of the day was and she rudely said "look behind me" referring to the board behind her. I said "oh I'm sorry" and continued to order 2 very simple to go meals: half of a sandwich soup she was very flustered that I changed one of the soups while she was trying to type in the order. I asked nothing about toppings or additional questions like I wanted to. And I asked her "about how long?" And she began by saying " probably 15 minutes because we've been slammed all day long," in a very unhappy tone. I'm still waiting for my food. It has been over 15 minutes. But simply due to this woman I'm giving my experience so far two stars. I haven't eaten, but I'm not expecting to be blown away by the food as certainly not blown away by the service. Update : the sandwich was actually quite good! The bread was soft tuna and toppings tasted very fresh. The nenu had said it came with avocado which it did not, but it's ok . Also, the woman that brought our food was kind and said sorry for the wait. So I moved up my review from 2 to 3. Again it's entirely based on this first woman's attitude. That's the first face of the restaurant! To me, this is your job and you should be happy to youre busy! Not complaining to your customers and taking your impatience out on them. read more

The menu is so full of so many items that sound delicious that it's a challenge to choose just one thing. So we chose to each order something different and to share. Back in the day when pizza was a significant part of my grazing, I used to meet my brother and his wife at Reba's before they moved to their new place. We always shared a vegetarian pizza and it was always delicious. The crust was well baked and the ratio of the toppings balanced. This is a local eatery that serves sandwiches, soups and burgers. My favorite is the Dirty Harry, which is just like a Reuben. You get a bag of classic lays potato chips and a pickle spear. It says on the menu it's $11.99, but they charged me $13 for it. I went in here midweek during lunch and it was packed, so be sure to add time for waiting in line. The experience was good. I requested a To Go order by phone. The order taker rattled off the soups of the day without pause, requiring me to ask for a repeat. However, everything else was perfect. The potato, bacon, cheese soup was declared delicious by my friend and the supreme pizza had a wonderfully flavorable crust that could have used a little additional crisping, particularly on the bottom. The toppings were high quality and very tasty. It even tasted good reheated the next morning. The store itself is geared toward families and seemed to be well maintained. Reba's belongs on a pedestal. Passing through Giddings is a treat only because I know I will be stopping by Reba's. Before I went vegetarian, my go to was the Hawaiian pizza. All the ingredients are super fresh including the fresh not canned pineapple. Believe me it makes a HUGE difference. When it comes out it is piping hot. Be careful not to burn yourself. The burn is worth it tough. The pizza is a TEN and that is why I have been coming for years and years bringing my friends and family.
