Greeted at the door and quickly sat at a booth. Server was quite nice, chips and salsa to the table in a minute. Chips and salsa were excellent. Then I did order the steak and enchiladas, beans, rice, and chile toreado, with corn tortillas. I have to say the meal was excellent. Everything was perfect. This was our second choice since our first choice was closed for the 4th of July. The service was great but for the love of god do not use the restrooms or order the pork carnitas because both were awful. Our server graciously swapped the greasy fatty pork chunks with fajita chicken strips and all was right with the world. The green cheese enchiladas were tasty. About what you would expect for a Tex Mex restaurant in Giddings, Texas. We ended up here because we went on a last-minute camping trip yesterday morning and didn't want to deal with food at the park, so just grabbed some dinner at a local spot. It's a pleasant place that has seen better years, but the atmosphere is warm and inviting. We got sat at a booth and started with a frozen margarita (cloying, alcoholess) a Negra Modelo (icy cold, pleasant), and a truly nasty Horchata aqua fresco that our daughter refused to drink after her first sip. Chips with complimentary salsas were pretty good, but the queso was the melty gloop that doesn't have much to it. For dinner one of us got the chicken soup, which was honestly quite tasty. It had a wonderfully flavorful broth, tender chicken, and lots of veggies that made the whole thing a perfect bowl on a soggy night (great sides of avo, salsa, shredded tortilla too). The Los Patrones combination plate was less appetizing. The taco with ground beef got completely soggy, so it was a pile of mush by the time you tried to pick it up; steak fajitas were, uh, chewy. You have four different people helping you with four different things, and it was very wham bam, here you go, that's all folks. OK, this is starting to sound like we had a bad experience, and we really didn't. It's a decent spot, and about what we anticipated, so no hard feelings, and you could definitely have a nice, cozy night here. read more

I ordered tortilla soup, a small guacamole and the 5 mini taco plate to go. We are from out of town and had never tried this restraints food but saw it had good reviews so decided to try it. Having been raised in south Texas and being a Texans I have eaten a lot of Mexican food. I have NEVER had tortilla soup with mushrooms and no tortillas in it. I absolutely cannot eat mushrooms so there went my dinner. My husband had the mini taco plate and said his was ok. I started eating the guacamole and noticed something hard in the middle of it. Thinking they may have left the seed for freshness ( it's a wives tale that the seed keeps the avocado from turning brown ) I proceeded to dig it out! It was a hunk of meat! There went the rest of what I was going to eat. The total for our meal was $37 before tip, and my dinner was ruined! Who cooks tortilla soup with mushrooms and the soup had 0 tortilla in it! Not 1 chip! The guacamole had a hunk of meat in it that came from who knows where. Most expensive 5 taco mini plate I ever paid for since that's all that was eatable! read more

From the second we got there, to the second we left, every table was completely full. There was absolutely no social distancing. We ordered our food, and brought it to us no longer than 15 minutes later. That was the only time they came to our table, aside when we had to flag someone down to get a drink. It's like they had completely forgotten about us. Our entrées were pretty good, nothing really worth mentioning... I can see why there are such great reviews about the place. I ordered the Border Sampler (Fajita quesadillas, nachos, stuffed shrimp jalapeños, and chicken fried burritos) which was great. I've never smelled a more terrible smelling restaurant. It's extremely unappetizing from the moment you walk in. I think it stems from the women's restroom- which takes your breath away in the worst of ways. Septic? Mold? A combination? We were with a group of about 8 tonight and every single person in our group struggled with the smell. We didn't last more than few seconds in the restroom. It's that bad. I hope they get it fixed soon. read more

I don't live in Giddings, but whenever I visit friends in town we usually go to Los Patrones for dinner. Their food is consistently good, this time was no exception. The service is exceptional. There were a few things that need improvement: There was a very off-putting odor when entering the restaurant. It smelled to me like spoiled milk, my friend said it was more like vomit. That smell needs to be remedied ASAP. Also, the mens restroom needed a thorough cleaning and graffiti removal. Next time I'm in Giddings, we might need a new dinner location. read more

The salsa and chips were great and just the right heat. Had the Los Patrones combo and shared with my husband. We both enjoyed it a lot. We saw the signs & decided to stop, and I'm glad we did! I got a patron margarita and a ground beef Chile relleno, my friend got a Mexican martini and veggie quesadilla, and we shared the queso dip. This must be one of Giddings best kept secrets! Traveling through headed to Austin and needed a place for lunch. We stopped here and got Parilladas with double beef fajitas, pork ribs, and bacon wrapped shrimp. It was some of the best fajitas I have ever had, the bacon wrapped shrimp was so good I would fight someone over them, and the charro beans were phenomenal. We loved the chips, salsa, and green salsa as well. You should definitely give this place a try! read more
