Bernie's Bar and Grill in Giddings, Texas!!!
Denise G.

The best bar in Giddings. The food is absolutely amazing. Daily drink/food specials, live music and awesome karaoke on certain weekends. A great place to hang out and get this, they're open until 2 am. You won't be disappointed.

I am truly appalled that there were sticks filled with cheese ready to fry, and the owner killed the last of the marinara leaving the vat baron for the eve. Total bullshit. I will never get sticks of cheese here again. Blasphemy !! :(

Perfect date night...Fabulous meal's at Main Street Uncorked. Chef Faith is "a hidden gem"…read more Portion size is huge and flavor is spot on. Atmosphere is pleasing and comfortable - not stuffy but an elegant appeal. Sit out on the patio for enjoyable evening. From brunch to lunch to dinner this is worth the drive to the little town in Brenham, Tx.

There were two tables outside with customers. There was no one at the bar and maybe 3 tables seated inside. We walked in and were talking about whether we wanted to get a table or sit at the bar. We started walking towards the bar when the bartender walked by and in a very rude tone said, Can you all wait to be seated? We stopped and said oh sure. We were caught off guard because the bar seating is typically open seating. After digesting how rudely the bartender talked to us we decided to go elsewhere and left. Could have been a completely different situation had he asked us nicely or greeted us and said something like, we'll be right with you! As someone who has worked in the service industry for years, specifically high end restaurants, it was no way to be "greeted" or spoken to. Won't be back - plenty of other businesses in town to spend our money with!

College me would have lived here !! Enjoyed a French 75, my husband enjoyed a smoked Old Fashioned and it was a great place to grab a drink prior to seeing Springsteen at the Moody seated amongst candles , a weird alter of sorts while enjoying some Stevie Wonder as is playing now though some weird NIN or Type O might have been more appropriate

I went to Whisler's and had one of the worst bar experiences I've ever had…read more I had one drink. I was completely sober for all intents and purposes. The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.

Nice and big and just that old town feel. Takes you back to the late 1800's or early 1900's. Plenty of cold beer options and decent wine list. And fair prices - tip just buy the bottle of wine. It's a deal. Service was great as well. We didn't order any food but some interesting options. This place is certainly worth stopping in while you're downtown shopping.

Fantastic Gem in Downtown Smithville!…read more If you're craving tapas flair with an intimate, cozy vibe, the Front Room is a must-visit. Styled like a Scottish pub--complete with a warm fireplace and plush leather chairs--this bar-tapas hybrid delivers elevated comfort in every sip and bite. Food & Drinks: * The menu is a delightful mix of small plates and satisfying mains. We couldn't get enough of the spinach‑artichoke dip, perfectly crisp pot stickers, and their indulgent boursin cheese spread (gluten free version available). * Their wine list and artisan cocktails are both creative and robust--perfect after a long day. Bonus: their rotating craft beers round it all off nicely. Vibe & Service: * The atmosphere hits the sweet spot--not too rowdy, not too quiet. Great for conversations, group gatherings, or date night. * Staff are relaxed, but attentive--felt like old friends bringing me comfort food and thoughtful pours. Events & Extras: * They frequently host live music--from regional acts to indie favorites--bringing lovely local energy. * Pet‑friendly patio setup is a big plus for dog owners--one reviewer even mentioned the owner greeting their dachshund. Overall: A solid 4.6-4.8 star crowd-pleaser on review sites, and for good reason. The Front Room Wine Bar is the perfect blend of upscale bar meets hometown charm. Whether you're winding down after Saturday shopping, catching local tunes, or just need a cozy spot for wine and chat--this place checks every box. Highly recommended!
