Just happened upon this jewel of a restaurant while looking for another restaurant! :o) We were not disappointed. We were warmly greeted and seated immediately. The dining area is not very spacious, but is intimate, which I really like. We enjoyed the background music, which was along the lines of smooth jazz. Our server was super nice and explained in great detail, the specials for the day. We started the meal with several appetizers: Spring Rolls, Fried Calamari, and Crab Cheese Wontons. We enjoyed the appetizers along with the sauces (except for the peanut sauce, which I didn't care for). For our entrees, we choose from the Specials menu, which was written on a board for all to see. I ordered the Red Snapper, which was fried and topped with carrots, baby tomatoes, onions, pineapple and cilantro. Had I been listening as I should, I would have asked to not include the pineapples or the loads of cilantro. The dish came with a side of rice. My husband ordered the ribs and chicken entree with noodles. He said the ribs were good; they were so tender that they slide off the bone. Both entrees were tasty; in my case, a quick fix was to push the cilantro and the pineapples to the side and enjoy my fish with just the veggies. To add to our dining experience, the chef and/or owner came out ask if we were enjoying our meal; love the special touch. We finished the meal with an order of ice cream that we shared. I am usually fine with just plain vanilla ice cream, but what we ordered was different and quite delicious. The ice cream is "home-made" and comes in exotic flavors. Food is delicious and fresh! I have eaten in for lunch and have also ordered take out. We have tried the fried spring rolls, mango curry, Massaman curry, beef pad Thai, chicken fried rice, and honey chicken. The curry is delicious. The spring rolls are good. I would pass on the fried rice next time as $20 for a half a take out container of rice is very high. The white rice was perfect. I found it a little weird that whole baby carrots are in the dishes. I wish the portion size was larger for the price. The portions are the size people should eat, but at around $25 for an entree, you kind of hope you have some leftovers. We finished everything in one setting and would have eaten more if it was available. The decor in dining room is interesting. I don't love the chair covers. The service is great. The server explained all of the specials when I dined in. When I called to order, the lady on the phone was able to help me decide on what to order. I would like to make this a regular place for us, but with a price tag of $110 for a family of 4 (no drinks since it was take out), it will stay a special occasion restaurant. Visiting my cousin in Tallahassee and we were craving Asian food. There isn't much Asian food in general in the area. So when I came across Reangthai, we thought why not. The place is small & that evening it was quiet which made me skeptical of my choice. However, when the food came out, my doubts went away and I was transported into a wonderful world of flavor. I went with the Rendang Curry with beef. What was unique about this dish was the nutty flavor coming from the peanuts. The curry sauce was perfection. I know that the chef puts her own style into the dish, which is very nice. It really felt like a home-cooked meal. She did come out to say hi to us as well; she is a very sweet lady. I wish this place was where I lived and not so far away. Whether you live in Tallahseee or you're just visiting, this gem is worth a taste! read more

The flavor is real, authentic Thai cuisine. It's been a rough time looking for a comparable essence of Thai food from other Asian restaurants, that's why we came back here. Haven't been here since 2022. Last time the portion was small. Price has been affected by Covid. Now the portion is acceptable, price is affected by inflation. With that aside, moving on the the review of our order. The specials: 1-mango curry with shrimp and fish(can't remember what type). Has really good flavor of coconut curry, medium heat, shrimp and fish were cooked exceptionally. Served with steamed rice. It's my first time having mango with curry but it blends well ( warning: I think one aspect of getting this dish is that you should like mango in the first place or you'll be disappointed with it). Try if you dare 8/10. 2- Pad Thai special of the day. It has beef ribs and shrimp. This is also an excellent combination. The ribs are cooked perfectly falling off the bone, shrimp is juicy and plump. The sauce is perfected with a seasoned Chef that made it. Must try 10/10. Appetizers: Chicken Satay and fresh spring rolls. The staples of a thai restaurant. Equally good. 7/10. Beef curry - not shown. 7/10. Another staple of Thai restaurants. More like a comfort food with carrots and potatoes. the beef is a little chewy. Probably needed a more delicate timing to cook it. Desserts: sticky rice with Mango and Coconut ice cream.10/10 must try. New York cheesecake with caramel drizzle and coconut ice cream 8/10. Berry ice cream with wafers. 10/10 Must try. Nice little Thai place with great ambiance. We had 2 of the specials which were fabulous but ask the price, they were about $35 each and not posted so our bill was kind of a shock. A bit pricy for a Thai place. I can't tolerate hot spicy food, so I asked for my udon noodle dish to not be spicy, but they made it with NO SPICE instead of no heat, so it was very bland and tasteless. Be sure and ask for no HEAT if you don't want it spicy. We also had the ice creams which were very good. I would recommend this place if you keep in mind my suggestions in this review. If you haven't been to Reangthai Restaurant lately, you should go! It is one of the oldest restaurants in Tallahassee, in business for over 30 years. I normally only get food to go, but I made a reservation for my friend, his service dog, and me for dinner tonight. I am highly immunocompromised and rarely go indoors anywhere, so I suggested we go at 4pm when they opened to get there before any crowds. It was fabulous! Reangthai has always been one of my favorite local restaurants. Chef Donna is so talented, and the food is fresh and delicious! She makes family recipes from Thailand with high quality local ingredients. The service is always excellent, too. Kim was our server and was very kind including to my friend's service dog. We ordered crispy spring rolls with shrimp as an appetizer, and we each got Tom Kha soup with lots of extra spicy peppers added, one with shrimp and one vegetarian. We asked for it extra, extra hot and it was perfect. My friend ordered the Pork and Shrimp Pad Thai Special, and it was beautifully presented and plentiful. I ordered the Mango Curry Special with Shrimp. We were both too full to finish our meals and got to-go boxes, though I recommend leaving room for dessert if you enjoy sweets like sticky rice, cheesecake, and moon scoops (dairy-free frozen scoops). The food is expensive here. We ordered the mango chicken "special" and it was $35. A slice of cheesecake is $13. The portions were average and wasn't fantastic tasting. Considering the ceiling that is stained and looks like it's about to fall down, it's just not worth it. The service was borderline annoying. Our waitress told us the vegetable that was in the special was asparagus. It was broccoli Rabe. Not only was she incorrect but she was snarky as well. We didn't know, we showed up to get the food (for 8 of us), and we didn't have that much cash on us and the food was ready, so we were stuck paying the 4% charge. One of the dishes for my traditional Chinese New Year dinner is fish. To be honest, I didn't feel like tackling cooking a large fish on this auspicious day, so decided to call Reangthai to ask if they would prepare their special whole Snapper for me to takeout. I spoke to Donna, the owner and cook, who graciously agreed. It was perfect! The fish was fresh, beautifully garnished, and simply delicious. I cannot believe I've never dined at Reanthai before, but after last evening's delightful dinner experience I am already looking forward to my next visit. The dining room is intimate and decorated in a charming, if not eclectic; fashion with big golden roses and pink linens. The server, Ben, was personable and knowledgeable and able to meet the needs of our multi-generational party, one of whom is a vegetarian. The curry was spicy and savory. The other dishes were equally successful. We finished with tasty desserts.....coconut based ice cream and mango sticky rice. What an absolute gem of a restaurant! The food that chef makes absolutely blew me away it was hard for me to comprehend why this place wasn't packed on a Friday night. My only guess is maybe the location? I found the restaurant to be cozy which made the experience more intimate. My wife had the Pad Thai with Short Ribs and shrimp and it was in spicy peanut sauce (we both requested Hot) and it was by far some of the best short ribs I've ever had in my life! So tender and juicy. Shrimp cooked to perfection. I had the Thai Fried Rice with the option to have it done with Pineapple and Chicken. Absolutely delicious. We also both had Tom Kha Soup for an appetizer and split and order of Crispy Spring Rolls. Entrees we're 10/10. Appetizers we're 9/10 and the customer service was 10/10. Maybe I just caught them on an off night, but I definitely didn't get the five-star dinner I was expecting. My search for "best Thai in Tallahasee" promoted me to call Reangthai and place an order for pick up. The service was very friendly and professional. The pick up experience was spot on... once I found the restaurant on a dark night. The dining room looked very comfortable and inviting. My order was bagged and ready to go when I arrived. I eagerly drove back to my family's house where everyone was hungry and ready for Tallahasee's best Thai. We started with the Tom Kah soup, which is (right-or-wrong) my first gauge of the quality of any Thai restaurant. It was just blah, with absolutely zero spiciness even though I ordered it medium spicy. The pad Thai was pretty decent. The pad see ew, cashew nut chicken, Reanthai fried rice and Sweet Udon A, were ALL just mediocre. I fully expected at least one or two out of seven dishes to impress at least one of the four of us who shared them, but sadly we were all in agreement. Maybe I'd give Reanthai another try in the dining room, but we'll look elsewhere next time we're in the mood for Thai takeout in Tallahasee. read more

We order a house salad which we shared with a fresh ginger sauce. This was followed by white rice and two dishes. We love duck so we picked the duck in a basil sauce, which was v pleasant.. my son loved it, but I was a little disappointed, I wanted the duck skin to be crispier and maybe the sauce not so runny. Why it call drunken noodle. It is not definitely not cook with alcohol. It is just drunken with spicy chili and that is the reason they call that name. From presentation to flavor -I feel like it needs to be represented accurately so this is why I am writing this, that way someone else won't make the same mistake we did. We ordered three apz and 4 entrees and were disappointed with everything. I have been to Thai restaurants all over the US and this is by far the worst on every level. Then when I spoke to someone who lives in Tallahassee (we drove over an hour from south ga to go there) I found out that three people who used to work there said the owner RECYCLES the food. However, several things really rubbed me the wrong way. The service was slow and while very pleasant, the waiter was new (at least I hope so) and not comfortable in his role and not very efficient. The menus posted outside were nice, but once inside all the prices were increased with handwritten corrections. I get it, inflation is high, but put the price increases everywhere. When I got the check, I was again surprised to see a 4% charge for using credit or debit! I don't carry a lot of cash and while I could have paid for our meals, I did not have enough for the tip... so credit card it was .
