Jennifer Shaw has been in the business a long time and we loved her knowledge and how she ran the team. They did not disappoint! She got us scheduled in and aligned her team and the process began. I wish I could be writing a better review, but once my design consultant left - any care they took to remodel my bathroom went away. Upon first look, I was happy with the bathroom. But then I noticed the mirror and lights were not hung evenly, and the contractor had thrown away my new fixtures. The plumbing was incorrect, and took three return trips before they finally hired a professional plumber to fix it. (My shower head is still loose to this day, almost a year later). The paint is uneven, and I had to re-caulk the tub weeks after they finished. I knew by paying the final payment it would be hard to get things fixed, and I was right. It's otherwise nice to look at if you're not looking closely, but for a luxury shop... it feels a lot less than luxury. read more

I recently worked with Jennifer Shaw from RD Homes, for the second time. She was very helpful with choosing our carpet and ordering our electric Dimplex fireplace. I do not typically, nor have I ever, hired workers via long distance, and during my absence. I totally trusted Jennifer to help me with my choice, and to work with our HOA, which can be difficult... This recent project was during the epic storm and flooding in Montecito, and we had to make some weather adjustments to our plan, and she had to coordinate with our carpenter. It all went smoothly and we are exceptionally pleased with the result! I was nervous about doing this all in absentia, but it was easy to coordinate our project with Jennifer! Words can hardly describe how happy my fiancée and I are about our condominium renovation by Reed Interiors and Construction. We asked for our project to be completed prior to move in. Magically, Reed started work just days after us closing on our new home. It all began with Julie taking notes as we described our ideas and chose materials in their comfortable showroom. Next came a very effective site visit, where Romain painted an incredible visionary picture for our primary bathroom remodel. In addition, all flooring was replaced with beautiful wood, the entire condominium was painted, new book shelves were built and the primary closet was updated. Recently, I was refurbishing a small indoor project and the interior designer I was working with suggested Reed Floors & Interiors for my floor covering. When she and I agreed on a natural woven carpet the installer used an adhesive on my walls as a base which made the esthetics appear hideous. Hence, when I laid my eyes on it via a text message photograph I instructed the installer to remove the adhesive and use a different rope style base as opposed to a molding. Once I returned home from work that evening, the installer did not remove the excess adhesive which when dried was a honey color on my newly painted white walls. Honestly, a true slop job! The following morning, I called Jennifer at Reed's and left a voice message conveying what had happened and I did not receive a call back. How disappointing and unprofessional! read more

My wife and I had been looking for high quality natural rugs at a good price for a couple of weeks, had checked out most of the local venues and online shopping sites, but couldn't find exactly what we were looking for. We're both artists and very fussy, so we knew this wouldn't be an easy task, unless we headed for LA or another big city. Then, last week, after stopping at a pottery shop on Santa Claus lane, we spotted these beautiful rugs in the window as we drove past. The owner, Romain, was kind, gracious and patient with us as we explored the collection, finally settling on a beautiful wool shag rug for the living room at a very reasonable price. I recently bought 4 beautiful custom expensive leather Italian chairs from Reeds. We love them. They required 100% down payment with a 2 month delivery date. The owner Romain was knowledgeable and polite. However, when they didn't call me after 10 weeks, it took 3 calls to get a revised delivery date out another month. After a total 3 months with no calls or delivery, it took me 3 more calls to get a revised delivery out 2 more weeks. When they finally arrived at their warehouse 3 1/2 months after paying in full, it took 3 visits to their showroom, and 3 more calls as they changed home delivery dates, twice leaving me waiting at home for them to show. They have communications problems to solve. I wouldn't order from them again. David read more

They were very responsive in coming out and getting measurements quickly (even though the rep was 30 mins late), but then I never received the quote. 2 weeks went by, when I finally reached out because we wanted to get going. When I finally got the quote, it was very affordable so we moved forward. Previously, when the rep came out to measure the space, she never mentioned anything about baseboards or transition between existing floors in other rooms and new floors. I do not work in the construction industry so these are two items, I didn't realized needed to be discussed. Another small thing, our quote stated "toilet removal only," which we knew we had to do, but when I asked her about the refrigerator and stove as well, I never received a response. We did it regardless. At this point the being late, me having to ask for the quote, the lack of information on the quote, was all just silly and I truly wasn't bothered. Day of install, the man they sent out for the job was great! He was very helpful and immediately asked me what we planned to do for baseboard and transition between the floor in the dining room and bedroom, with the new floor in the kitchen and bathroom. I had absolutely no clue, because the rep had never mentioned either of those items. This was when I started to become frustrated, because I don't know that those items needed to be asked about. Maybe I am an absolute idiot, but I assumed in hiring a flooring company, they'd help me understand all aspects of the job. I called her and she said she had planned to keep the baseboard in place. Realizing the man had already removed them, she told me that they would go ahead and take care of replacing them. I told her that we are happy to pay to have them replaced with new material, but I just wish it would have been discussed and included on the original quote. She said they'd take care of it. They did not. The floors look absolutely great, but they took quarter inch piece of wood (rather then a baseboard) and installed quarter inch around both rooms. Not only did it leave the whole base board removal exposed with glue residue, but the quarter inch they placed around the rooms were different colored pieces of wood. Some white, some a cherry wood, some darker. I assume the quarter inch materials were all just left over materials they had found from different jobs? I sent a picture to the rep and asked her if this was the final product and I never received a response. I never heard back until now, a month an a half later when she is asking for the second half of the payment. Since I never heard back, we actually ended up having to have Coast Supply Co. come in and replace the quarter inch with actual base board to match the wall color and floors. They were GREAT to work with, and I really wish we would have worked with them from the start. Our job was a tiny job, and I am assuming we weren't a big enough job cash wise, that she just really didn't care for customer service. I honestly was surprised through the whole process on the lack of information provided, the lack of response, the fact that I had to seek responses, seek the quote, information and even still I didn't receive all the pieces to the puzzle. Unless you have construction knowledge and know the questions to ask, I would not recommend using Reeds. I also wish, she would have said this tiny job is not a priority for us and just turned us elsewhere. It would have been a way better option then the awful experience we had. What should have been a 2 day job ended up being a 2 week job because of the removal and having to find another company come in and finish the job. I wish i could submit a photo with this review to show the final product of the exposed baseboard walls. read more

Reeds Interiors is the best! Two years ago we took out our carpeting, and put in hardwood floors in half the house, the other half we kept the travertine tile that was there. We are now redoing our Kitchen so decided to take out the existing tile and put in the same hardwood throughout the house. We ordered the wood from the company in Orange County, and when it arrived, the color was totally off. We returned it, and the same wood was sent a second time. I started to call places in Santa Barbara to see if anyone could help find the wood to match my two year old wood. No one could help us. Until...I talked to Jennifer at Reeds Interiors. She is VERY knowledgeable, and in 2 minutes of telling her the story, she knew exactly the problem. She was able to order the right wood and it came the next week. She had installers that were amazing, and did such a great job! They even made suggestions that we didn't know about, and enhanced the look even more! Beware. I hired this place to do huge tile job on my house in Carp a few years ago. The tile work in my kitchen was a simple all white, same size tile, subway layout. They hired a guy who didn't seem to be very experienced and the job was done sloppy. The tile was not laid level, was not cut correctly such that you can see gaps in between the tile and outlet covers, caulking was not done well, etc. When I pointed out the issues, they promised to come back and fix several things, but never did. Again, this was a few years ago so maybe they have improved now, but I'm still stuck with a bad tile job. People are often surprised to learn that I paid a professional - they assume that I did it myself. read more

We interviewed roughly 5-6 flooring companies when it came to refinishing the floors in our 110 year old house. No one had the passion that Romain, the owner, presented for our floors. He seemed genuinely excited to check out the job. Right away, we knew that would be part of our decision. We received a bid and did our due diligence with other companies. Reed Floors' bid came in right around the price as the others, beating a few. What set him apart was passion and quality. Other companies wanted to poly our whole floor and questioned what we were looking to accomplish. We had to place a different floor in our small laundry room. Romain suggested a material he had in stock that he was looking to move as it was just such a small area and we were price-conscious on this particular item. He gave us a great price and installation was included in the rest of our job. The crew was top-notch... experienced and personable. They were efficient and the results are stunning. Our floors don't look brand new. We didn't want them to. They fit the period our our house and we couldn't be more pleased. We were very anxious going into a complete kitchen remodel, that ultimately included flooring throughout the house, interior painting, new baseboards, and a new skylight. We had many, many questions with a very demanding expectation for perfection. Romain and his designers gave us impeccable "white glove" treatment every step of the way. From concept design to interior decorating ideas, Romain never disappointed. Their recommendations for colors, styles, appliances, and flooring were exactly to our taste. When we had changes in the middle of installation, Romain did not hesitate to "make it right," absorbing all additional incurred costs. Even after installation, again due to our demands for perfection, Romain--without hesitation--returned to the house to make a number of tweaks that we had requested. Again, this additional effort was absorbed by Romain. A special shout-out goes to Romain's cabinet and appliance installer...Nico! I wanted to write this review because everyone writes reviews when everything goes great - but how does a company respond when the wood I chose sends the wrong wood? Romain picked a great back up, ordered it that day and then sent someone down to pick it up in a truck and delivered it to my house. The installation started immediately and was in before Christmas. We were so happy to be able to celebrate in our home instead of rental and we like the back up wood better than the first choice! Romain went above and beyond for us - he over delivered. And the assistant at Reed, Melanie, was always so delightful and helpful. You see the true grit of people when things go wrong that are not their fault and this company really rose to the challenge with class. There are always obstacles in life and it's how we respond to them. The installation team was Top Notch - on time, hard working, smart and artisanal. The shop is beautiful with a large selection of beautiful woods and fabrics that are hard to find unless you drive to LA. My wife and I recently finished a low budget remodel of a fixer in SB. We paid market price for very few things. I gladly paid market price for my flooring. Romain's ability to understand our barely intelligible description of the look we were after and immediately present us with samples that were better than what we were picturing was a testament to his sense of style. Additionally the store carried samples of, and had the fastest access to what was in our opinion the perfect product for our house and yet when we researched pricing at other flooring companies they had never even heard of it. Lastly, not only is the inventory and design capability of the store superior, but their installation service is exceptional in process, materials used, layout design, and follow up service needs.
