Very disappointing experience from start to finish. I ordered what I believed was the same toilet I had previously purchased, but I was given very little detail or confirmation about the specific model. When we arrived to pick it up as promised, the store was closed for the holidays with no clear communication. After they reopened, we found out the toilet hadn't even been ordered yet. Unfortunately, we already had plumbers scheduled onsite for installation and had to pay them despite having nothing to install. Now, only a few weeks later, we've discovered the toilet is faulty. The business has offered no assistance beyond telling us to contact the manufacturer. Overall, the lack of communication, follow-through, and customer support has been extremely frustrating. I have an old bathtub that was leaking water. I called Rooter Solutions, and they sent a couple of guys out. They looked at the shower/tub and said that it was an off brand unit and the parts are not available. When I asked the cost to replace it, they quoted $1375... Hoping to save some money, I decided to do it myself. The first stop was Ace in Goleta. The guy there was confident in what I needed, and sold me a complete set... It didn't fit. I did what I should of done in the first place, go to a real plumbing store... I went to Economy Supply Company. They understood that I was not a professional, and took the time to make sure that I got the right parts. They sold me great quality supplies, and gave me some good tips so I had a better chance of not screwing it up! I changed the parts and all is good. Once again, I keep learning the same lesson. I've used these guys for parts for years and they have always been very helpful. About 18 months ago we embarked on a major bathroom remodel and used Economy Supply for everything plumbing-related, including beautiful new fixtures and a fancy Toto "washlet" toilet. Yes, their prices are slightly higher than what you might be able to buy stuff online (though in most cases they were very close) but trust me when I say that if you're spending this kind of money on plumbing fixtures, it is TOTALLY worth it to buy local from a company that backs up its sales the way Economy Supply does! I probably spent a few hundred bucks more versus buying piecemeal from a half dozen different online vendors. But, here are the benefits you should seriously think about: 1. Single point of contact for all your purchases - no worrying about which vendor is selling you which item (sinks, tubs, toilets, faucets, valves, tankless water heater, etc). 2. Actual HELP when making purchase decisions - there is a LOT of counterfeit JUNK plumbing stuff coming out of China these days, and it is really hard to tell the junk from the good stuff without a reputable and knowledgeable supplier. The people at Economy Supply can provide great advice about the quality of products at each price point, availability of repair parts, etc. 3. No worries about damage from shipping. Having stuff shipped UPS to your house is always taking a chance for damage or theft. Now imagine you have a $1,000 toilet being tossed into the back of a UPS van... If it arrives broken, YOU have to deal with sending it back, getting a new one sent, getting a refund, etc. With Economy Supply, you're buying local, so you know that they are assuming the risk of shipping. 4. Your money is staying local - you are helping people in OUR community to feed their families, make car payments, send their kids to college or whatever. And that money eventually goes to OTHER businesses in our community, so every $1 you spend locally really is like spending it 4 or 5 times in terms of economic benefit. 5. And finally, when you buy locally and have any sort of problem you can get in your car, drive across town and in 5 minutes be talking with the person face-to-face instead of sending emails, waiting on hold, or "chatting" online with some support rep in the Philippines. This is INVALUABLE when it comes to getting repair parts. If you think Economy Supply is "too expensive" relative to being able to buy online, reevaluate that to make sure you're considering the TOTAL cost of ownership and not just the "first cost" to acquire the item(s). I had a minor issue with a shower valve recently. I pulled it apart and brought it down. Within a couple of days, I had a replacement part (normally $120) sent to me directly from the manufacturer free of charge because Economy Supply stands behind the products they sell. If I'd bought it online, not only would I have not had any help identifying the replacement part, but I would have been out of pocket for the cost of it. Our gas water heater stopped heating and I thought I needed to replace the control valve box on the front of the unit. I spoke with TJ on the phone who confirmed he didn't have the part in stock - BUT he went on to walk me through a way to clean the tray and reset the unit for free. An 8-minute phone call cost me nothing, he earned nothing, but I had hot water again in a few minutes of work. Very much appreciated and I'll definitely shop there in the future! read more

I discovered Economy Supply Co. on Haley Street when I was looking for a hard to find part awhile back - I was in a pinch on a project one Saturday morning that couldn't wait until Monday. I called, they had the part I needed. I raced over before they closed. They were courteous, very knowledgeable, had the part I needed in stock at a reasonable price. I waited for years trying not to write this. I brought back almost $1000 worth of fixtures in the middle of a ridiculous remodel and the guy TJ had the receipt with the stuff to credit me back. He told me no problem and went I went back later he said he had "restocked" them- do I have the receipt? UH NO! you do. How can you just "restock" without crediting me back my money? You don't get to keep both. He said he'd "lost" the receipt. I told him I had a copy at home boxed up with all the remodel stuff and credit card bills but it would take a long time. Meanwhile I've stopped by several times and every time he admits he owes me money but never gives it back. As a show of good faith I even bought my tank-less water heater from them believing he would eventually make good. If any of you have a suggestion how to make this business return my money I am open to hearing. read more

It was a toss-up between a 4 and 5 star rating because their selection is on the small side, the vanity I badly wanted had been bought by someone else, and they couldn't get another one to me in time. Not their fault, really- but I decided on a 5 because everyone in there remembered me by name & face from my first time in there, made me feel almost like a 'member of the family', and because TJ in particular is a delight to work with. The entire staff is knowledgeable, friendly, greets you with a smile, and they carry premium quality products at reasonable prices. They were able to accommodate my tight schedule, except for one pesky small part that the distributor didn't get on the truck on time. There's such a nice energy in that store. TJ was so accommodating, even after the sale, sending me copies of the cleaning instructions for my new bathtub, which my 'helpful' friend had partially scrubbed off... using the WRONG product! Great company, great products, and they do their best to make sure you're kept well-informed as things progress. read more
