i bought a bike my first semester of college it was $150 for the bike i could probably buy at Walmart for $70 and after overpricing it bc they obviously saw me as a confused college student they even told me they could buy it back for a good price, my bike tire was stolen while i had covid and was stuck inside so i brought it back to sell and i told the man i didn't have the front tire which he said was fine and he told me he could only give me $30 and acted aggravated after he handed me the $30 and randomly asked for the tire i already informed him i didn't have the whole place is a scam dont try to buy or sell back to them you can literally go to walmart and get a cheaper bike and nicer service read more

Update: I spoke with Ryan, the owner. He says that used bikes are priced as they are because they are professionally tuned and upgraded (new inner tubes, as an example) and the bikes come with a one year warranty. Also told me that my son could exchange the bike if he wanted. read more

Over the past week I have gone to this store on three separate occasions in search of a cheap bike. The run down look of the store grabbed my attention, and screamed there could be some very cheap bikes within. On my second visit I actually found it to be a busy and well staffed store. However, on my first and third visits I saw a side of this store that others seem to be missing. For one, their prices are very high, and you can easily find a better bike for much cheaper at another shop in town. But the main reason I will not be returning to this store is the staff. As I said my second visit was great and I was helped by a gentleman that knew bikes as well as I do, and tried his hardest to get me to ride away in a new fixed gear. My other visits have been much less satisfactory. I was either not approached as I searched through this very oddly laid out store, or I was insulted by the staff member I asked for help. I have been riding and repairing bikes for over eight years now. As for the staff at this shop, their experience left much to be desired. They could not tell me anything about the bikes without making something up off the top of their heads, and when I finally called them out on their mistake, in a completely respectful tone, I was then insulted by the staff member saying, "You know nothing about bikes." I immediately laughed and left the store. I will certainly not be returning, and unless you enjoy staff members who don't even bother putting out their cigarette while they speak to you, and insult you, I would recommend staying away from this establishment and going to a real, helpful, and competent shop instead. read more

This place is great, my bike got a flat one day while at the U and they repaired it quickly while I was in class very inexpensive basically paid for the new tube and a few bucks for the labor; I think it was about $15. Fast forward 3 months and my bike is having a multitude of issues, needs a new tire, something on the frame was wacked, so I told them I was looking for a lighter framed road bike anyways. They do trade-ins, took my junk Walmart bike and got me a nice little single-speed road bike in less than an hour and a half. Rocky was the manager and was super helpful in the whole process, he let me test-ride a bike before they built mine and it rode like a dream in comparison! The mechanic was also super helpful as well though I don't remember his name! Overall I've very pleased with the shop every time I've been there! read more

RC is close to campus, but not quite as close as its competitor Fair Something Bicycles. We went to RC first because the Yelp feedback was resoundingly positive. My daughter is a freshman at UofA and needed a cruiser. RC had two models at slightly different price points, but both seemed reasonably priced to me. Jerry was super-helpful and explained the minor differences between the bikes. Jerry also did not freak out when I told him we needed to go over to Fair Something to look at a hot pink bike (a clor that RC did not carry). We were back a few minutes later, having decided the hot pink bike was not for her. Jerry welcomed us back with open arms and got my daughter the bike she wanted with all the accessories she needed (lock, basket, light, slime in tires). And he gave us a discount on the accessories! Everyone we talked to at RC was nice. It did not take long and the bike fits her well. Five stars for sure. read more

Brought my bike in for a flat rear tire. They said they fixed it so I put it in my car and took it home. Woke up the next day to ride it and the tire was flat. I didn't even ride it! Ended up having to fix it at another shop. They don't take the time to do things right read more

This place is a hidden gem! Near campus, right off 6th St, this little bike shack is a must stop for any students or residents near the area looking for any kind of bicycle need! Need a new bike?? They have a great selection of used and new for any kind of rider! But it's not just that, it's more customer service they have to offer. The staff is friendly and helpful as soon as you walk in. After living in Tucson for 3 years and taking my bikes to countless different bike stores, I finally found RC Bikes. I now refuse to take my bikes to any other shop. As a small, independent bike store, they truly appreciate every customer and it shows in their work. Chris is infinitely helpful with anything my bike needs and I can't emphasize enough how nice it is to have him remember my individual bikes. I went to another bike shop next to RC bicycles to get my son's flat tire fixed. I was refused service because the tire was leaking "fix a flat" fluid. The little man said, "I'm not touching that; you'll have to take it somewhere else", I marched over to RC bikes and their first response was, "NO PROBLEM". The tire was fixed in 10 minutes. Fantastic customer service. The mechanic was so friendly and Chris the owner was very helpful with my purchase of accessories. I told my son's to never go to the "other" shop and to tell all their friends to go to RC bikes instead. Very satisfied customer. read more

I don't get the high reviews for this shop. We reserved two bikes in advance and they rented out one of them just as we were walking in the door to pick ours up. So they had to make a quick change of plans and find another bike for us. Then, we were told to return by 5:30pm the next day. We showed up at 4:30 and nobody was around. Shop was locked up and there is no place to 'hide' the bikes so they won't get stolen. We had to bring the bikes to the better shop around the corner to return them. Oh yah, and we put our own pedals on our bikes; there is no customer service when renting here. read more

I am currently a Freshman at the U of A. I bought a bike right before school from another shop in Tucson and it cost about $300. About 2 weeks into school the bike was stolen. After waiting for my insurance check to come in I went to a bunch of bike shops trying to find another bike, but a cheaper one because I was a bit skeptical of spending that much money on one again. After visiting all these other shops I went to RC and finally just settled on spending the $300 on a fixie. About an hour after purchasing the bike, I was feeling buyers remorse and my mom finding a free bike from a friend, decided to take the bike back to save $300. The owner was completely understanding and refunded me the entire amount of the bike. I will most definitely be going to RC when I'm ready to spend money on a great, quality bike again. These guys are top notch and their customer service is second to none. I felt as though this review was the least I could do to repay them for me being such a hassle! The last two times I stopped by at this bike shop I was disrespected by the owner. After reading the reviews about this place, I had stopped by to get assistance with my bicycle. The support staff that work there are quite helpful and always do a great job. The previous time I stopped through the support staff offered a trade in, and the owner scoffed and rejected it in front of my face. This past time I stopped by and was looking for assistance on a wheel set issue. The support staff once again welcomed me in, but as the owner was walking out of the building with another bike for another customer he rudely told me to wait outside in the baking heat. I have been bike commuting in Tucson for about 10 years. I've left a lot of bike shops, biting my tongue because I know I was scammed. However, I've never once had that experience with RC Bikes. In fact, I often leave thrilled with my experience. They have always been honest and frank with me. I know how to do a lot of maintenance and repair work on my own bike. So, naturally, I find it irritating when I walk into a shop and the staff automatically treat me like I'm a woman who has no idea how a bike works or what's wrong with it. Again, I have not had that experience at this shop. The pricing is great, the staff are wonderful, they always seem to go above and beyond. I'd highly recommend them. read more

I have come here before for repairs and though they are relatively expensive they have done a satisfactory job in the past. Unfortunately this last experience has me deciding that I will never return. Not only did they misplace the dropout they had broken off my bike, they also still charged me full price for dismantling the bike, persuading me that the piece was unimportant. After heading over to a frame shop to get the dropout reattached, I was told it would cost an extra $25! I came back requesting a discount (to reassemble my bike) because of their mistake. Instead I was unsympathetically rebuffed and given a paltry $5 discount because of their mistake and quoted a price of $10 ($45 instead of $35) higher than they previous quoted. If you're looking for a dirty, pompous, relatively rude staff that attempts to take advantage of their customers in every way you've found the place. Will not be returning! read more

I usually go to Ordinary Bike Shop off 4th Ave, but I recently bought a bike from the guys at RC Bicycles during the April Bike Swap. I rode over to their shop recently to ask for help adjusting the bike seat and to get advice on some upgrades to the bike. They adjusted my seat, filled my tires up, didn't charge me anything and answered my questions. They did not try to upsell me on anything that day and gave me honest answers about what to buy, when to do so and about how much it would cost. The guys who helped me out were professional and courteous and honest about what I needed to for my bike. I Will definitely return again! read more

Chris is Amazing! As a U of A student, I have heard the old, "buy a cheap bike and an expensive lock" joke, but it really isn't a joke at all. In fact, my $30 lock is the only thing that kept my bike from being stolen (unfortunately not my seat though). Upon a failed attempt to steal my bike, it was seriously vandalized. I drug it across 6th st to RC Bicycles nearly in tears. Chris helped fix it under $50 in about an hour. That's what I call service! He was sympathetic to my situation and offered me alternatives like used products to help keep the costs down. The next day, my seat was stolen. I knew where to go this time. Chris got me a new seat, seat post, and lock for another very reasonable price. He honestly cares about the quality of the things that leave his shop and the well being of his customers. I hope I don't have to go back again, but if I do, at least I know I'll be treated fairly and with respect. read more

This place is horrible at customer service. The older employees are respectful, but the bike mechanics are rude, arrogant, and useless. I went in for help, and they continued to hang around and ignored me when they realized I wasn't going in to purchase anything. All they seem to care about is giving you the most expensive parts, service, and getting out as soon as possible. You are better off walking to Fair Wheel bicycles 50 feet away. read more
