I have been reading about this place for a long time, finally decided to give out a go. Pizza was good, not life changing, just good. Bread service was a bit overrated, it's bread and butter folks, don't get crazy. There was no draft beer when I went, don't know why, but they didn't have any which loses a star automatically. The service was excellent, no complaints there at all. I likes my pizza but for the price, I have to say one and done. We stopped by this Jersey City spot I'd been wanting to try and got a seat at the bar right at opening. Our waiter was a really nice guy! The vibe inside is stylish but fast-paced, not for long dinners. We ordered kale salad, meatballs, and a guanciale pizza--the salad was fresh and simple, so yummy! the meatballs was good, and the pizza absolutely amazing: light, thin, and full of flavor. I'm always looking for an artisan pizza spot but most do not live to the hype. I arrived here five minutes after it opened and there was a line to get in. When I got in the only available seats were bar seating. With out hesitation that is what I went with. Upon seating we were offered water and not long after we placed our orders. They do have beer and other alcoholic drinks there. While waiting I noticed that the place is dark but that gives the vibe for the place. One thing to note. At the bar seating area there is a lack of rails for you to put your feet on and the chairs also do not have a foot rest. This makes it really uncomfortable for anyone shorter than 6ft tall. I really hope they fix that. My SO had to sit on the edge to put her on the floor and another patron eventually stood while waiting for her food because she was in pain trying to tippy toe. Wow. I understand why folks rave about this place. I was visiting from out of town and my friends, who are locals, took me there. It did not disappoint. The high ceilings made for an airy feel and you didn't have to strain to speak, even on a crowded night. The pizza was truly delicious, with a light crust that holds up well. Their bread is spectacular. It is wonderfully crust on the outside and so moist and chewy on the inside with a just a hint of sourdough tart. My only slight is that the apps are definitely on the small side, but I guess the leaves more room for pizza. read more

We love the service and wait staff, very friendly! Coming from New York it's hard to find decent brick oven pizza but this spot serves up a pie with a smokey crust and savory flavor that hits home! There could be a little more cheese on the pies but the sauce is just sweet enough that compliments the whole pizza. I wanted so badly to love this place when we finally dined in person but unfortunately it didn't blow me away. Don't get me wrong, it's still delicious pizza. But I still stand by my previous review that I'm not sure it's THE BEST pizza ever. Knocking one star down for the price - 4 pizzas and meatballs cost $147 including tax and tip which is pretty steep in my opinion. The meatballs are honestly the real star here. My favorite pizza was the Santo then the burrata which tasted very fresh and like it had high quality ingredients. The Funghi was good but could have used more salt and I was underwhelmed by the Calabrese. The service was fantastic though. They have a nice waiting area in the front with counter space and hooks. Waited around 1 hr for a seat on Saturday. Got 4 pizzas to share, but the guancia and funghi stood out to me most. All in all, great pizza, but I prefer a less crispy and less burnt crust. Worth extending my lunch time to 3pm (they're only open 3pm-9/10 on weekends) Odd timings but I see why the Barstools guy gave it a 8.1! --Apple salad- didn't think I needed or wanted a salad on a pizza date but man was I wrong! Such a good starter/side for the pizza. Fresh apples, candied walnuts, ricotta..perfect combo! A lot of the salads sounded good actually and Im not the salad type. I def want to try the meatballs next time and even the bread looked so good. --Jersey girl margherita- classic marg but with branded mozzarella...decent but keep in mind its sweeter than your usual pizza so I personally didn't love it. . --Santo- delicious combo of chili oil and sausage! 10/10 must have! I gotta try the classic cheese pie and the Calabrese next time!! -- salted caramel panna cotta- soooo good. the top caramel layer is perfect for those who love extra sweet things and the rest is just right. not too sweet either but just perfect when combined. A major highlight has to be our server. He was so friendly- always had a smile on, so knowledgeable- gave us great descriptions even without us having to dig for them, so attentive- he came by numerous times to see how we were doing. TIP: Don't sit in the booth next to the window! There are little ants that hang around the plants and come onto the table/booth too. Not crazy fire ants but still. the pizza was pretty good, my favs were the burrata and the fungi, which both had more flavor profile compared to the pepperoni and the calabrese. the pepperoni pie was pretty good but in the opinion of my table, it could've used something like maybe hot honey or some kinda other element to make it truly stand out. it was just an average pepperoni pizza. the calabrese was just ok, it kinda only tasted like buffalo sauce and the cheese was not very flavorful. overall, i did like the burrata and the fungi but i wasn't particularly impressed with the calabrese or the pepperoni. the price is pretty average for a slightly more upscale pizza joint like this so i can't complain too much about it but i do still think it's a bit overpriced. read more

This spot was absolutely worth the trek to NJ from Manhattan for amazingly fresh and truly unique pies. Came here on a Tuesday night for a quick dinner with a visiting friend who was staying by the airport. The place was slammed with a pie or multiple pies on every table so of course we wanted to try everything. We started with the bread (house baguette & sourdough) with a trio of tasting butters. You know a place is good when just the bread and butter is unlike anywhere else. We each got our own pies so we could try more flavors. We got the santo, corn pie, and funghi. All were absolutely delicious in their own way but my absolute favorite was the corn pie. The sweet and savory combination elevated by the spice of chili oil was an explosion with every bite. We made our reservation 30 days in advance because this place is very hard to get into. When we arrived, we were impressed that our reservation was immediately honored with none of the "you're lucky to be here" attitude other places with this type of buzz often have. After being seated, our waiter Chris came over with our menus and water for the table. We asked questions, and he gave very knowledgeable answers and recommendations. For our party of four, we split two appetizers, including an order of six meatballs which were outstanding, and came with a generous dollop of whipped ricotta on the top. The 12" artisans pizzas include classics, such as margarita and pepperoni, along with a rotating assortment based on seasonality and available ingredients. On our waiter's recommendation we ordered the Calabrese which is a white pizza with fresh mozzarella, ricotta, onions, and fermented chili paste which was AMAZING -- so tasty, with just the right touch of heat, and the crust was crispy and delicious. For our second pizza, we went old school with a classic pepperoni, featuring a generous amount of sliced pepperoni which turned into "little cups of love" in the cooking process, holding in the tasty oil within their curved wells. Great beer, wine, and cocktail selection, including a cappelletti spritz which was as good as being in Italy. To top it off, we ordered a shared dessert and even that exceeded expectations. The owner Dan, came out and we spoke with him and he shared that he has visited Italy over 30 times, including one specific time he classified as "the best day of his life." One of my favorite pizza places in Jersey City. Went there for the second time and I was even more excited to try their other flavors. Ordered the Caprese, mozzarella and Pepperoni for the table. These pizzas were handmade thin crust 12 inches and it has 6 slices. Perfect shareable size. Also tried their hibiscus fruit punch and it was great. It has no alcohol. The waiter was also nice who explained to us the different options for the Pizza. We went on a Saturday for dinner and there was no reservation but some wait time which was no longer than 5 minutes. The mascarpone came through beautifully and I did not taste the whipping cream essence I often get at other places. Subtle and a great finisher. Prompt and kind service. The first half of the restaurant looked prettier with the dimly lit setup, than where we were seated - which was brighter with a half-hearted bar on the corner. Friendly staff. Greeted right when you walk in. We came on late, just before closing to pick up take out. Inside looks simple, clean and modern. Easily one of the best pizzas I've had. Better than most good spots in NY. We got the Margherita and Pepperoni. Both were light, not super cheesy or oily (so didn't make the bottom soggy), the pepperoni in most places are very salty. But this was not. The crust was perfect, not too thin, slightly chewy and crunchy. The dough was not inches thick like a lot of places. But wouldn't call it thin crust either. Be there early, if you are about 10th in line you miss the inside seating (40 seats I was told) But honestly, as we were 11th as party of 3, we enjoyed sitting outside on the first day of September. Pizza was good. Pretty normal. Crust was normal, the variety of toppings was nice, in an Italian sort of way. Salads are very small. Maybe that is true to the type of cuisine. Staff is friendly but reserved. Pizza is tasty but you are overpaying for the vibe I guess, again we were outside. $80 for 2 pizzas and a salad. We had an amazing experience at Razza! Saturday mid afternoon, they were able to squeeze my wife and I in with our one year old. High chair ready to go by the time we got to the table - off to a good start. The pizzas were great as expected - we got the pepperoni and calabrese, delicious, as we hoped for a pizza place with this much cred would deliver. While we'd come back for the pizza any time, the real win was the waitstaff. Our daughter was in the mood to wave and say hi to everyone, to which each and every member of the staff smiled, waved back, interacted and truly made it a fun, memorable experience for all of us. The best pizza I've had in a long time. It was thin and crispy with the right amount of char. Ordered the Santos and the Margherita. Highly recommend both. The Santos has more flavor due to the hot chili sauce but it is not overpowering. Service was fast and efficient. In and out in about an hour. Server was friendly too.
