I opted to make a quick visit here to see if I could get one of the remaining options. For parking I went with the North Garage, by C level the spaces were opening up. The Apple Store was easy to spot/find. Windows donned MacBook Neo artwork in various colors on the front and back of the store. I went in the front entrance and found the laptops on display area. Hopeful they still had some MacBook Neo in stock, when prompted, I asked a worker if they had any 256 GB left. They were down to indigo and silver color options. Lucky for me as my favorite metal is silver. The worker was friendly and professional in helping me through the purchasing process and I was soon on my way with a laptop.

The older gentleman working there got extremely defensive when it was brought up, like it was a personal attack against his loved one or something. Can't recommend this store at all because of that unfortunately, unprofessional and very disturbing.

About two weeks ago, my favorite K-pop group, LE SSERAFIM, was in town and during the encore, they came out in full UW gear. After researching, I found out that the gear was from University Book Store. I really wanted to buy the hat that Chaewon wore and was able to find and buy one there. It was a University Book Store exclusive printed/embroidered on '47 brand Hat. There is a reason I am telling this story though! While I was there, I looked around and see what kind of merchandises they were selling and I noticed that they have done collaboration with quality brands such as Lululemon, Champion (reverse Weave), Adidas, '47 Brand, New Era, etc. Clearly, whoever is in charge of designing the fan gear here knows what they are doing. They also had a clearance section upstairs with items marked down up to 50%. If you're a current UW student or UW Alumni and haven't been here in recent years like me, I highly recommend checking it out. Check out my photos of all the UW gears that LE SSERAFIM members wore during the concert.

I've also noticed that books are arranged similarly to Barnes & Noble. I've been told that the books are carefully arranged and sorted via subcontracted by Barnes & Noble, so if you're interested in that, this is definitely the place for you. The prices are a bit high, but they do go back into student support and activities, so it's a good investment. Also, there is a 20% discount or specific dates and timelines along with promotionals for students. but I don't think that these discounts apply to text books. I definitely recommend a university bookstore.

I've had a change to chat with security staff at the front and some, former military are super caring and kind. I feel super safe around northgate. Given the fentanyl and crime rate in the area this extra level of safety reassures me. The store is always clean and well displayed and the staff are knowledgeable. I think this store attracts a specific personality type and I noticed that some staff focus more on the specs of an item rather than focusing on the customer. It's hit or miss. Having come from sales and the service industry, I think that the emotional iq aspect could improve. I'm not giving this location a bad rating. I hope that my feedback can serve as a learning opportunity if you want. For example, I often have to find an associate to find something if there isn't one at the front by security. Sometimes, the staff will speak as if I am knowledgeable about tech and I hope the staff person can ask me what my knowledge of tech is first before processing. Value is fine. The Best Buy regional number gave misadvised me and I the staff seemed clueless at this location. I still like shopping here and they randomly have a good selection of toys.

Based on my recent experience with Best Buy, I foresee that coming. I intended to purchase a Bose Smart Soundbar at the Northgate Seattle Best Buy. I called Best Buy, only to be connected to a completely frustrating and useless AI assistant. It took several requests by me, and several unrelated responses by AI, to finally speak with a human being. I asked that human if a particular model of the sound bar was available, on display, and set up for listening before making a purchase at the store. I was assured that the store had the sound bar set up. I asked the customer "service" representative if she was absolutely certain because I didn't want to drive 15 miles to get there and find out the product wasn't available or set up for demonstration. I was assured it was. When I got to the Northgate Best Buy I found that there wasn't a display model set up. The model in which I was interested was sitting in box on the shelf. I asked the sales person how difficult the item was to set up. "Really easy!" I asked if it could be set up so that I could listen to it before purchasing. The answer was "no." I was encouraged by the manager to buy one of several other models that were set up. When I explained that I was told by customer "service" that the sound bar WAS set up for demo, the in-store staff told me the call center has NO connection whatsoever to the stores. When I asked if the store had a direct number I could call in the future I was told "no." There's only the call center. That would explain why the call center rep sounded like she was based in India. The lack of customer support is appalling. The inability to speak with a store employee by phone is equally appalling. I decided to purchase the sound bar I want from another retailer on line. If Best Buy believes that its customers don't need customer service, then the retail chain doesn't need my business.

I wanted to get an extra wireless keyboard and mouse so I could have one at work and one at home and wouldn't have to carry them around. I asked about them in the store and was led to a plastic box that was filled with identical wireless keyboard mouse combos. I picked one out and asked where the chip was. This should have tipped off the clerk that I was not tech savvy. As I suspect many of there customers are not. She told me the toggle was under the mouse. I got the set home and did not see a toggle under the mouse (latter I found out she was saying dongle). I looked in the battery chambers of both the keyboard and mouse and did not see it. I called the them and was told to check the battery chambers of both the keyboard and mouse and once again I didn't see it. I was told that this would be a once in a lifetime that a chip was not with the keyboard. I brought the unit in and we looked in the keyboard battery area next. Then we looked we looked at the mouse and they pointed out a built in dongle compartment in the battery chamber of the mouse. I was never told there could be a built in compartment when I was in the store or later on the phone. I have since find some YouTube videos that explain where to find the dongle. This tells me I'm not that only one to have trouble finding it.

Now I…read moredon't need to pay 2 arms and 2 legs for a new laptop in the middle of the 2026 rampocalypse. Daniel was able to replace a dead, swollen battery and a bad speaker, at a price which I considered reasonable, and with amazing speed (considering that those items are glued into the top case of the laptop). He told me which day he would be able to start the work, and arranged with me to bring it back in on that day. The work was completed exactly as promised, and I had it back in my hands before I even missed it. He also gave me some excellent advice. For example, this laptop has the famously flaky "butterfly" keyboard and it was typing double-letters. He was very clear, before starting the work, that the job to replace the keyboard was difficult and risky (again, because it's glued into the top case). It's hard to source a good keyboard, and might result in a keyboard that would just go flaky again. So he just stuck with the agreed-upon battery and speaker fixes. (Later, it turns out that I was able to replace the individual flaky key switches myself without having to remove the keyboard at all.) His most valuable advice was to teach me about the existence of a third-party tool ("OCLP") which would allow me to install OS 13 onto the laptop even though Apple only allows OS 12 on it. After getting the laptop back from the battery replacement, I tried it, and it's working great on OS 13 now. This was important and well-timed advice, because Chrome is going to stop releasing updates for OS 12 this month. And while I was in the shop talking to him, he was multitasking and helping other customers, too. He matter-of-factly fixed a bad audio driver on one lady's Windows laptop as they stood there at the counter. I'm very impressed and satisfied with the work. It's like having a new laptop again. So if you need your laptop repaired, definitiely bring it in and have him give you an estimate. I wish I had done it sooner.
