We had never really tried Italian food at a restaurant and this has absolutely just blown our minds! It's so good. We started off with a Caesar salad, which was tossed perfectly and Caesar dressing topped off with some pepper. Great salad great taste. And then we had the fried calamari with its sauce and its lemon, which was also extremely good. Loved how authentic it tasted and wasn't overly coated in flour. For our entrée we had a fettuccine shrimp Alfredo, which was very good. It was by far one of the best Alfredos we have ever had truly set the bar. The shrimp and noodles were cooked to perfection. For the star of the night had to be the lobster risotto. First time trying, and I was absolutely blown away of how delicious it tasted. And how awesome the presentation looked. And how much lobster was in the risotto. Absolutely a must try * only served weekends*. The birthday dessert was a tiramisu, which was really good. First off, this place is in a beautiful area. I was with 2 of my buddies but this place was the percect date night vibe. The scenary was very soft and "southern". My server was extremely polite and attentive, along with knowledgeable. She didn't have the answer to one question I had, so like any good server, she found out immediately. The bus boy/ runner was also extremely attentive. Actively clearing plates and assisting my friends and I. I started off with the ceaser, which was delicious. We shared the meatballs, amazing. Along with the calamari and grilled octopus. Everything was fresh and was served to us quickly. We ordered a pizza to split, the margarita to be exact, and let me tell you it was life changing especially when you are a little buzzed. That may have enhanced my experience a little more. For my entree I chose the vodka pasta, it was one of the best meals I've had in my entire life. The only downside to this place is how pricy it can be, but like all nice places you have to be prepared to spend a lot. Despite that, I recommend this place to everyone. The arancini were the best I've ever had with the perfect amount of crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. We opted for a surf and turf vibe with the New York strip steak and chile shrimp. The steak had great flavor but the shrimp...WOW, so freaking good. I'm still dreaming about the pasta with the shrimp. They were the most perfectly cooked and seasoned noodles ever. Will literally be going back for this alone. For dessert we tried the tiramisu and flourless chocolate torte. The tiramisu was creamy but lacked a stronger coffee taste that I prefer. The torte was my favorite of the two. You would almost not be able to tell it's flourless, just as creamy and delicious as you would want! We also tried a cocktail that was their version of a lemon drop. It tasted like fresh lemon but not as sour as I prefer a lemon drop to be. Still smooth and delicious!

I've always enjoyed Ray's pizza but after today's visit I won't be coming back. The people making pizza and collecting payments were not wearing masks. By wearing a mask they're not only following Scottsdale law, but they're showing respect for the health and well being of its customers. If Ray's doesn't care enough about me to wear a simple mask then why should I entrust them to feed my family. Good bye Ray As a reply to ownership - I offer the following. Please don't ask me to tell you if your employees are following the law and practicing safe workplace rules. Please don't ask me to correct your employees either. I treated your employees with respect even when that respect wasn't returned. I think you're missing my point entirely. Do you have a signage in your entry area stating masks are required? What would your policy be if a customer walked in without a mask? Did you install any plexi-glass to help protect your employees and customers? Do you have any physical distancing rules in your pick up area? Since it's so hot in your kitchen, and it might be difficult for your employees to wear masks - do you offer curb side pick? The visible answers are absolutely not too all. We frequent our favorite places for take out to help keep our local economy going. Your fellow restaurant owners are doing far more than you. I'm happy you read my review and I was hoping your response would be specific about improvements you plan to make to keep your employees , customers and community safe. With cases surging we all need to be vigilant and avoid places that represent high risk of spreading the virus. Ray's is not a safe place, and you have the ability to fix that. The question is... will you? read more

I am not easily impressed with pizza -- it has to be exceptional. I am from Italy and Ray's Pizza meets the "exceptional" level for me. The sausage topping is not traditional chunky (which I don't mind). It is a thin sliced sausage and the flavor is perfect. They are not stingy with the toppings. I usually get a sausage slice and have them add the sausage on top. The Sicilian thick crust is great. Their sauce has a very pure Italian flavor; not too heavy on the spices, just real, and just perfect. The crust is buttery crunchy. On this one, I usually get just cheese (no extra toppings). It holds its own just as it is. They have slices waiting with a variety of toppings so if you're in a hurry, you just pick a slice or two and they slip it into the oven. Comes out fresh and hot. If we have enough people, we order a full pie (or 2 or 3) and boy, when these are right out of the oven, I'ma tellin' you! I appreciate the staff who is always friendly, owner even speaks to me in Italian to make it a little more like home. I could not recommend this pizza more. It's not a fancy place, it's a pizza joint, the way it should be. Don't expect frills, but do expect exceptional pizza. read more

I've been to Ray's multiple times now, and it has easily become my favorite pizza place in Scottsdale. Every time I come back, I'm reminded why I like it so much. It has that classic mom-and-pop pizza shop feeling that's getting harder to find. Walking in almost feels like stepping back into the 90s--in the best possible way. Nothing overly fancy or corporate, just a comfortable neighborhood spot with great pizza and a lot of character. The food has consistently been great, the people are friendly, and it's one of those places I genuinely enjoy coming back to. Definitely deserves more love than the rating suggests! read more
