It's one thing to get photo updates -- and texts about her generous poops and farts -- but another thing entirely to actually hold and entertain her. Unfortunately, the delta variant delayed our "IRL" meet for many months. But when things finally died down, I met up with Meg R. at Village Green. Decor is swanky but not oppressively so, with a clientele that's older but not geriatric. It's BYOB, which probably does wonders for the liquor store across the street. If I were a restaurant owner, I might open a shop just to collect money I lost from the liquor license racket.* We had duck crepe, meatballs, and the short rib. I recommend them all, especially the duck crepe. Staff were super chill and helped us accommodate a no-res walk-in. Adelyn was great and seemed to really enjoy 1-2-3-4-5-6 in Mandarin, along with being lifted up and down like a rocket ship. No "stranger danger" stuff that you sometimes get with babies. * I'm a social democrat, and this isn't meant to be some libertarian swipe. But licensing often isn't about protecting the consumer but conferring advantage in state-constricted markets. It also compounds the struggles of running a restaurant, already a low margin business that often depends on alcohol revenue.

The prices we were charged appeared to be roughly **20% higher than the prices listed on the restaurant's official online menu at the time. If menu prices have changed, we would expect the online menu to be updated accordingly Overall, the meal did not live up to expectations, particularly given the prices. Hopefully the restaurant will improve the food and keep its online menu pricing consistent with what customers are actually charged.

I felt compelled to sign up on yelp so that I could include my experience at Raymonds. When my family arrived at the door for brunch at 10a.m-no stroller, but young kids, we were promptly and pleasantly greeted. Sat at our table and received a warm and genuine "Welcome to Raymonds" from our waitress. It was our first visit and our waitress suggested we try the French Toast as an appetizer while we read the menu, we were hesitant, we never had an app for breakfast but she was so confident that we would enjoy it that we agreed. Wow-best idea ever for breakfast! She continued to take us thru a virtual tour of the menu, my husband and I have since tried dishes we never had before, huevos rancheros, eggs in brioche, Norwegian eggs benedict-all so delicious. We find ourselves thinking about our next dish with excitement. She even bought the chef to our table, so we could thank him for the great food. It's fun knowing the inside stuff about where your eating. She told us that beneath the restaurant is a state-of-the-art prep kitchen, where the potatoes are peeled and cut, the meat for the burgers is ground fresh and where the seafood arrives fresh and is cleaned and prepared. According to Nancy, our waitress, the only thing frozen at Raymonds are the ice cubes, they even make their own ice cream! They get fresh eggs from Sussex and real maple syrup from Vermont. We have come to look forward to not only the food at Raymonds, but also the warm welcoming service. When we leave, we feel not only well fed, but also energized, the food, service and ambiance are impeccable. And as for the noise, as Nancy says feel free to have a personal conversation, because no-one will be able to eavesdrop. LOL. Love, love, love it there! Looking forward to date night with hubby, he is already trying to decide which to try first; the BBQ short ribs and cheesy grits on or the steak frites, def the mussels and garlic shrimp apps! It's great having such a nice place to go for breakfast, lunch and dinner right in our own town! Last night was a "daddy dinner night" so I took my 2 and 4 year old out to Ridgewood. Had never been to Raymond's for dinner and decided to go. We walked right in and got a table by the window (it was a beautiful night) and started to unwind. Our server Kat was great with the kids and Nancy (believe the manager) came right over to greet us and give the kids crayons and temporary tattoos to play with while we waited for our food. Bread and butter came out quickly which helped because the kids were restless. I got the mussels to start (photo attached) and finished with the fish tacos which were very good as well. My son got a hot dog and my daughter got pasta and tomato sauce. Kat was very attentive through the process and made sure we had everything we needed...and she could tell I don't take the kids out to dinner alone all that much and made sure they were happy with their food. They were...so was daddy. It turned out to be a very nice evening with the kids that went off without a hitch and will definitely be hitting up Raymond's again for dinner. I give eating at Raymond's a three star only because I don't eat meat and mostly everything on the menu was for meat-eaters. I know I can go to another restaurant for vegan options but I really wanted to try out Raymond's only because the place looks gorgeous and you can choose to eat outside under the beautiful weather. I do love the coffee's and teas that they offered, I am actually thinking going back just to try them all! Anyways, I do hope that Raymond's update their menu with newer food options for vegans, I would so love it if that happens. A place where it not only satisfies meat-eaters but also non-meat eaters!! We are in a time where people are appreciating and sharing differences with others. Well, I hope that next time I go perhaps they'll have more options !!! Tried it a few times wasn't blown away but will def not be returning after last experience. Ordered 2 Raymond Chopped Salads and to my surprise rang up to $35. Whatever it's expensive but I'm hungry but then the waitress comes out to say they have to charge me an additional $10 because I requested them to grill the chicken instead of the way described on the menu which had the consistency of some kind of pulled boiled chicken. Wasn't aware it costs more to cook chicken a different way. Not to mention I asked for the salads without the boiled egg and avocado which is why they think they can mark up the salad in the first place. It got even better when I got home and noticed the chicken was raw inside. I don't mind paying for a good meal but it's really upsetting when you feel outright robbed at $50 for 2 salads. read more

Visited Ridgwood downtown along with some friends this morning, after nice walk at Ridgewooddowntown, we were trying to find breakfast/lunch place and see this place, we entered and our waiter set us on table, asked for windows side but they didnt make arrangement even though we saw couple of places available. Then we started ordering food, ordered veggie burger, omelets and Cappuccino, we loved food but it took some to come. Its little price compare to quantity available however will come again soon to try different varieties. A great........... place to grab a bite of brunch and a huge cappuccino and enjoy the sidewalk seating and people watching. Start with a Frisbee sized "large" cappuccino .........while you peruse the brunch menu. The eggs and grits are like a delicious nacho stew with locally sourced organic eggs and fantastic chorizo. The omelets are also a highlight. I .....don't know how they make their eggs, but they come out like a smooth blanket. I highly suggest the goat cheese as a topping. Went there for brunch today with my boyfriend and had a good experience. We both got pancakes, I got mine with chocolate chips- it was fluffy and enough chocolate chips for the chocolate fix I was in need of. The coffee is also really good there - coffee shop level good. The only thing we didn't like is they sat a table of 3 that walked right in meanwhile we were waiting for a table along with a line of people for 25 minutes. Won't be returning here anymore. Used to come here often but visited this morning and was very disappointed in the service. Tried to order an egg sandwich on an English muffin (my usual pick) and was told that they are no longer allowed to offer that and that I would have to order the 2 eggs any style entree with home fries and then assemble the sandwich myself. This place reminds me of a New York style bistro, except it's right on a corner in Ridgewood! We eat here a lot, because of the great food and variety. The Sunday brunch menu is great! Get the eggs and grits - it's got a Mexican flair. The French Toast is pretty unique too, and goes well with their coffee. The only positive was that the wait wasn't long and we were seated quickly. After that, things went downhill. We spent a long time waiting for our server to come to the table, and once we placed our order, it took a long time for the food to arrive. Our server never came back to check on us, so we never had the opportunity to ask for bread or water refills. We eventually had to ask another waitress for assistance. Throughout the meal, glasses were constantly being dropped, and the staff seemed stressed and disorganized. To make matters worse, our appetizers were never entered into the system, so our entrees arrived first. The appetizers came later, after we had already started eating. My entrée was prepared incorrectly, our appetizer order was also wrong, and we were even brought an item we never ordered. Our drinks were mixed up with another table's as well. Overall, the service was extremely disappointing, and the experience was frustrating from beginning to end. We won't be returning.

I'm so glad I did. The food was excellent, the staff was attentive and friendly, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable. It has that classic old-school diner feel that's getting harder and harder to find these days. The setup is unique too--there's a convenience store in the front and the diner tucked behind it. It's an interesting combination that somehow just works. If you're looking for a no-frills spot with great food, great service, and great value, don't overlook this place like I did. I'll definitely be back.

I altered the Bacon Cheeseburger Deluxe by substituting home fries for French fries, adding an over easy egg to the burger, and holding the lettuce and tomato. The kaiser roll held everything in place and the hot sauce was the perfect supplement to the breakfast burger. The home fries were cooked well done, which is exactly how I like them. Our daughter graduated with her Masters and we were hosting a full day long party. Chris guided us with both lunch and dinner for 25 adults ( some BIG eaters). Not only was it delivered but the presentation and the food was scrumptious! These young adults ate lunch and dinner till their hearts were content, some even asked to take food home lmao.
