I've been to Raspoutine twice now, and the difference between the two visits was pretty clear. The first time was a great experience good energy, a balanced crowd, and an overall fun night. That's why I decided to come back. The second time, though, was just okay. The entire second floor was closed off, and honestly it made sense because the place wasn't very busy, especially for a Friday night. If they had opened it, the venue would've looked completely empty. Downstairs was mainly groups of men a lot of Middle Eastern guys dominating the crowd which made the vibe feel totally different from my first visit. The bottle prices felt overpriced, no option for food or snacks. The DJ that night was pretty mediocre (maybe just the rotation), and it was super hot inside, which made it uncomfortable. We still made the best of it, but compared to the first visit, the second one really missed the mark. I don't think I'd go back.

This used to be a classy place with a great security and face control handled by Patrick. Tonight, this girl name masha let literally every guy in and made lots of trouble for ladies, I was in all blue and had my Manolo Blahnik sandals and omg! She reasoned not letting me in because of my flip flops!!! Please! Alexander and my beloved French society in LA.. help the sanity of this place and throw this girl away!

This place has a really unpleasant vibe. The staff acted in a racist and discriminatory way toward me/our group, which is completely unacceptable. It doesn't matter how nice a bar looks if the service treats people differently based on their appearance or background. No one should feel uncomfortable or singled out here. Truly disappointing experience.

Most rude club experience I have ever had. Would not recommend. I thought we left toxic club culture back in the early 2000's.

We had reservations for a Sunday night and were seated at the best table in the house. This speakeasy cocktail lounge is small & dimly lit, which creates a cozy & intimate atmosphere. The Polynesian inspired décor is on point. Bamboo beaded curtains, thatched lamps, tropical prints, & an eight-foot tiki statue add to the charm. Our server Sean was fantastic with a capital F! He entertained us the entire evening. Of course, Tiki cocktails served in kitschy glassware are the main attraction but they also offer Island inspired dishes if you are hungry. (You can also order food from Tail O' The Pup downstairs.) The building was once the recording studio for The Doors, so we had to order The Ghost of Jim Morrison. Sean delivered the flaming drink while singing a Doors tune. Elvis in Hawaii arrived on a platter with an Elvis head on it. Lucky Tiki Old Fashioned was presented in a treasure chest with smoke coming out of it. The Flying Fish came in a cool Blowfish vessel. The Lucky Mai Tai was one of the best, the Classic Daiquiri was nicely balanced, and the Rum Barrel packed a punch. All the drinks were tasty and strong so we ordered a few nibbles: Coconut Shrimp, Lucky Orange Chicken, & Wok-Fried Chow Mein. The food was yummy and hit the spot. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the presentation of the drinks and ambience. Thank you Sean for making our visit to Lucky Tiki a 5-star experience. *Metered street parking.

I love a tiki bar (usually a wine drinker, but a dry martini or a good tiki drink, will speak to me at times!) and this place does not disappoint. Service is easy and the vibes are so fun. They have fun gimmicky drinks (Captain's Inner Circle!) and the old stand bys (exceptional Mai Thai.) The decor is also so fun (Jim Morrison's old studio) and you can order hot dogs from downstairs. Only reason they aren't 5 stars? They implement seating time limits, even when it's not super busy. I 100% understand they have to have turnover, but I would gladly pay a little extra, to hold a longer reservation! Street parking, but don't drive...get a driver or a Waymo!

Since I never watch that kind of 'stuff', that connection meant nothing to me. However, now that it's been sold to the purveyors of a successful Venice bar lounge, Roosterfish moved up quickly on our gaydar for a visit during PRIDE weekend. It was upbeat and loud but surprisingly not off-putting. That has a lot to do with the century-old Mediterranean olive trees in the massive open-air courtyard in the middle. Even wrapped in colorful fairy lights, the trees breathe life into the space even with a huge disco ball hanging from the canopy. The dance floor was fairly crowded and pulsating like crazy, but the surrounding tables weren't as coveted. There were plenty of bartenders during PRIDE, so there was no wait for drink orders. The Tequila Sunrises were on the high side at $20 given the plastic cups (Photo), but they gave us the requisite kick. We easily found a place to sit on the shaded outdoor dining area, all the time people were going inside the adjacent dining and dancing area for one of the Abbey's famous drag shows. I ordered the guacamole bacon cheeseburger with fries and my guest had the Philly Cheesesteak. My burger was cooked perfectly and looked great. The fries were fair, nothing to write home about. My guest loved his Philly Cheesesteak and it brought memories of the last time he ordered one more than a decade earlier. It's only fair that I mention the conduct of one of thr employees who appears to be a host. There was an ethnic couple (probably middle eastern) siting at the table next to us, dining and enjoying their meal, when this employee approached them and singled them out because of their ethnicity. He fawned all over them, loudly, apparently trying to be welcoming, all the while addressing them as "you people" and "we are open to people like you dropping in for a gold time." While he clearly wanted to be nice, he came off as condescending and racists and was very annoying to my guest and me and people at another table who muttered "what an idiot." On the positive sign the middle eastern couple didn't appear to be annoyed but, still, that's not the way first time guests should be addressed. We dropped in on the drag show after lunch but all seats were taken so we decided not to stand in the corner and watch. Getting smart, especially a good seat means arriving about an hour before the show. Today's show began at 1:30 pm. There are nearby parking lots, pricy and neighborhood parking if one can tolerate a moderate walk. The Abbey is an ice place to go, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Dining is pretty good and their menu is not big. But they still have a nice variety of dishes.

Unfortunately, the bartender was rude and dismissive, so I chose not to leave a tip. I closed my tab immediately, signed the receipt, left the tip line blank, and kept both copies of the receipt. My Cash App card was originally charged $15 that night, but the following day the transaction changed to $16. I did not authorize an additional $1 tip or charge. It's only a dollar, but that isn't the point. Customers should be able to trust that the amount they authorize on a receipt is the amount they are actually charged. Between the bartender's attitude and the unexplained additional charge, this was a very disappointing experience. I've kept my receipts and will be disputing the difference if it isn't corrected.
