Game Depot is the local hub for culture records. They have all sorts of niche paraphernalia from…read morethe 50s onward, with a focus on console games and media. Here's the thing, though: museums like to place very-well-known cultural artifacts wide out in the open and secured, so anybody knows it's worth it. But that won't happen to you in a cultural goldmine in Game Depot, and that's because you have to know who wants what, and that means knowing the local community. While I was there, the proprietor, Chris, spoke to all sorts of locals about games they might be interested in, other games soon to come in or that just left, and other materials like a Spongebob CRT TV. (That's how you know I'm not making this up. *lol* ) You're likely here to sell or buy, not to know what makes this place tick. There's a lot of dense shelves of media that cover all sorts of video game consoles and video media players. From what I know, Christopher offers a professional standard rate on cash purchases: Half the rate he can sell it at. I think I understand, because where he's at must have plenty of people stopping by for media in the local industry. In other words--this place needs to be a local landmark ASAP so the local historians know where to go for the next generations of culture curators and historians.

I was so thrilled with some of the scores I used to get there. Now I find myself picking something up, looking at the price and putting it back down. They are accommodating and helpful and answer your questions, but I would like to see them return to a better pricing structure. As with many thrift stores, you'll find some items that are a great value and others that are overpriced.

It is so much easier to navigate through things when the inventory is limited and well placed. This place took me back in time to the 80s and 90s. There was so much great denim from that time. I found this great denim jacket, with embellishments, but I do wish it was a bit longer. There are formal dresses, casual things, cashmere sweaters, shoes, jewelry, accessories. Everything is appropriately priced. It is clean, non smelly, organized, frequently updated, inviting, with friendly staff. I'd for sure visit this store again.

Along a country road in the heart of the Pioneer Valley in rural western Massachusetts there are…read moretwo used bookstores across the street from one another. One is in a house and the other, Heritage Books, resides in a former turn of the century brick library. As many times as I've driven by Heritage on Rt 10 just a few miles south of bohemian Northampton, it never seemed to be open. This past Sunday it was and I stopped in for my first look-see. Nice. Lots of interesting volumes on just about everything are neatly stacked and fairly priced. They have a strong fiction and history section and I couldn't help myself and bought a book about exploring Alaska written about twenty years ago after the first couple of paragraphs grabbed my attention. This is one of those uniquely New England used bookstores - always good for a surprising find at a reasonable price. And if you don't like the price, you can always bargain. Will I be back to Heritage? Absolutely!

Downstairs you'll find the vintage paperbacks at $3 each and upstairs the vintage pulp novels are individually wrapped and priced. They also have vintage posters, issues of Harper's from the 1800s, and a good number of vintage sci-fi books. The mass market paperbacks were cheap ($1) but in poor condition. I'd rather pay a few dollars more and get ones in fair to good condition. If you don't mine driving north to Hadley, you'll find the best bookstore in the area. I ended up getting a Smurfette figurine while my husband chatted with the owner, I think. He graciously was giving my husband price estimates and guidelines even though my husband was thinking about selling his comics on Ebay. This guy really knew his stuff and had such a depth of comic history and information about various characters. He had also worked at the theater for 20 years, and my husband and him compared memories of the theater and we got to hear about secret, historical things in the theater as well. Really a great guy and making the store a wonderfully, helpful resource. It is guys like him that make small towns a special place to visit and the world a smaller, more friendly, warmer, better place.

She was very interactive and down to earth also showed us some sections where they have the dollar comics at. We found a little gem in there and also left with one of the older original Flash issues. If we're ever back in the area, for sure I know he'll be back.

This review is specifically about consigning as the owner is very nice and prices are great…read more I was shocked, however, when I took a few items in to consign as every other consignment shop I've dealt with gives pricing and payout when items are dropped off. This place takes your items, has you sign them over, and then sends a receipt telling the consigner what the item will be listed for and potential payout. My instinct was to take my items back as that made no sense to me, and I take responsibility for not taking my things and leaving. To find out that, as per their website, the new unworn and unused items worth hundreds retail would garner an average of $9.00 per piece was stunning. I would much prefer to donate to someone who could really use the item rather than get less than $10.00 for a dress that retails for $150 and was never worn. Lesson learned. I'm selling online from now on.
