As other Yelpers have stated, this store is packed with "inventory of every genre and subject", but just nothing for me. On a side note, I'm almost happy I didn't buy anything here today. The clerk was sitting at a desk right near the front entrance, no acknowledgement of me entering or leaving the place. Would it hurt you to say, "Hello" ? Sorry, lack of customers skills irks me a bit. Anyway, got back in the vehicle and headed to the next Used bookstore !

I visited here again recently and this place is still just as magical! It's tucked away in the…read morewoods and is chock full of immeasurable charm. The owner is English and her business is an extension of her lovely personality. I have childhood memories of this place that could have come straight out of a magical fairytale book. There are many categories here; a large history section, gardening, art, film, geography, mythology, crafts, so many categories and subcategories, and because they are curated by someone passionate with books there are no filler books here. The prices are unbelievably reasonable, this is a curated collection by a woman passionate about books, making a living off of it feels secondary here to the passion of finding the books. You will not ever find another place like this. In a small rural town no less! This is a destination place if you are visiting the area. Such a gem!

Can I just tell you how SUPER PSYCHED I am that a) this…read morebookstore is actually still open (when you drive by, it often looks like it's closed) b) it's just down the street from my house c) they have an absolute TON of books Upon first glance, Redbrick (one word) looks like a relic of times past. The red brick industrial building has it's own parking lot, which is a bit of a kamikaze move to get into. Once inside, you're surrounded on all fronts by books upon books upon books. A treasure trove of literature! The books are grouped into general sections: children's, self-help, religion, cookbooks, fiction, classics, romance, etc. The distinctions between these groups aren't as clear as they could be, so this bookstore is more for the patient, the ones who get great joy out of finding a really cool classic or a collection of stories from their childhood. It will take awhile to peruse the whole store, but I guarantee you'll find some winners in there. Most of the books (paperback, hardback) and magazines are from decades past. I saw few "newer" books on the shelves interspersed. Some of the books, particularly the children's books and those by the windows, have had their covers sun-bleached. I, for one, love the classics and enjoy collecting antique books and quite enjoyed myself here. Many of their older books (away from the windows) have aged very well. I purchased two of Hemingway's novels, another smaller antique book, and a fictional hardback from the 70s, with a very "period" cover. We spent the better part of an hour in there, enjoying the opportunity to browse! Check out is toward the front, where a husband and wife team sit and chat, read, or browse the web. Being in business for 34 years (!), you know they really have a true love for literature and I really hope they have no intention of closing down. Their prices are pretty affordable: the four books (2 classics, 1 antique, and 1 retro) came to about $14. And, as a note, they do accept debit cards for purchases over $10. A sign spattered about the store claims that most books are 50% off, unless written otherwise inside the cover. If you're a bibliophile, an avid reader, a book collector, an imaginative mind, you'll absolutely love stepping back in time at Redbrick. I highly recommend this as a "cool" place to spend a little time and a little cash.

Didn't see anything else interesting, but as another Yelper stated, the Romance section was pretty extensive. On a side note, they had the music cranked up REALLY loud. Decent tunes, but I still found it a bit annoying. Jumped back in the vehicle and Hit the road again !

You can acquire some really nice finds. The front usually has copious amounts of small tables and items for the yard. And, inside they have a lot of smalls - collectible glass, tiny vases, gorgeous china, intriguing antiques and so much more. Their store has majestic glass cases that are lit with all kinds of wonderful rings, bracelets, earrings, etc. And their items are priced from real high to real low. You can buy a bag of odds and ends to make your own jewelry or buy an exquisite piece of high end jewelry. The staff is full of friendly people with a down home country charm feel to them.

The Salmon Brook Shops is a store of a large collection of antiques in Granby. I stopped by on…read moreTuesday afternoon. This is a must visit for anyone who appreciates antiques. There's so much of everything in here. There's furniture, books, toys, fine china, jewelry, paintings, tools, etc... I was a bit nervous walking around, you have to be really careful not to knock anything over, as I'm sure it would cause a domino effect. There's so many delicate little things piled on each other, the tiniest swing of an arm could cost you a big embarrassment of a situation. My favorite are the paintings. The fine China they have is also beautiful and in excellent shape. There was an all wood rocking horse, that you could tell was well loved, but still has more love to give. There was only one other lady there browsing while I was there. It can't be good having too many people at the same time in such a tight space, with fragile items everywhere. If you love beautiful, well kept, antique items, I encourage you to visit The Salmon Brook Shops.

As soon as I walked in, the woman behind the counter directed to me to "the mask basket". Can't recall the last time I was asked to put on a mask, but I complied. Normally I would've walked out, but I figured I was only going to be in there for a few minutes and I had traveled a distance to get to this location, so the least I could do was satisfy her paranoia. Or perhaps authoritarian viewpoint ? Not sure which it was, but I was the only person in the shop at the time. After I was shown the SF/Fantasy section, I found a paperback right away from one of my favorite authors. 2 bucks, made putting up with the mask nonsense worth it. Jumped back in the vehicle and headed to the next Used bookstore !

We were quite excited to check out this bookstore during our vacation. We had just arrived in our…read morecar with our 13-year-old Labrador Retriever (we planned to take turns in the bookstore with the other hanging out with the dog), when our cellphones let us know that we were under a tornado warning and should take shelter immediately. We had no place to go, so my husband ran in and asked the manager/owner if, given the circumstances, we could take shelter there until the emergency was over. We thought, given the types of folks who tend to run independent bookstores, that question would be a no-brainer. To our stunned amazement, he said no. "Nice" guy. Our everlasting thanks to the employee who ran out into the parking lot and helped us find our way to the local Tractor Supply Company, where we took shelter. We give this place 1 star - zero for the bookstore and its owner and five for the employee, because at least one person in that place has a truly kind heart.

A section of modern library books near the checkout counter which are priced very reasonably and are 3$ -6$ or so. The rest of the books (depending on topic) range from 4$ to about 25$ or so. The staff members were really helpful in telling me if books were available and where to find them. Although they didn't have many of the books I wanted (very popular children's books), the employees were really helpful. I've also stopped in here just to see if I can find a book or two that tickles my fancy. They don't seem to be able to hold on to more popular books but that certainly isn't their fault! Either way, it's a cute, lovely shop with friendly employees. Definitely drop by here to experience a staple of downtown Northampton.

The aisles are narrow so only one person can occupy the space at a time, but it just means you have to look at other books waiting your turn. The prices have a range depending on type, age, and genre but are pretty easy to figure out. Those that do have special pricing are also clearly marked. The shop doesn't have set hours so definitely follow on social media. Not only is it fun to see all the new books that come in, they're very clear about when a sale will come along.

Out back, which by the way does have a couple parking spots also has the yurt which is where you will find the majority of the books. It's a very impressive collection and has a good variety of genres and while a lot are vintage I did stumble upon some more commonly know titles such as Harry Potter and a Hunger Games book. If you only explore the main building and skip the yurt you certainly miss out! The owner was extremely friendly and you could tell this is a passion of his to share his collection for others to find and collect! Also for the most part I really thought prices were reasonable, with many of the books in the yurt looking like they were $3-$4 roughly. My wife and I almost decided to purchase an awesome looking lamp that featured a barrel as the base. We did up just browsing though but enjoyed our time here very much! Worth visiting for sure!
