I've been to Raquel twice already. The first time was my first time ever getting a Brazilian waxed. Raquel was very good at explaining to me what to expect and how to take care of my skin afterwards. She gave me knowledge on how to stay away from ingrown's. Every thing she recommended me to buy (new wash cloth, spray) to not get ingrown's I bought from her, I listened to her advice and I was so happy with my ending results!! I've had a good amount of waxing done prior to being referred to Raquel and no one has done a better job and made me feel comfortable the way she has. She is ALWAYS professional and honest, never makes you feel dumb when you have questions, she actually encourages them and will give you advice that actually works. Raquel NEVER makes you feel insecure/awkward about your waxing (which is a huge thing in my opinion). I'm not sure about a recent reviewers' experiences but respecting boundaries and rules goes a long way and you'll find Raquel does her best to respect you and herself as she completes your service. I have been a loyal customer for 3 years, getting waxed by raquel every 4 weeks. The work she does was great but sadly the customer service was terrible. I would dread going to her every single time because she was flat out rude. I'm not sure if it's because i'm young but I truly felt like she was very condescending and would belittle me. I'm all about supporting small businesses, especially one that is ran by a woman (and I did for 3 years) but this one I truly cannot support. The situation that did it for me was when I texted her to reschedule my appointment because my period came early that month ( I didn't feel comfortable getting my cooch waxed on my period) she proceeds to respond "just use a tampon or a diva cup" which threw me off because as a woman I would expect her to understand. Fast forward, I go to the appointment that I rescheduled and off the bat the vibe is off, she's being very short with me, barley making eye contact and i'm hugeee on energy, her energy felt like she was upset with me or something. I was still on my period at the time of this appointment but I felt like she would get upset with me if I rescheduled again or charge me a fee so I just said the hell with it i'll put a tampon in because she said. NOW LET ME SAY THIS, I have not had my period in 2 whole years because I have the birth control in my arm so I couldn't remember the last time I put a tampon in. Anyways, I'm at the appointment I undress and lay down and continue to tell her i'm still on my period but I have a tampon in. She goes "yeah you've came to me before on your period so that's why when you wanted to reschedule I was confused" with such attitude and in a rude tone. I sat there quite thinking to myself "when the hell have I ever came to her on my period??? I NEVER GET MY PERIOD". So I told her nicely, "No I don't think so I haven't had my period in almost 2 years", she's there arguing trying to tell me that I came to her before on my period with a tampon in. I'm there nicely saying "ummm no not me" she sarcastically goes "mm okay". Then silence after that. I felt BEYOND UNCOMFORTABLE. I couldn't wait to leave her place. Once I left I cried because I felt so uncomfortable with my naked body on her table trying to tell me i've done something i've never done. I thought about going back to her because don't get me wrong her work is great but I just can't do it. I stopped answering her texts when it came to my next appointment because I knew if I told her everything i'm writing here now she would argue with me and probably still try to tell me i've came to her before on my period. After this experience i'm scared to wax again, the feeling of being naked on a table and being judged was traumatizing. Because of my experience with raquel I have now stopped waxing. read more

Raquel has saved my Brazilian wax life and I can't thank her enough! I was hesitant to leave Wax Candy after I had been receiving service there for quite some time and was comfortable with all the women there. After each wax I would immediately need to be covered in hydrocortisone cream because I would break out with red itchy bumps instantly after my wax. I just assumed it was sensitive skin and was no big deal. The red bumps would eventually go away, but the severe itching never did, and frequent ingrowns would show up. The itching is something I've struggled with for years and would even scratch to the point of bleeding. My doctor worked closely with me for over 6 months trying different steroid creams and prescriptions after diagnosing it as psoriasis, but nothing really worked long term. My esthetician recommended Raquel and I've been seeing her consistently for 6 months now. I noticed an immediate difference after our first wax together. I did not have any red bumps post wax, she did not need to put any hydrocortisone cream on me, and for my first two or three waxes I had some minor itching that didn't last more than a few minutes which was improvement, but now I have ZERO itching after my waxes! Also minimal ingrowns! She is extremely knowledgeable and explained in detail pre-wax, post-wax and long term care for me as well as the importance of routine waxing every 4 weeks (not just when the hair grows back enough or you feel like it). Raquel provided me with an entire exfoliation and skincare routine for my Brazilian area and no medications are needed to prevent excessive dryness or itching now. Raquel's waxing technique, use of hard wax only, and consistent care routine has changed my entire experience and life for the better, I can't thank you enough girl! Btw I noticed someone saying Raquel is rude and aggressive. I want to mention that for my first time with Raquel I thought she was intense and I was kind of intimidated. I never had someone drop so much knowledge on me and communicate with me as direct as she did our first visit. I then realized that she simply sets boundaries early on to protect herself and her business (as she should) and the only reason I thought it was intense/intimidating was because no one had ever done it and enforced it like she has. Just because you are paying for a service, it does not give you the right to be inconsiderate or entitled to the person providing that service, and this includes their time and energy. My first encounter with Raquel was okay. She had good reviews and seemed like she really knew the business and what comes with it. However, I understand that times are tough and all, but at the end of the day you are still proving customer service. Bringing in a new customer is hard, retaining a current customer is easy. And her customer service is not the best, she's comes off really rude, she rushes through the process and even in her conversations and she's definitely not understanding. As someone who has started her own business I have to understand that life happens and sometimes customers will run late, but there is no need to be rude or give ultimatums. My first visit she was rude and rushed and I decided to give her another chance because of all her great reviews and to help a small business, I'd rather support my community then go with the big guys, the second time I was 6 mins late ( it's Long Beach and parking is not the best) I communicated with her and upon arrival she said I pretty much ruined her whole schedule. She tried to apologize later but it was too late, I decided to still give her a chance because some people might have a hard time during this whole quarantine. But the third time of her continuous rudeness, rushing, and coming off so cold was a no for me. So just a little advise from someone who has her own business and assists with starting new one, time management.
