Very good food. My friends each got a burger and fish & chips and I got a salad and the deviled eggs appetizer. It was all good. We got to sit at the front window which was nice but they also had charming outdoor seating. Save time after dinner to walk on the wonderful historic street. There are many shops worth perusing. read more

This place is so neat inside! We decided to sit outside for a cocktail since the weather was great and we had great service to match the weather. I had the Dixie Sparkler and my hubby had an old fashioned. We'll definitely be back during a date night since the indoor space is so unique. They have pool tables, funky decor with warm light table lamps, a large bar and more tables in the back with upstairs seating too and lots of light from big windows on the side since it's on a corner lot within the downtown mall. I also want to try their food menu and some additional drinks along with their live music since they have a stage too. read more

Whole family (10 people including the old folks) showed up without notice for a late lunch, staff was very accommodating with seating and service and checks. Food was perfectly fine. Enjoyed a game of pool. 11/10 thank! read more

The location was great, but that was all. The waiter was attentive and seemed friendly but he became less cordial more condescending. There was a lot of talk about a special, 15 bean soup, which I ordered but it was never served. My wife ordered the fish and chips, it was really greasy. Like the cooking oil wasn't hot when it was cooked, the fries were soggy too. I had also asked for coffee at the end of the meal, the waiter said he Shenandoah Joe's brewing, but that wasn't served either. We weren't given a check, just asked who was paying? I gave him my card and he brought me the bill, $119 plus change bill. A little high for lunch for four and two only drank water and no dessert- it wasn't offered. I didn't even get a receipt, so I don't know if I was paying for the soup and coffee that I ordered but didn't receive. Also, I think our waiter was insulted when I asked him to take a photo of us, he did, 17 photos. I look forward to visiting the mall again but won't be patronizing the Rapture again. read more

We dined there for brunch and ordered the the fried brussel sprouts for the appetizer and I ordered the veggie omelet for my entree. The fried brussel sprouts were different than I expected but they tasted really good! It came with a "spicy tomato sauce" and white sauce that I really liked. Although the sauce is labeled as spicy it did not taste spicy to me and that is coming from someone who does not enjoy spicy foods. My veggie omelet was good but nothing to write home about. While it tasted fine I would probably try something else the next time that I go. My boyfriend ordered a burger and it looked really good and he said he liked it. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was super friendly. I would go back to this restaurant again but maybe during dinner time next time to explore other menu options. read more

Came here and ordered the bacon cheese burger and the fried chicken sandwich. Both were good: the hamburger was cooked to the right temperature and had a fresh flavor, topped with well-flavored bacon. Only complaint was that the bacon was not as crispy as I would have liked. The french fries were crispy and also tasty. The chicken sandwich was also good and crispy and ordered with sweet potato fries. The fries were crispy out on the outside and creamy on the inside, with a hint of sweet potato flavor. read more

Took some company out to dinner tonight and had a bad experience. Both of the orders of Gumbo was like tomato soup with no shrimp, a little sausage and little chicken, hardly any meat at all. Heat level was ok but was way too tomato-y. More like tomato soup. Two of us ordered the ribeye, one of which was cooked a good bit past the medium per the order. Both were unusually fatty. We were too hungry to deal with delays so ate it regardless, but with much disappointment. Also didn't care for the attitude /personality of the waiter who was initially a bit cold and snippy. Overall just wasn't a good experience. Maybe all due to lack of staff and covid etc.... but regardless not near up to par, full price for below average food and service. read more

2nd bad experience here. Got there about 4:30p on a Saturday. Wanted to sit outside. Was told to wait by the host stand and someone will seat us. We waited 5 mins with nobody recognizing us and left. Came back about 20 mins later and was told that the lady that was in the outside dining area wearing a blue or denim outfit would seat us. We waited a few mins without anybody talking to us. I walked up to the lady and asked her if we could grab a table. She said that we could but we would have to wait until she sat us. I told her that we had already been waiting multiple times without anybody talking to us. She told me "you can just go eat somewhere else." read more

We had a great experience at Rapture. Needed an outdoor spot because we had our dog with us. We had dog treats and fresh water for our pup before we had our own drinks, which we just loved. We all enjoyed what we ordered....my omelette was one of the best I've had...cheesy grits were delicious. We would definitely come back if we're in Charlottesville again. (We're Hokie fans, so it's doubtful, but ya never know.) read more

I ordered the Philly Cheese staek sandwich and my cousin ordered tbe quesodilas, we were very very impressed with the portuon of food as well as the attentivness of the server, Dee was very much so up on our drinks and needs for an enjoyable dinner. The atmosphere was very quiet and relaxing, over all i would highly reccomend dining at this wonderful establishment . read more

I don't need to pay for a waiter to make me feel unwanted. Place wasn't busy, it was just obvious that our older (60's?), male, white, bald, wearing glasses waiter just wanted us gone. We sat outside & he even took our water when 'patio service' ended at 9pm. I guess the guy has to feel like he has power over something in his life. Drinks were good so I gave 2 stars. read more

My husband and I have had lunch here several times. The food has always been amazing. We both ordered steak. I had the filet rare and he ordered the ribeye medium rare. My steak was so fresh it melted in you mouth. It was cooked perfectly too. The vegetables were absolutely delicious. We had a sweet white wine and water with our lunch. It was just a lovey experience. This is one of a favorite places to eat in Charlottesville. read more

I had a really great meal here. Rapture is widely known as a nightclub at nighttime, but its food menu during the days can't be overlooked. We ordered a bunch of appetizers in tapas style. The sweet potato poutine was wonderful, especially with the creaminess of the goat cheese. I was slightly underwhelmed with the hush puppies, as I'd been anticipating them being a bit bigger. But my absolutely favorite was the pimento cheese croquettes that were so cheesy and melty inside of a crisp breaded exterior and served with a spicy mustard dipping sauce. The prices of the entrees were a bit high, but appetizers reasonable. Brunch is also excellent as well on weekends. read more

i definitely don't recommend this at all because of the bartender NATALIE. she ignored us for an hour. acted like she put our food order in at 11pm. once it hit 12:30 we asked about where our food was and she said "that's not my job ask the cooks" i am also a bartender and i would never speak to my guests like that. completely unacceptable we didn't receive our 8 ct wings until 2 HOURS LATER. while the people that orders 30 seconds in front of us received their order 2 hours before us. damon and the cooks made sure to get our order out when they realized we were upset, the cook also told me he never received the order from her... i will be following up and calling in the morning because i've never been treated like this in a bar and this was completely unacceptable. Natalie gave the worst service i've ever received in my life. very disrespectful and i am very disappointed as i have been coming here for 5 years. i will definitely not be back after this experience! i expect a refund for this unfortunate service! read more

Very good Philly Cheese Steak. Nice space, and the servers couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. I'll be back soon.

Hmm, so we walked in at 830 and supposedly the kitchen closes at 9..not sure why everything closes so early around here but it does. As we were waiting for a hostess, had some small talk w the chef and he seemed really cool and nice, the hostess then eye balled me and then looked away about 2-3 times which i thought was rude, then finally sat us..after she stood there looking like why are we standing and waiting for a table. Lady w glasses on a wed night. We then sat and everytime we said thanks she didnt reply much..ok..the wings and tomato bisque came out and wings had really good lemon pepper seasoning! Tomato bisque soup i think was ehh cuz it was luke warm when it tastes best hot! Hence the rating. I wouldnt go back again w that service. read more

Amazing avocado toast and service. Bloody Mary's are Devine. Great little stop in. Downtown Charlottesville, VA.

The menu pulled me in. I was so hungry I forgot to check the reviews before I went in. My first and second choice were gone from the menu, so I opted for my third choice, the meatloaf dinner. The meatloaf was pretty good but the mashed potatoes were dry. My boyfriend had the fried chicken entree. The chicken was dry and lacked flavor. The mac and cheese was very tasty. Pros: friendly service, drinks refilled Cons: meh food Note: LGBT friendly as Charlottesville in general seemed to be read more

SEXUALLY HARASSED BY STAFF!! DONT EAT HERE!! While the food was subpar... the wait staff was incredibly rude. I'm a younger woman and was wearing a tshirt with a funny slogan on it. One of the waiters (a bald man, probably early 50's) felt the need to aggressively explain to me that the slogan on my shirt meant sex and that the entire kitchen staff was "discussing the implications of me wearing that shirt". Definitely the first time I've dined somewhere just to be told that the restaurant staff was discussing if I was fuckable or not and felt the need to let me know. The man also noted that he thought I was a student, and "just wanted to let me know what men thought of me when I wore my shirt". I'm from out of town and am not a student at UVA but I would really warn girls not to eat here. If I hadn't had two friends with me to jump to my aid, I'm worried what else would have been said. The restaurant staff clearly needs some lessons on not only how to treat their customers, but also on how to not be creepy assholes. read more

So I came here late night with a few friends and I'd skipped dinner... but for lunch I had a bit of a greasy meal so I wanted something light and .. sweet. But when I ordered this gluten free carrot cake I was sorely mistaken. It was dry, old and downright not tasty. I don't like leaving unpleasant reviews but I just thought I'd warn the rest of you to not have this cake be your move because it just wasn't fresh or even remotely like good... but the sweet potatoes fries weren't bad just a small portion. read more

The server was fairly rude and acted very inconvenienced when my food came out incorrectly (I have food allergies). Service was super slow.

Service was bizarre- waitress didn't know if the fried chicken was bone in or bone out, and she said "it usually means bone-out" instead of asking the kitchen. I went ahead and ordered it. It came bone-in. Regardless, the food was nothing special- the truffle mac did have good flavor, but wasn't as cheesy as I would have liked. The chicken was a bit dry. Portion sizes for the other dishes at my table weren't huge- some members of the party left hungry after their entree and an appetizer. If they did one thing well, it was the crisps that came with the hummus plate- they were amazingly buttery. read more

Fabulous service, good steaks and the sides were perfectly done. The location is wonderful. A must.

Had a first and last experience at Rapture over the weekend... The drinks were fine (well, it was rum and coke so pretty hard to screw up), however the service was rather rude-- followed the LED lights to an upstairs area (being super aware of the absence of any signs saying we couldn't be there) and was chased down by management for being somewhere we have "no business being at"... Staff made no effort being respectful, and treated us rather poorly. Seems like a pretty hit or miss location, and we went on a miss. read more

Such a FIND! We had dinner reservations nearby at The Hamilton so we popped in for a quick drink and appetizer! The waitress was fabulous and helpful. She suggested the Brussel Sprouts and she didn't steer us wrong! They were absolute perfection. The wine was great too! The restaurant is in a historic building. Make sure you check it out. Our neighboring tables had drool worthy food too! Gorgeous! read more

Hands down the best brunch in Charlottesville. Honestly some of the tastiest wings I've ever eaten. Biscuits are homemade and banging. Fun bar to see live music and shoot pool at night. Nighttime gets a little seedy but in the way you want it to be. read more

Gave it a try. Sounded interesting. Food was ok. Not spectacular. A bit salty in fact. We had the beet humus. Different. Split a salad which was good. The scallops was on a bed of white beans. Also had the pork belly. Not bad. Not great. Table next to us ordered a bottle of wine which could not be opened since the cork was dry and crumbled into the bottle. They tried on another bottle and it did the same. The sandwiches looked good. Maybe I should have tried those. read more

Food, service, ambience? 5 stars on all. Superb service for a table of 5 sibs plus 2 partners; simply exceptional service, all food outstanding (shrimp & grits highly recommended), wine menu not vast but extremely well chosen. I'm a big fan of rapture! It's got tons of personality for a bar/restaurant on the mall. First, I absolutely love their Tuesday night karaoke. It's a great, diverse fun loving crowd. Drinks are cheap and there's plenty of room in the back. I haven't tried their regular food but I'm inclined to after having two great Sunday brunches at rapture. Their biscuit and gravy is made from scratch and legit good. I recommend getting a side of some kind, methinks bacon is a solid choice. I also had their totchos which are tators tots in hollandaise. These were tasty but pretty small so won't fill anyone up whose really hungry. Their mimosa and bloody Mary's aren't mindblowing but will certainly scratch that brunch itch. Service has always been friendly and attentive. read more

Right on main path, but a little hidden. We entered via the side door, which takes you to a bar and pool tables. Friendly staff and dealt well with our two year old who enjoyed running around and climbing the steps. Yummy local IPAs (and other beers). It was a Saturday evening, and other restaurants had a 30-45 minute wait, and no one was in Rapture. . Worst service ever. We went with a party of 9 , and they refused to seat us, because we did not want to answer the rude hostess's question, "Are you vaccinated?" read more

One of the best, most reasonably priced meals I have ever had. The Brussels Sprouts were incredible. The steak frites (hangar steak) was one of the best I ever had.
