I had a great experience at Lost Saint last time I was in town so I had to return to try more…read moreseasonal cocktails and food. The ambiance reminds me of the prohibition era as it is located in the basement of Tavern & Grocery. My husband and I met up with some of his co-workers and they had a 6 top table to accommodate our group. Service was also excellent this second visit. I had the Dilly Dally and the Roses Really Smell Like cocktails while my husband tried the Lemon Meringue Flip. For dinner we had the roasted cauliflower and pan seared cod fish. The roasted cauliflower had a nice flavor profile with shiitake mushrooms and castelvetrano olives. We were too full for dessert, but we will return.

The place was packed in the main room, though there's a separate room that they opened up. The staff was friendly and cleared tables promptly to help us find a spot to sit. I believe there were some food options, though we did not order any. We did an old fashioned and a bar tenders choice. Not sure what it was, but it was delicious!! It's dark and moody, with lots of candles. I believe you can also enter through the back. Restroom was very gross... but other than that, a great experience. We were just passing through, but I would absolutely recommend and go back.

A friend and I shared 3 dishes and drank some ranch waters for lunch on a summer Tuesday…read more -Puerco Y Jalapenos (Jalapeños stuffed with chorizo cream cheese wrapped in bacon and served with a cilantro lime cream sauce) were probably the best of the 3. -My companion liked the Esquite Bombs (Putting a twist on traditional esquite, corn, potato, chihuahua cheese, cotija cheese, cilantro, guajillo cream, and takis crumbles. Rolled and deep-fried into savory balls of heaven) next best, while I found it to be a little dry and Taki-crumbles overtook the taste. Still good! -The Meji Glizzy (12″ Beef hotdog wrapped in jalapeno and bacon on a bun with mayo, slaw, cheese, onion, cilantro, guajillo sauce, avocado, caramelized onion, and potato straws) was a delicious take on a hot dog, if a little messy. -The Ranch Waters were light and refreshing, as they should be. I'm SURE I'll be returning soon and exploring more of their menu!

I got the birria and carne asada tacos - both so flavorful I had to order more than one of each! On top of that, our server had such a friendly energy that made the experience very enjoyable. The ambiance is a vibe! Colorful and plenty of space for large groups or an event. Highly recommend checking Mejicali out!

I recently flew out of Charlottesville back home to Atlanta. While I waited for my flight, I…read moredecided to grab a breakfast burrito and a drink at the ONLY place to eat in the whole airport. At first I was going to order a rum based drink but the "bartender" who also served as the cashier for the restaurant part told me they didn't have any pineapple juice-an ingredient that would have made the drink pop. So against my better judgment, I decided to order an old fashioned. Now before anyone comes for me and says that doesn't go with a breakfast burrito and why would you get that for an afternoon flight? You're right I should have not done this because it was by far the WORST old fashioned I have had in my LIFE! But did I listen to my gut to my better self?? No! I foolishly ordered it. Another bartender comes over and asks the cashier/bartender if she wanted to learn how to make one. Now side bar, I'm a bartender too so I know how a good or even decent old fashioned should be made and taste. Which is another reason why I shouldn't have ordered it from an airport dive bar, if you will. Anyways, as I am watching him make it and "teach" his coworker how to make it my flabbers were gasted!!! He grabs an orange slice and maraschino cherry from the fridge and puts it in a rock bottom glass. He then dashes a few bitters in it and grabs some sugar and pours it over the fruit. He grabs his muddler and muddles those ingredients together. I'm speechless. He then adds ice cubes not an ice block or sphere and adds the bourbon. Now pause, if he'd stopped there I would have classified the cocktail as a mid level drink. Not great but meh. I would have said well technically it's the traditional way to make an old fashioned. But nooo he does not stop there! He then takes the drink, holds it under the soda nozzle and pours CLUB SODA on top! I clutched my proverbial pearls!!! I do not know if this is the regional way to make OF's but this was absolutely abhorrent! But what made it worse besides me not saying hell no I don't want that was the price-TWENTY-ONE dollars and 63 cents!! I deserve to be slapped for paying it and most importantly not sending it back. Needless to say, I swallowed the subpar drink, paid for it and vowed that I will never allow someone to serve me something I know is made incorrectly and two never order my favorite cocktail from the only bar in a small town airport. Lesson learned for sure!

This really isn't such a bad airport bar. It has some beers on tap (including a few local beers),…read moreand a full bar. Plenty of seating for this tiny airport (it is the only bar/restaurant in the airport). My only real complaint about the bar? The food is pretty terrible. I ordered a Margherita pizza, which was pretty awful. Definitely frozen and reheated in a toaster over. It was exceptionally bad! Definitely just grab pre-prepared foods!
