I've passed by this spot a thousand times and never thought to go in--tucked, as it is, in the corner of a large parking lot and abutted by big box stores, it didn't necessarily call out to me. Well thank goodness I finally decided to nip in to 3rd Generations Grill last evening for a hot meal and a cold beer after a long day. I was quite happy with the experience. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but the dining room is large, open, and features a nice bar at the back with a decent selection of draft beer (sadly no dark options for the porter- and brown ale-loving crowd) and sundry spirits. The walls are plastered with rock & roll posters (they get extra credit for the Ziggy Stardust poster on the left side of the room as you enter) and the space is clean and well lit without being antiseptic and blazing. I think with a larger crowd (it was a bit sparse on my visit) the room could be a bit loud, so if quiet is your thing maybe plan for a low traffic time. After negotiating a workaround for the QR code-based online menu (I deduct a full star if that's my only option for ordering because I think it's poor service), I ordered the Generator burger from my very friendly, helpful, and service-forward bartender. What's great is I told him what I was looking for and he competently guided me to one of the best burgers I've had in a while. Double smashed patty, double bacon, cheese, onion. I added lettuce and tomato because I want to dupe myself into believing I had a vegetable that evening. Comes with side of their hand-cut fries and is a hearty portion of well prepared food. When I say this is a two-handed-eat-over-the-plate-like-a-caveman burger, that's exactly what it is. Thing is a monster of beautiful beef and bacon and cheese (sorry vegans, try again). Oh, and the food came out in good time--not fast food, but good food fast. I have a minor quibble with the fries which, while hand cut and nicely seasoned, were a bit under and kinda soggy. Not inedible, but could be better. I think if they blanched the fries before the final cook they'd achieve a crispier outside with that nice cushy potato centre you want in a French fry. Met my dad in Waynesboro for lunch and picked this place based on google and yelp reviews. It's a small place with a rock and roll atmosphere. The bartender was also server and was very friendly. He is why it is 4 stars. The food was pretty good. My burger was cooked well and the fries were very good. Dad enjoyed his fried shrimp. Bathroom was clean and it wasn't busy for lunch on a Thursday. We went in for a quick dinner because the boys were craving a burger. We were not initially greeted as the bartender was the only staff in the room and he was serving others. We were finally sat and the bartender was our server as well. He was doing his best, but he was stuck behind the bar most of the time so service was spotty. The space is really nicely decorated and I bet it's awesome when they have love music come in. The food was...fine. Pretty standard bar fare. The boys said the burgers were the perfect thickness. The fries were a little bland in my opinion. If you're looking for a bar with live music and cool people this is your place. If you're looking for amazing food...maybe skip this one and come back when its time to drink. read more

We've tried many of the menu items from apps to desserts and main dishes including shrimp and Mexican inspired entrées. Best damn wings I have ever had! Came through town and searched for a pub like place on google. Decided to visit. Ordered a couple of beers and wings. Got the korean bbq and blue cheese. They blew my socks off! Came back the next night before leaving town. Repeated my order and it was consistent. It was a Saturday night and got lucky with a seat at the bar. They had a live band playing old rock tunes. They were OK but way too loud. Service was great, everyone was friendly. I am sad to leave town. I may have to move LOL! read more

Stopped by on a brisk Saturday evening for an early dinner. Pulled into the parking lot where parking was a plenty. At the other end of the parking lot is a grocery store which was bustling. Walked into the grill and the door had barely opened when I heard a cheerful voice call out "welcome, come on in and sit wherever you'd like". The bar had plenty of seating available (which is where we sat), band on the stage, and generous tables and booths available around the place. I ordered the tomato soup, grilled cheese, egg rolls, and a sweet tea to wash it down. The service received was hands down incredible. We were made to feel like old friends and the vibe of the place was super chill and inviting. The food was amazing, clean restrooms, decent prices for items on the menu, and overall a place I'd highly recommend visiting again. Based off all the local chatter, it's clear lots of the people that were visiting the establishment were regulars. The establishment offers a variety of events such as putterball night, live music nights, and even caters for private events. Stop by if you are ever in the area. Hubby & I went here to have a quick bite before going to a late movie. The place was pretty empty. But there was a small group of very loud patrons at the bar. We were told to sit anywhere upon entering and then we sat and sat... Bartender finally came over after finishing her conversation with the folks at the bar took our drink orders and then we sat for quite a bit more time, before she returned to take order. I ordered the fish platter, it's Rockfish filet and choice of 2 sides. I chose fries and hushpuppies as my sides. When the food came out all the items were very brown and seriously over cooked. One more minute and they would have been burnt black. You could smell the grease, the oil in their fryers needs to be changed. I couldn't even finish my meal, no one checked on us after the food was brought. After listening to a very loud conversation about boobs, a conversation that the bartender was participating in the Hubby walked up to the bar to pay for our meal so we could leave. read more

My husband and I stopped here for dinner while traveling for a work trip for him last night. Jenna greeted us warmly as we entered and was attentive to us the entire time we were there. Vibe was good in the restaurant and the food was really good. We had two different apps (pork belly and fried shrimp) then our entrees (Nachos with the beef and a Bacon Cheddar with grilled onions and fries). Everything tasted great! Went for grand opening last night. It was mobbed but was able to find a booth right in front of the band. It was very loud due to music and so many people but everyone in a very good mood. Lots of servers paying attention, asking if we wanted refills etc. surprisingly large menu options, not just the usual pub grub. I got a shrimp salad and my husband got the steak salad. Both were very ample portions, prepared well, delicious and delivered quickly despite crowd. Band was awesome ( Alex Arbaugh, Shelton Sprouse and Paul Cline) and fun watching people out on the dance floor! Altogether a wonderful event. Wishing the new owners much success! read more

Went to E&J's for dinner and live music. The service was excellent: attentive, friendly, helpful, and prompt. Ordered the crab and shrimp salad on a buttered New England roll with house made chips. The sandwich was very good, but it is not enough for dinner. Ordered the steak bowl chimichurri bistro steak, white and wild rice, pineapple salsa, avocado, and chimichurri sauce. The steak was cooked medium rare as requested and was well seasoned. I thought the other ingredients were bland, but my others liked it as is. I prefer bolder flavors. Also ordered a build-your-own burger too. The hamburger is ground fresh daily and cooked to order. Requested a medium burger topped with Monterey Jack cheese, red onion, slaw, pickles, and Korean BBQ sauce. The burger was cooked medium as requested and served on a nice brioche roll. It was juicy but lacked flavor. Added salt helped, but would have preferred if it had been seasoned as it was cooked. The $6 burger might be the best deal on the menu. There is no cover charge for live music. Mercy Trail played a variety of covers for about two and half hours. Everyone enjoyed the music and atmosphere. E&J's is welcoming local bar and grill. Bring a coat! As some have suggested, it was cold. read more

Really good food. Nice service. They allow dogs outside on the patio area. Inside has a band area where they have live bands. Interior is a like 80's- 90's band bar. Fun, but a little kitschy. The pork belly was very good and flavorful. read more

The guy on stage was singing about getting high on Herion and every song was about drugs, this is our second time to go there for dinner but definitely our very last. If you are a person of color I would not recommend this restaurant. I am in town for work and this place was recommend. After sitting at the bar for a few minutes the bartender appeared with a drink for the only other person seated at the bar. I waited for her to make her way to me just a few seats down but she just talked to the customer while looking at me. A few seconds later a gentleman from a table came up to the Bar a few seats down on my left. The bartender immediately came to ask him what he wanted while grabbing a cocktail napkin for him right in front of me. It was clear I wasn't welcomed. I picked up my wallet and left. The Good: They usually have good bands(and there's no cover charge to get in to see the bands) and a pretty good selection of craft beers. The wait staff is friendly and does a good job. The Bad: That being said, the last few times I've been in there it's been very cold. I'm not sure if they have a problem with the heating system or what. But it's a real put off to go into a pub and then freeze your ass off. The food: I admit I haven't had too much but appetizers. But when I order onion rings of french fries I expect to get more than a small handful. Last 2 times I ordered onion rings I got 5 small rings both times. The Mrs ordered some fries and ... I kid you not... we got 21 fries. To see if this was just a hiccup we ordered more.... this time we got an amazing 23 fries. So here's the deal... I'm not going to spend 10$ on fries(to put something on my stomach before I get to the beer) just so I can have beer without it going straight to my head. And if I can't do that I don't order beer. So you guys are shooting yourselves in the foot by doing this. read more

This place is one our family faves, and for good reason. 1/2 price items sunday thru wednesday. Their shrimp is my favorite. But the burgers are awesome and I LOVE the chicken tacos. The loaded fries are handcut and they make their own bacon! Basically you cant go wrong w their food, period. Service....Bartenders are friendly and they recognize you if you come back. Food is served hot and exactly as ordered. Every time. Its also made for music nights. Good acts and good crowds. I definitely recommend E&Js!!!! read more

Very good, fresh food. We both got burgers, which were amazing! For a side, I got macaroni salad, which had a mayo/Italian dressing type sauce. Really tasty. Only downside for me was the strong red onion in it. Husband got the pineapple salsa as his side, which he enjoyed but did say it was a little too spicy for his liking. He also thought the red onion was too strong. I had sweet tea and it was so good! It was fresh and brewed very well. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Excellent food! The house chips where amazing and crunchy the grilled chicken was fabulous and the staff is amazing. I had to try one of my husbands sweet potato fries drizzled with honey and that was amazing as well. Great place to bring the kids and family for a meal. Prices where very reasonable. If you are lucky enough to be served by Chris and/or her daughter, Morgan, you are in for fabulous, friendly, bend over backwards to serve you service. They have steamed shrimp that are done to perfection, and they have happy hour pricing on those shrimp: 5 very large ones for $4. I swannie, I could eat their shrimp all day long. Or until my pocketbook gave out! They have other happy hour specials (3-6 daily), but you have to ask about them. The pork taco is surprisingly just terrific, served with an Asian sauce and cole slaw and onions. But if you want wings, go on Monday. All day Monday their wings are buy (6 or 12) and get an equal amount for just a dollar more. They have happy hour pricing on their wings, that equals out to 80 cents per wing. (and I should say, wing third, as they only serve one segment and count it as a whole). The buy 6 get 6 ends up costing 66 cents per and the 12 and 12 is 58 cents per. And while those are available for dine in only, they will give you a to-go container if your eyes are bigger than your stomach. The dry rub varieties are just that: DRY (and kinda hard, too), but the wet sauced ones are juicy. If you want a quiet dinner, come early (before 5:30-6) - or just go elsewhere. It gets quite loud when they have live music. You will know when you pull into the parking lot, as you will hear it way out there. NOT a place to go catch up with a friend's news as you won't be able to hear one another. read more

Really bad experience there today. Which bums us out as we have always loved it there. New owners, all of whom, apparently handle customer drink glasses with theirs hands all over the top where customers drink from. That's basic server training - keep your hands off of top of glass. On top of that they were talking about how sick they were. My husband has been undergoing cancer treatment, thus immune system compromised. I hoped their illness was the hangover it appeared to be as they coughed, ate, vaped, blew their nose, rubbed their face and continued to serve drinks with their hand over top of customer's glasses. We were served drinks that were slide across the bar to us. No cocktail napkins, but no danger of them spilling as they weren't even close to being full. Sloppy. Order taken. Kitchen delivered it. No other service offered throughout entire experience, even though we needed drinks again 1/2 way through meal. Never offered. Plates never cleared. Credit card sat on bar for almost 15 minutes before someone took it for payment. There were only like 10 people in the entire restaurant and at times NO employee in sight. At those times the language coming from the kitchen was pretty offensive. As an old restaurant owner, I find it impossible to stiff waitstaff. But really struggled to tip today. Hate it, used to be one of our favs. Oh, they were out of some brunch items, but our food was as delicious as always. Just no service and terrible hygiene. Ugh. read more

All the reviews are right....the staff is great!!!! That's where it ends. We stopped here passing through town and we're really disappointed. For my boyfriend to not finish his food says it all.....he will literally eat almost ANYTHING. The Philly was dry and had NO taste.....it needed salt. As a matter of fact EVERYTHING needed salt. The meatballs sub was okay but needed salt. The cheese fries were a mess....undercooked fries under layers of cheese(and grease) with a few sprinkles of bacon. You had to eat them with a fork and knife because the just smushed over when you tried to pick them up. Ugh....I really wish I could say it was awesome cause everyone was so nice....but I can't! To top it all off....two sandwiches, some cheese fries and two drinks cost 40 buck. read more
