On the day of the appointment their guy shows up on time is respectful and takes the window and screen out in like 5 minutes. There was work needed on the door to trim it down and they were back the next day and installed everything again in like 10 minutes. When my wife and I bought a house we realized it was missing a screen for a window. Contacted rapid screen repair and they got right back to me! Dropped off a screen and they made two the same size for my house (I replaced a second old screen). I've been coming here for a few years now for mostly screen repairs. They also sell hard to find window and door hardware which if they don't have it, they will order it and have it to you the next day. Prices are very reasonable and you get good quality workmanship. I have always been satisfied with their work. Good location too, close to the Shore. This place is definitely old, they opened in 1949 and it shows. I rent an apartment and needed one screen re-screened and one built to match. Something my landlord should cover due to errors in recent building repairs, but I didn't want to deal with the headache of dealing with my landlord asking for reimbursement. So, point is, for money I greatly didn't want to spend...the cost overall wasn't too bad. VERY fast turnaround (sooner than 24hrs) and their shop was busy. Owner was quick with customer service sticking straight to business (no friendly small talk) which was ok by me. Parking in the rear of their building is extremely tight, so if you're not good at parking in tight spaces and backing out, don't even attempt to drive back there...park on Redondo. I had busted screens (thanks cats!). They repaired it. Rapidly. The end. Perhaps you'd like a bit more elaboration. I'd been putting off repairing my scratched-up screens because I was just too damned lazy. However, insects actually being able to fly into my place unfettered finally became a big enough problem to get my ass over to this place. I pass by this place every day when I go to work, so of course they were the first ones I thought of--reading all the great Yelp reviews sealed the deal! They actually open at 8am, btw--not sure if that's just a summer thing or what, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out I'd be able to just drop it off on my way to work (there's also parking in the rear in addition to street parking out front). They have a huge variety of screens for all your screening needs, and the owner Tim and others at the shop are pleasant, helpful guys. I got a 16" x 20" and a 20" x 30" screen repaired with pet-proof screens for about $40 total. If you can take it in that's the best--apparently they charge $65 for a house call. I am renting a home and one of the window screens kept falling out because the clips on it were just worn out. Rather than fighting with it any longer, I stopped in to see if I could get a replacement. It was the Froday before Labor Day at 2:30pm. The gentleman at the counter told me he could have it done for me on Tuesday after noon. I was more than pleased.... I picked up the brand new window screen, it fit perfectly and only cost me $20. I've used this place twice. Once to fix my screens that my cat clawed up. Excellent work. But what made me write this review was I needed a dog door. I couldn't find anything that I wanted to install into the actual door, and I thought "why not for the screen?" Looking online, they were cheap and expensive. I remembered this place and asked if they could make a narrow screen dog door thing (just go with it...) and $42 later my dogs are happy as can be going in and out. I've taken all my window screens here to be replaced. We have old wood double hung windows and with that come the not so standard sizes/needs. These guys do a ton of older houses and steered me in the right direction...when I first came in I had no idea what I was looking for, so I brought in my original screens and they said it was no problem. Two screens on my place somehow disappeared from the windows, I tried going through my landlord to get the screens replaced and nothing ever happened (what a surprise), so I ended up getting them replaced myself. I happened to find RSR from driving down Redondo and seeing their shop and thought that I would give them a try. They helped me with the proper measuring of the window, the frame, and so on. After picking up the new screens they did not fit (my fault) and I took them back to see if there was anything they could do... they were totally nice and adjusted them down for me, no charge. read more

My screen door was damage pretty badly by a windstorm. It wasn't latched so it got blown quite a bit. We removed the bent door and called to get a replacement. They came out to look at the door jamb to figure out what I needed. They saw the damaged door and took it. They said they can repair it! So instead of paying over $300 for a new door, I only paid for a repair and installation. They could have easily charged me for a new door, but they chose to be honest. Very commendable. read more

I've waited 3-months to write this review. I was so angry over how my transaction was handled that I was afraid I would just flame this company beyond what they deserved. Let me start by saying the the screens are great. They look fantastic. There were some installation issues that were not resolved to my satisfaction, but I can live with them. I got a quote up front and was fine with all the prices and charges. Unfortunately, my problem with the company is many fold. First, the nephew of the owner missed his first appointment. He called me right when he was supposed to show up. I had already told them that I had to take off time from work in order to be there for the measuring, so I was really upset. Second, when the nephew showed-up the next day, he smelled strongly of alcohol. Again, not happy with this company. He measured and we picked some different materials, which I was told wouldn't impact the charge. I also opted not to screen front facing windows, so two less screens were ordered. Third, when the nephew showed-up for the installation he had trouble installing some screens. Two screens stumped him, but shouldn't have. I had to show him how to get them into place. And the one screen that didn't have a wide enough sill to use the usual hardware he resorted to place two nails in in the corners. It seems to me he should have foreseen this issue when he measured, and he should have come prepared. Fourth, the invoice I received from him wasn't from the Rapid Screen Repair Co. It was his own handy-man service. I get subcontracting, but tell me. I wanted to know who was responsible for the warranty should there be an issue. Fifth, the invoice was for a higher price. There ended up being three prices that I saw. There was the price that I was quoted. There was the price that the nephew wrote down on his envelope, which was more than I was quoted. Then there was the amount on the invoice. The service charge for the measurement went up every time. Additionally, the price of the screens went up, despite the fact that I was told it wouldn't and the fact that I order two less screens than were included in the quote. Sixth, the nephew hassled me about paying him in cash. I wasn't comfortable with this arrangement and had already called Rapid to see who I should make a check out to. I wasn't thrilled that I was making it out the nephew, not Rapid and not the nephew's company. I actually had to leave this guy at my home while I went to the bank to get cash. After the install I just wanted to guy to leave because I was so ticked. I waited a week to call the owner and ask him to please explain why the final invoice was so much more than the quote. A few days later I got a call from the nephew who said that it was because he had to climb on a ladder to put in the screens for the kitchen and he had gotten poked by my lemon tree. I had already discussed with the owner that it was a single-story home and there were no extra charges for ladders. I mean, we are talking about climbing to the 2nd rung on a 6 ft. ladder. The service was less than acceptable, the charges not what they were supposed to be. And instead of acknowledging that the charges were inaccurate I got stupid BS reasons about why they were justified. The screens are still fantastic, but I wouldn't deal with this company again and I would not recommend them. read more

ALERT, ALERT, ALERT......Yelpers you need to know who you are dealing with! Here is my bad experience.... I went on to YELP found this private owned business had some decent reviews and decided to go for it. I paid $300 for estimate and install of all first story windows at my rental and asked the owner to also measure for 3 second story windows and I would have him make them at a later date after I replaced some old windows. Two weeks later I call the owner and informed him that I was ready to order the 3 additional screens. He said "well its summer and I can't get those done for at least a week" . I let him know that I didn't want to make my renters wait that long due to bugs coming in and can I get the measurements so I can go to another place,..... His response NOPE! I say to him "ARE YOU KIDDING ME...I gave you $300 of my business two weeks ago and now you are refusing to give me the measurements? His response again NOPE! He tells me, my guy did the measuring and I'm not giving you the measurements. I then said "sir SERIOUSLY I'm trying to give you job but you are telling me you are backed up! I paid for the estimate and this is just wrong on so many levels! He simply said I'm not going to do it lady my guy measured the windows so get the new guy to do it! I then said to him have you ever heard of human kindness guy? He could care less! I then explained that I found your business on YELP and I will be sharing my experience on YELP! YELPERS I hope that after reading this you choose not to give this PATHETIC business owner whom lacks any character your business and please leave a comment as to why. So I said yes I have a dog and he said he didn't recommend it. I informed him the screen worked great for 5 years (since new) and it was a human that broke it not the dog. I called them this morning to see if they can repair the fence gate of my backyard. The guy who answered the phone was not friendly at all. I was trying to describe which part was broken and how this gate looked like. He was still not really sure what kind of doors I have, so i asked for his email so i can send a picture to him but he said no. He asked me a question. I didn't hear him clearly and wanted him to repeat the question. And then this guy just said "sorry i can't help you" and hang up the phone without letting me saying a word.
