You know that old adage regarding bike shop snobbery? Well, it lives and breathes here. I think the person who first observed the cyclist's cold shoulder, the "I'm WAY too skilled to be serving you" aura must have been referencing Rapha- or Rapha execs sought out that vibe in their shop. Not only were the employees too important for customer service, the clientele was stuffy and self-important. Yes their clothing is amazingly comfortable and stylish. And yes, they outfitted a few Tour de France winners (and 90% of Marin cyclist) but does that entitle a small shop to snobbery? The 2 stars are for the clothing- but I'd hesitate to perpetuate their holier-than-thou attitudes for a pair of fleece-lined bib shorts. I'm sure there's something better out there. read more

This seems to be the local bikers hangout (push biker). There is bike and spandex as far as the eye can see. A lot of rides seem to start and end here. I always drop in when I'm walking past for a coffee, the service is sometimes pretty slow but the coffee is good. At least while waiting you can watch whatever bike tour is happening on the TV or shop for some bike clothes/gear. There is plenty of seating outside and inside too. read more

When Rapha opened up as a pop-up store last summer in my 'hood it was a great addition to the area. Very pleased they decided to keep it open permanently at the end of last year. Why is it so good? - Best coffee in the Marina / Cow Hollow from Four Barrel. There's nowhere else brewing quality espresso nearby. - Cool place to hang out and soak up some bike culture, watch a race live on TV, or pick up some great bike clothing. - Relaxed environment and good free wi-fi if you want to hang out for a couple of hours and do some work. - Most importantly its a little oasis of no douchebags right in the heart of the Marina! read more

The shop has been great during the lock down, especially with the online shop and clubhouses somewhat "diverging" in terms of returns and exchanges etc. Allen is the man and always helps me a ton finding inventory and consulting on styles when I pop by. I'm a big fan of Rapha Cycle Club for the following reasons: 1. The vibe is unique. Walk by & you may think it's just a cycle shop, but it's much more! Rapha has coffee drinks, some snacks, & great space for meeting someone or working for a bit. The noise level isn't too loud to be distracting, but enough to add some liveliness to the place. 2. The outdoor seating is fun on a sunny day. Much more creative than simply putting out tables & chairs. 3. There's an upstairs area with a high bar, perfect for working standing up. It took me awhile to discover the upstairs - it's a hidden gem! 4. It's close to my apartment, so when I want a place closer to home to work or hang out for a bit, it's perfect! 5. The service is friendly! 6. Great for cyclists, since you can bring & store your bike inside & pick up some gear while you're there! The one thing I'd love to see Rapha do is diversify the menu a bit. As a tea drinker, I'd love to see more tea options in the future! Their Wifi is OK, though sometimes sketchy or takes a bit to get working. Keep up the great Rapha! read more

So I have actually never been to this cycle club. However, for a place I have never been to, this store has THE BEST customer service literally in America. I live in Los Angeles and I was looking for some cycling team t-shirts. So I emailed the store and asked them a few questions. Not only did the staff respond back to me, they also made great recommendations AND called me when they think it was better to ask me questions on the phone. I was totally shocked and really thankful for this extra mile. When it turns out one of the shirts I ordered needed a size exchange, the store staff called me right away when they received my return/exchange package. BEST coffee I have had in all the cafes I have tried in my travels in America. I'm extremely picky with my coffee, even in my hometown of Sydney. I always used to take coffee as a treat and trek it to the Mission every time I am in SF but now, amazing coffee is just around the corner. This place is definitely a must-go for peeps that ride bikes. Their products are sky-high as could be expected by any Rapha products, but that's not the point. This place is a place where cyclists and even non-cyclists alike can hang out and enjoy the relaxed-yet-up kept atmosphere. The espresso here is actually super high quality, and the upstairs seating is perfect for enjoying a cappuccino and getting some work done on your laptop or whatever. The guys here are also super inviting and friendly, as they should be in such a retail environment. But they also were friendly in a personal way, which for was nice. The only down-side is it's slightly weird location, but it's not even that bad. Maybe better if closer to a BART station or had a better way for bikes to get there, but yea it's all good, they can't help it. read more

Entire staff is 10/10! Great service and high quality products. Whether you cycle frequently or not it's a great place to pick up some cycling 101 tips, especially if you're just getting into cycling or are visiting town and looking to ride. Membership is definitely worth it for the coffee and awesome bike rentals. Where else can you rent a $4-7k bike for $25 a day (+tax)? Maybe a family friend but otherwise nowhere. Mikes Bikes charges $100 and sports basement around $75 for much lesser bikes. I've been to 3-4 Rapha locations and this is my favorite by far. Great little cafe if you want some WiFi and coffee to work remote or read a book. Note hat the cafe typically closes around 4:30 but you can still buy cycling goods until close. read more

Rapha Rats posted race results and spoiled my paid viewing of Tour of Flanders. On the Sunday of Tour of Flanders I avoided all cycling news sites so I could watch the steamed replay of the race in the afternoon. I went online at 10:00 to shop for a shirt: Rapha had posted the race result, spoiling the race for me. Fuck off Rapha, you're supposed to be a shopping site, not race news. Posting a race result-- especially on the date of the race-- is completely irresponsible and downright frustrating. Rapha SF Please report this to whomever is in charge of this terrible decision. I'm switching my cycling apparel purchases to Cafe du Cycliste, finding their products superior to Rapha in both quality and style. I went here on my work break recently to pick up some Four Barrel coffee beans. The employees at the coffee stand were super nice and easy going. And they weren't afraid to try and make jokes with me, even though I didn't get it since I was overwhelmed with being in the store for the first time. Unfortunately, by 3:00 they had no more pastries besides a few lonely looking croissants. There is a large table inside for coffee patrons, so don't be afraid to go grab a cup and hang out. As for the bike shop, I was a little intimidated as I'm more of the ride my bike to the bar and on weekends kind of rider, rather than long distance biking or racing. I am torn because I really want to give this Rapha location a higher rating, but I really don't think the service I received warrants a higher score. So I travel a bit and if there is a Rapha location where I am, I like to check it out because I am a cyclist and you can often ogle at the local riders' bikes while you hang out. So far, this is the third Rapha location I have been to and in terms of bike watching, this Rapha spot does not disappoint like the others I have been to. Where this shop falters compared to the other locations is service. Sure, you can't beat the Japanese in terms of customer service (omg the Tokyo location is pretty perfect), and even in NYC, my boyfriend at the time received attentive service in a busy store while trying on kits. When I came to the SF location while traveling alone, I wanted to try on jerseys myself because I was in the market for a new one. First, there were no extra smalls on display. There were a couple guys working in the shop, but one was too busy chatting with his friends to offer me help and the other never said anything even though I was pretty much staring him down. So I just grabbed a couple smalls and asked for the dressing room. The shop guy pointed around the corner, as if I should have known. Uh, sorry, but I didn't. Since the small didn't work, I had to wait around to ask for an XS. At this point, the shop guy was polite enough and got it from the back. Overall, I expected more in service considering some Rapha wares can be pricier and because my experiences at the other stores were nicer. Hopefully my age, gender, and not being on a bike weren't factors in my experience, but I have felt neglected at male-dominated bike shops before. I'll skip this outpost if I want to shop for myself again, but would possibly come back for coffee and bike-spotting. read more

It really saddens me to write such a horrible review because this place had so much potential. First of all, it's the ONLY non-commercial (kind of) coffee shop in the Marina. But it has two very big downfalls: terrible employees and no outlets. I walk into this rather confusing establishment (is it a bike shop or a coffee shop!) and there's only one other person there besides the employees who are nonchalantly having a seemingly fascinating conversation. They don't even acknowledge my presence as I sheepishly set my things down on the table, which is oddly placed in the middle of the shop. I look around for an outlet but it's nowhere to be found. I finally dare to interrupt their conversation only to be rudely told that they don't have any outlets.I didn't appreciate being scoffed at so I packed my things and took my business elsewhere. Honestly, I really don't think you can afford to be rude to your customers. Terrible service might be 'cool' in The Mission but The Marina is another animal. It's really too bad because that neighborhood could gain a lot from having small, independent businesses. read more

This is for service and not for the product. I walked into the store with my wife and son and right away was looked at with suspicion by some of the employees. Then when my son took too long in the bathroom one of the employees complained and acted as though my kid were stuffing jerseys in his pants or something. Employee said: "everything ok because I would like to use the bathroom." Yet when my son was done he did not go in. We were in the store at least another 5-10 minutes and not once did he go toward the restroom. This was really upsetting because he made me hurry my kid up. All I could conclude was that he was worried we were stealing. All of this could only be based on racial profiling. If I ever buy anything from Rapha it will likely be online where I don't have to deal with ignorant jerks like that particular Rapha employee. read more

this place is awesome! a lot of the bad reviews are from people who come here solely for coffee which is cool (the coffee is great) but they don't even realize it's a cycling club. one lady said she came in with all her shit and plopped it on the table looking for a computer charger & was upset she didn't get the service she expected. but really just imagine that image in your head. I can't help but chuckle. the sad part is she got to leave a bad review & she had no idea what business she even walked into. Fabian (spelling?) is probably the coolest and most helpful person I talked to in the whole Bay Area about cycling. Honestly. I'm a big guy trying to get in shape like Ethan Suplee (not as big but damn that boy a walking inspiration!) & Fabian not only helped me feel comfortable shopping for skin tight lycra but also gave me hella tips on cycling. this guy could have handed me a bib and rang me up but he went out of his way to make me feel like a friend /homie. he honestly talked to me for 10-15 mins after the transaction giving me suggestions on pedals & other tips. that is the reason I why I'm only going to shop at Rapha and why I already recruited my personal friends to shop there in less than 24 hrs after my first purchase. Rapha has an set image and an awesome vision/mission. It may not be for everybody and the price point def will put people in their feelings ( a lot of haters can't afford what they want) but if you want the best performing product that looks exceptional in its minimalism and attention to detail, Rapha is the answer. the ONLY answer. read more

They do NOT smile at all and I feel that they are checking on me and think that I would shoplift or something LOL!! Extremely disappointed in my Rapha experience. I am an avid cyclist and fan of cycling and was really excited when a friend told me about Rapha. My girlfriend and I had stopped by on a Sunday and found that they had just closed. An employee in the front motioned for us to come in. As we were browsing, another employee came out and started berating us, telling us we had to get out immediately. Obviously this employee had no idea what customer service was. I was taken back by their rudeness and will never buy something from Rapha ever and would recommend that no one buy from them either. It doesn't sound like I am the only reviewer to notice this lack of professionalism. Hopefully management will notice they are losing out on potential customers. read more

I was kind of hesitant and nervous coming into Rapha for the first time but I can say my experience was an amazing one. Immediately when my wife and I came in we were greeted by one of the employees. Quickly asked what I was looking for, directed me towards the correct area of the store, and even searched through the back to look for a specific item of clothing I was looking for. Additionally while I was looking around the store one of the associates struck up a conversation with my wife and gave us lots of recommendations of places to eat and drink nearby. I read a couple of reviews saying that the place was a bit stuffy and rude, but I cannot attest to that. It was a great experience, almost a pilgrimage to come to a store with an obvious attention to detail in terms of ambiance and the customer service was great. I'd love to support a company that is moving cycling away from the NASCAR race esthetic, but they think their S#@T doesn't stink and I'm not too stoked to support that kind of attitude. Just don't purchase the RCC membership or renew it, they want people to buy it individually so they can profit of it. I cancelled mine cause they can't honor the sale price after I placed all the orders for nine RCC members from our group. All of us has committed to disown the membership and never buy the RCC kits again. They should of known the bay area has many Asian cycling groups and we spent more money than any nationalities when comes to any designer brand products. This place is great! I am a cyclist and own some of their clothing. Visiting the club is a must when I visit. The 2 employees I talked to were super nice and helpful when I was browsing. They approached me right away to see if I needed help. I already kinda knew the selection but it was nice to have them welcome me. The coffee was AMAZING, got a cap and it was bomb. The baristas were really nice and knew what they were doing. They really make you feel comfortable and don't mind chatting or giving opinions on their products. This place is very inspiring to visit as a cyclist. A few years ago while visiting the city. One of the employees personally took me on a tour and explained almost every item's purpose and why it is superior to other brands. It made me a believer in Rapha and I have been completing their challenges on Strava and also purchasing items when I can through the website. I returned to the city recently and experienced the same customer service as well. I even saw a couple of customers come it with issues on their used items. They were taken care of very well and even ended up leaving with new items! My wife on the other hand is not a fan of this place. She is not a cyclist either. While she was waiting for me shop. She ordered a cup of coffee from the barista and asked to have it in a mug. The women behind the counter said " well i guess you can have one in a mug and then the retail guys can wash it for you". Even though they had a full hour left in their business day. She seemed to have been leaving a little early. Instead my wife ended up with a paper cup and a very bad experience. read more
