I went into Huckleberry Bike as my trusty steed Roubaix for the past 18 years and 10k miles had reach the end of life with a broken rear end. After allowing me to test ride several models and makes, I bought my new Specialized Roubaix bike from Jeff @Huckleberry and it was a wonderful experience. No pressure, knew his stuff and made the entire journey easy and enjoyable. They offered a free bike fitting and usually if it is free this means it they don't do much true fitting. Jeff also is their expert bike "fitter" and he made sure to also ask questions about my riding and even asked if I had any injuries that might need to be addressed in my fitting. He was a wizard and knew how to make me feel great on my bike. He addressed issues with my cleats and ensured I was comfortable from bottom to top. The whole team at Huckleberry is friendly and supportive, even if you ask a million "dumb " questions. If you need a bike or are thinking about one, this is the place to go in SF. Love their new location, it's so chill. This store was the only store that sold some sort of fender for my bike that can be reasonably folded and stowed in my bag when I'm not using it. The best part about the fender is its name, but I'll let you figure that out for the fun of it lol. The guys here are chill and despite them clearly placing bike racks outside for parking, they were very nice about letting my bike in. Came here because I forgot my bike lock key back in Oakland and needed a quick temporary lock. The guy who helped me was really helpful and not only took me through the every single type of lock they had but also recommended other places I could get more affordable locks since I only needed it for the day. All of the bike locks here started at around $80 and up which was more than I was intended to pay but after listening to him explain everything I decided to go with one of the locks here. Even though the lock was over $100 I have no regrets bc I can tell the drastic difference in quality between my new lock and my old one. The guy also demonstrated how to use the new lock and let me know that I can register the keys for it in case I lost them. Great service here and lots of accessories to choose from. read more

I got a bike tune and had my brakes changed out from mechanical disk brakes to hydraulic brakes on my ebike. When I picked up my bike I noticed that the frame wasn't wiped down and immediately wondered if the tune was even done. The bike wasn't really dirty or anything, just something I noticed but didn't pay it no mind as I was happy with the brake job which is what I really wanted. After about 6 months I noticed the left brake all of a sudden got extremely soft. I took it to REI who did an inspection and saw that the brake line was forced in which made the "olive" bend and eventually started leaking. He said it was a poor brake job. When you pay to get brakes professionally installed this is the last thing you expect. read more

They set a high standard for bike shops for me, and that's saying something, because I find bike shops intensely intimidating and scary. I ordered a Cannondale Quick Speed 2 from them in 2015. They put it together, mounted a rack, installed all the locking components for me. Whenever I needed help with my dinky commuter bike, the folks here were always super kind and helpful with all my questions. They were never condescending, which is kinda surprising for a bike shop. Yesterday I had the pleasure of buying a new bike from Huckleberry Bicycles. Huckleberry's hit it out of the park! First, they were the only shop that had either the Kona or Surly in-stock. Huckleberry's had both in stock! I'm in the Sacramento area and called MANY shops to see if they had either brand in stock, none did. Making the two-hour drive to Huckleberry's in SF was well worth it. Second, many thanks to Bryce for the taking the time to work with me and answer all my dumb questions, and I had a bunch. He was very fair and open about the pros and cons of each bike. He asked questions and was able to point out where each bike fit related to my question. Never once did he make me feel like I was wasting his time or that he had other things to attend to. He was focused, involved, and informative (unlike my local bike shops). I recently went in for my bent derailleur hanger from a hard fall. The main mechanic wasn't there when I went so one of other guys helped. It took about 5-10 min bending back. And they asked me to pay $30 for the service. (It is more than their service repair list I wonder why?) Unfortunately, it was not fixed right. I was riding next day and It wouldn't switch to lower gear on the uphill riding. I went back to the shop and the main mechanic fixed it this time after checking that it wasn't done right. No one apologized that they wasted my time and I could have been in a very bad situation with gears didn't work right. I spent almost 5k at this shop last 2 years and I used to recommend that place to every bicycle friends.. I regret doing so. read more

I arrived at the shop just at closing time with my crank arm having just fallen off my mountain bike while pedaling home from work. Huckleberry manager sold me a replacement arm for $15 installed it for free and got me back on the road home in 5 minutes. Nice guy too. Fantastic! read more

Their website is easy to navigate and I could buy the bike without any issues. I went to the store the same day to pick it up. Rocky is one of the nicest guys I have met at a bike store. He was able to get the bike ready with all the necessary accessories and discuss in detail all the ins and outs of the new bike. The shop is super clean and has everything that you would ever need. After Covid hit, buying a bicycle was nearly impossible without waiting a minimum of 12 months to special order and what the shops have in stock are limited in sizes. This is an excellent shop. Some places you go in and they're all aloof and evasive about your silly commuter biker needs. Not these guys. They helped me get the bike I wanted and outfitted it perfectly for my commuter needs. They gave me multiple options and why one or the other might be a better fit. We then found this bike shop and bought bikes for the family and have never looked back. We have a lot of fantastic bike shops in San Francisco to choose from, and most of them are top notch in selection and friendly staff. I checked out 3 different bike shops over a 2 month period, scoping out my options and wavering back and forth on a commitment to get a new bike. The wavering stopped when I walked into Huckleberry Bicycles on Market Street. The low-key no pressure attitude from the staff pretty much saved the day and I ended up with a new Salsa. A few days later I changed my mind and upgraded to Surly. While I don't recommend making the same mistake, they took it all in stride. I called and called and called about a bike listed on their website. Didn't get an answer, so I stopped by when I was headed downtown. I could see someone inside so I tapped on the door. The guy gave me funny looks, then went to check his computer, then finally opened the door and lectured me about how they are only selling bikes over the phone/internet. How was I to know that? When I explained I called and they hadn't answered another guy (Brian) came over and tried to shoe me away. I explained to him that I wanted to buy a bike and his tone softened, but when he checked for the bike it was out of stock, even though it was listed as "in stock" on their site. Good thing I talked to someone before before dropping $1299 on their website, right? So Brian says "here, give me your name and email and I'll attach that to the bike and as soon as we get it in from the manufacturer in about two weeks we'll give you a call and the bike is yours." Two weeks pass, so I followed up via email. Nothing. Two more weeks pass and I notice the listing now says "Sold." So, I write again and say "I really hope you didn't sell that bike you promised me." Nothing. So here I am 4 months later leaving a bad review. The guys I talked to were rude AF, and they didn't deliver on selling me the bike they promised they would. read more

I bought a bike here and the sale came with free labor for repairs. Within about two weeks of buying the bike, the back tire was punctured by a piece of glass. They replaced the tire with the same make and model and didn't charge me for labor. About two weeks after that, the back tire was again punctured by a piece of glass. When I took the bike to the shop in the middle of the day to be repaired, they were not doing any repairs. I paid $1500 for the bike. Perfect buying experience from start to finish and after. I saw a listing on their ebay store for a SuperSix Evo Hi-Mod demo bike. I was thrilled to see they were located in San Francisco, as I live in the East Bay. I called and asked if they could show me the bike and they made an appointment the very next day for me. Here's what else was awesome: I already had a great wheelset I was planning to use and asked if they would sell the bike complete without the wheels. Jonas, who I spoke to on the phone, agreed and gave me a great deal. Not sure this would fly on other complete bikes as this was a demo, but still it was very accommodating. Picked up the bike the next day and added some extras they installed for free and very quick. I rode the bike a bit and noticed some front derailleur issues, which I then made a million times worse by trying to fix them. I called Jonas and he said to swing by the next day, they had the bike fixed with a new cable and adjusted front mech in no time. A+++ service and sale. I've owned more bikes than I'd like to admit and I've been to a lot of bike shops to fuel the hobby. Huckleberry Bicycles is as good as it gets nationwide. I went to the shop to see their 2014 close out models and they had a great variety of bikes in the shop. Ranging from Giant, Cannondale and even Pinarello. Spoke to the sales rep for about 30 minutes, great service agreement (and service I'd later find out) of one year for free. Went back on a Saturday with a helmet and demoed a Supersix Evo and Synapse. Shortly after the test rides I left with a Cannondale. I came back two weeks later and got an extremely thorough road bike fit done which was complimentary with the bike purchase. This is hands down the best staff I've worked with or had service done by in any bike shop in the last 10+ years. I hadn't noticed Huckleberry's despite biking past it *every morning* on my way to work. Despite the free bike repair booth they have on Market starting at 8 am, which I also bike past every morning. Well I've noticed the bike repair booth, but I never really realized who it was for and that there was a shop sponsoring it. As I purchased both my bikes at another bike shop in the city and they came with maintenance plans, I don't see the point of stopping for a tuneup, especially when I'm trying to get to work anyway. Then a friend linked me the website showing a sale on bags, as he knew I'd been on the market looking for a waterproof bag for commuting during rain storms. We went in this past Saturday and Isaac jumped at the chance to give me a hand. Between his knowledge and consideration in helping me find exactly what I was looking for, I wound up with the perfect bag in the right colour for my needs. And the discount made it that much sweeter! This is primarily a Cannondale shop, while I'm a Specialized girl, but I could see myself stopping in here for some of the more "hipster" type bike supplies. My regular bike shop is more sporty, while Huckleberry has more fun things (but they do have a range of items for the more serious bikers as well). I got a pair of funky arm warmers while there as well, for the days that I feel like dressing down a bit instead of being all ~*SUPER SERIOUS CYCLIST*~ and wearing spandex and a camelback. read more

Exceptional service and competitive prices. I bought a road bike online from them in late January. Within a day I heard from the manager that the bikes were on backorder, which was a bit expected given current demand. The manager was great at talking me through the timeline and waited to process my transaction until after I gave the ok. Taylor and the team were also great at talking me through assembly as a few things got jostled during shipping. It turns out there was a minor assembly error, which Huckleberry Bikes recognized and corrected. I really appreciated how they took ownership of it and wanted to make it right. I don't review much, I'm a bit more of a Yelp lurker. However I felt compelled to in this case. Brian, Jonas and the gang are simply kick-ass. I acquired a pair of crank brothers pedals and some clipless DZR sneakers to match from another vendor. Having never installed or used such products before, I walked in this place as it's around the corner from the office, intending to purchase the tools necessary for the installation as well as ask a few questions. Well guess what, they totally hooked me up with the pedal and shoe cleat installation for free, with good advice provided, and drumroll please..... WITH A SMILE TO BOOT! This is so rare in a bike shop that is as hip as Huckleberry. Normally, you are simply not cool enough. I picked up a multi-tool anyways for their trouble and will happily go back for all of my bike-related purchases in the future, despite having a bike shop in my neighborhood, a block away, which shall remain nameless. Unfortunately, I generally have found that I'm not cool enough for those guys. Maybe if I work on tweaking my nipples a bit harder they'll accept me someday, but until then Huckleberry feels like a better fit. They also have an impressive selection of cool gear. Bikes of all price ranges, nice assortment of bike/commuting gear, clothing bags n' shoes, as well as all the basics. Great location for those that commute downtown everyday. read more

Shipped my bike from my home town, many states away, to this location. Though I was never sure when the bike would come to the shop, they kept allowing me to move the scheduled rebuild back until it did. Eventually, the bike got in and they called me to let me know that they got it and got it built. To my surprise they also gave it a nice, and needed, tune. Bike now rides like butter! Super cooperative in allowing me to move my rebuild back. Once I got to the store, it was a super quick transaction between getting my bike, paying, and being out the door. Took my Brompton here for its one year tune up and to have the bottom bracket replaced (under recall) - they did a nice job and turned it around same day (remember I booked a time). Nice. They had some super fancy and expensive Barbour jackets up front that I drooled over for a moment...don't worry, they are waterproof waxed canvas. read more
