We "interviewed" a few landscaping companies before making our selection. Having read horror…read morestories about people starting and not finishing or timelines taking way longer than expected, etc made me nervous. I found The Works from NextDoor and had David, the owner, come out to talk through what we wanted. He provided guidance, options, gave us reasons to do or not on some of the things we wanted to and was just overall patient and professional. He created a photo mock-up of what the stonework (landscaping bed) would look like and sent it to us for reference. He probably came to our house 4x before they even started and didn't charge a penny until the job was near done. His crew was professional and respectful and didn't leave any trash or debris behind. They came when they said and finished when they were supposed to. We have old brick and our HOA wouldn't approve anything that didn't match. David spent so much time finding and matching brick and stone for us and the end result looks wonderful. We are so happy we went with The Works! He fixed the sprinklers that were effected by the digging in minutes as well. I learned that they not only create these beautiful stone borders and landscaping but they are a full service lawn company. They mow, edge, mulch, refresh and plant, etc. I would recommend them to friends and family without hesitation.

I have pavers and gravel on each side of my yard; palm trees in the corner; they framed a portion of my yard for the hot tub; and put down rye grass for the winter. The flower beds are amazing the David picked out the plants personally and placed them where they would do best, either in the shade, partial sun, full sun, etc. He put my Christmas lights up and I love, love love!!! Warm white really looks great at night and he used the really good old fashion light bulbs, not the cheap string lights. David can envision how to make your exterior look amazing. Communicated well and was professional. And was clear with his pricing. He was not the least expensive but was competitive in his pricing. We scheduled service for the next day. So that was a plus! We've been in our house for 10 days and I didn't want the grass to grow taller and potentially get a notice from our HOA. They arrived perfectly on time. Cut the lawn and trimmed a flowering plant that was a little too close to the patio/ house. They worked quickly and efficiently. My yard looks great! The last straw was when they blew all of the pollen from our yard into our neighbors...so embarrassing. Of course, they denied it. This really upset our neighbor and rightfully so. Yesterday, they came to clean the yard and left branches in the front yard. I picked them up and placed them neatly, so they would not even have to do that. Just so that they could be sadly found where I left them. Then they asked if I could check the cameras...because they swear they cleaned everything in the front yard. I placed the branches there myself and refuse to be lied to. You will be communicating with their son, who will let you know when they will be coming to service your yard. He texts "Hey, we are cleaning your yard." I have often paid extra to be a good citizen and show appreciation. After they made my neighbors upset at us and then left the front yard with all the branches, I fired them.

I recognized what they quoted was definitely low and in fairness, I decided to continue and pay them what was the more appropriate amount. 2. They several times showed up without warning or not enough warning, and a few times went in my backyard without permission. Thankfully, my dogs were not outside at those times. 3. THEY SHOWED UP AT 9:30pm ON A FRIDAY NIGHT WITHOUT WARNING AND WENT INTO MY BACKYARD. Here's the thing - the owner Karen, didn't seem to care or think it was a big deal. Karen even told me "it's easier to pick up poop at night with flashlights". When I called this morning to discuss the matter, she really didn't care at all. Didn't even let me speak more than a few words.
