We have 2 cats. One is pretty sick (bowel disease and thyroid issues) and the other is healthy. When I am out of town, they are separated in different rooms so that the sick cat can receive her medicine. Clint was not comfortable administering the medicine directly to the sick cat, so I allowed him to mix it into wet food for her. My boyfriend returned home before I did from a business trip, and discovered that the food with high doses of medicine was not given to the sick cat, but rather the healthy one. This CRITICALLY endangered the lives of both animals. The healthy cat (who had eaten some of the "medicine food") was immediately rushed to the emergency vet, where they monitored him, and he will be ok. I have no idea how long the sick cat went without food, much less medicine (we were gone for 3 days). But she also appears to be recovering ok. I will admit to being extremely protective of my animals. To say I was furious, does not begin to describe my feelings. Helpless. Incredibly scared. Everything any animal parent would feel. When I called Clint to tell him what happened, and how upset I was, his repeated response was "I don't want to call your boyfriend a liar, but I remember putting the right food in the right room." He barely apologized. It is my sincere, and heartfelt plea that you do not trust the lives of your animals to this man. Every animal deserves better.
