The line was long and moving. The service is of southern kitchen, expect someone screaming "next" at the cash register. The menu is at the front by the register, in chalk, so it gets updates throughout the day. While ordering you are informed which items are sold out. Seating is sparse and 1st Come 1st Serve. I ordered the chicken plate. The chicken was crispy, seasoned and juicy - Perfectly fried. All of the sides were good except the cornbread. Just skip tasting the cornbread it will ruin the meal. Overall, it's Southern Soul food; however seating and dynamic menu presents the most challenge in making it an enjoyable experience.

We ate and ate until there was not more room. We gladly took our left overs for another wonderful meal. As we were leaving I said, oh, no "I forgot to take pictures. So I went and broke in line and took a couple of the cafeteria style food that everyone was so patiently waiting to be served. The staff works extremely hard. The restaurant is very clean. And the food is absolutely delicious. They do take togo orders and sometimes the line is out the door. They are closed on Saturdays. Highly recommend one try if in the area. Prices have remained relatively low while other places have increased their prices drastically. Our two meals which included drinks and tax was about $21. You can still buy a whole fried wing for under $2...it is $1.95.

The collard greens may have been cooked with pork, which I don't eat, so I didn't have them--but I did taste them. They were finely cut, well-seasoned, and definitely not from a can. As I was leaving, I was asked about my experience, and I later realized I was speaking with Ms. Gladys herself. If you enjoy spicy fries but don't like ranch dressing, skip the Cajun ranch fries and just sprinkle Cajun spices on them yourself (they have a shaker at the counter).
